About Cafe Britannia
Cafe Britannia is a shabby chic cafe based on Mousehold Heath with spectacular views over Norwich. The cafe is open 7 days a week with free parking.
Cafe Britannia Description
Based at the former Britannia Barracks and with spectacular views over Norwich, Cafe Britannia opened its doors to the public in January 2014. Our slogan taste rules, symbolises our delicious freshly cooked meals.
As a social enterprise, we strive to not only put our profits back into community projects but we actively source a large proportion of our products from local Norfolk suppliers and from our own prison gardens.
We are open 7 days a week with a dedicated breakfast menu served till 11: 30. Our main menu includes amongst other things gourmet burgers, fish & chips, ploughmanβs and omelettes.
Our array of beautiful cakes, speciality scones, and sausage rolls has put Cafe Britannia on the map as a destination for afternoon tea.
The cafe is staffed by category D low risk prisoners, many of whom have limited catering experience but all have volunteered to learn new skills, improve their lives and make a fresh start.
The team all work incredibly hard to make the project a success and their commitment has shown, as Cafe Britannia has fast become one of the busiest cafes /restaurants in Norwich.
All profits generated from the cafe are donated to community projects, including customer tips which are donated to Victim Support. To date, over Β£50, 000 has been donated to Victim Support.

We had lots of lovely ladies join us for a few hours who made their very own set of Christmas crackers!
Big thank you to The Creation Station Norwich & Broadland for hosting our workshop! And next weekend we're doing it all over again. But this Saturday 1st December between 2-4pm we're working with MIND and having our very own Crafternoon where we'll be making our own wrapping paper and Christmas cards. Whilst Father Christmas is sorting out all of the presents to deliver on Christmas Eve, he has allowed our sister CafΓ© Park Britannia to look after two of his Reindeer for a few hours whilst he is working on the final touches before Christmas Day! π
Due to their very busy schedule Father Christmas' reindeer will be at Park Britannia on Sunday 9th December between 12pm and 2pm. Visits are free and there's no need to book, just come ...along and say ho ho hello. The reindeer will be looked after on the day by some of Father Christmas's Elves too. And what's more, Father Christmas himself may even make a surprise appearance on the day. (We've asked him very nicely!!)

In just over 2 weeks, our little shop of treasures Shop Britannia is hosting a Christmas shopping evening!
The shop will be open until 9pm on Monday 3rd December where we'll be showcasing some of the amazing stock we have for the festive season.
Whether you want to decorate your house ready for the big day or if you need to find that perfect gift for someone. It's definitely worth a look because they'll be something for everyone! We have some gems of items at the moment.

Would recommend the afternoon tea, very nice and good value οΏ½
Went for tea on Saturday 4th August. Staff very friendly, food and service excellent especially the sweet waffle and ice cream dessert. Would highly recommend.
We only discovered it by accident while walking up to Mousehold Heath. We had a lovely refreshing lunch, although the queuing was a bit of a pain as it was so warm inside. The staff were very polite and attentive and I thought the entire enterprise was wonderful!
We hired the ice cream van from Cafe Britannia for our wedding as a surprise for our guests. We are so glad we did! The ice cream was great quality, the service was fantastic and the van itself really looked the part and was a real talking point when it pulled up, chimes going. I would recommend to anyone considering booking it for an event.
We had a great meal this evening. Brilliant, friendly, helpful staff and yummy grub. The views are also stunning!
Thumbs up from me on all aspects! Food was fabulous (and a fair feed), fantastic and very polite and efficient service, great views and a lovely way to enjoy a sunny lunch!

She was so friendly and helpful, a credit to the team. Great customer service, would like that passed on. My friend was delighted with her present. Thanks so much.
Just finished the most scrumptious afternoon tea with my parents-cakes and rolls were so fresh and soft-delicious! All the staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough for us. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon-highly recommended.
It was our first time going to the cafe Britannia.to be perfectly honest it was superb..the staff were really friendly.. fast with the service and the food delivery was also fast.... The food was piping hot and wad very enjoyable, well do to all the staff for there service.... keep it up people..... The cafe Britannia is definitely a place to visit time and time again
I had one of the best ever breakfasts here. The pancakes were light and fluffy and the fruit delicious and plentiful. Top quality grub, beautiful setting and very friendly staff. Can't wait to come back, thank you all. Top marks!
I had a delicious evening meal with friends! They both had lasagne & I had hunters chicken. Absolutely fantastic, service was good, very friendly & the meal arrived quite quickly:) the result was 3 clear plates & too full to eat dessert, although we were tempted! Highly recommend Cafe Britannia
Highly recommend my sister took myself and mother here recently and we all enjoyed great food,scenic views and super friendly service with a smile too.We will definitely be returning again very soon x
Helped to seat all 6 adults by moving a table to accommodate us. Food came out really quick, loved the mushrooms on toast. All food was hot and tasty. Great service and highly recommend.
