Last week we hosted freelance illustrator and graduate of NUA, Charli Vince, Charli worked with our year 10 art groups and also the year 9 pupils that have take art as an option next year. Pupils who attended the workshop looked at drawing from mind to using a reference then looked at creating characters of their own.

On Wednesday, in order to broaden their understanding of links across the curriculum, Year 8 took part in the next round of their ‘Knowledge Connected’ programme. The pupils explored the key concept of ‘Human Interaction’ in all of their lessons, with Geography looking at climate change, how humans effect this and how they respond. History looked at the relationship between the police and public in the 19th century. Pupils were very keen to get involved with many new and exciting learning opportunities.

Four Year 8 pupils competed against 23 other teams from across the East Anglian region in the Salters’ Institute Festival of Chemistry held at the UEA on Friday. The day was organised by the Salters’ Institute in partnership with the Royal Society of Chemistry and the University of East Anglia, with the aim of promoting the appreciation of chemistry and related sciences amongst the young. There were two practical experiment challenges in the day, The Salters’ Challenge and The University Challenge followed by an exciting and interesting Chemical Magic Demonstration. The Caister team worked extremely well together against tough competition to win The Salters’ Challenge, a very impressive achievement! 😀🥇

WOW, as it was Shakespeare Day on the first day back and year 7 is currently studying The Tempest, Mrs Yaxley asked her class to complete a research project about William Shakespeare. Solomon thought about the task and gave it his all, producing an absolutely outstanding homework – a full size model bust of Shakespeare– complete with lots of interesting research. Well done Soloman.

Year 11 parents and pupils - We are all acutely aware of the stress and challenges that arise in the build up to the final exams. We also know this is a particularly challenging time for parents, as well as the pupils sitting them!
As a result, we would like to invite all year 11 pupils and parents to an information evening on Wednesday 24th April, 2019, 6pm – 7pm.
