Out and about in west London, loved the look of this chippy from the outside, unfortunately the chips did not meet my expectations. They were awful, the photograph makes them look good but the majority of them were grey and inedible. They fed the bin outside the chip shop and I donвАЩt normally like to waste food. Scores out of ten....drum roll please......ONE....and that was for the box they were in, seriously!!!! All the products is cooked to order, not greasy at all. The quality of the products, the service and the cleanliness levels are excellent. We could not fault anything.

I've been coming to Captains for 8 years now and can't find better fish and chips anywhere. Not only that but the service by Tony and the rest of the gang is impeccable. It's not your average fish and chip shop with the additional offerings of things like giant calamari rings, prawns and home made tartar sauce it's definitely THE place to go!

I wasnвАЩt able to eat there however I have severe allergies which make it very difficult to eat and the allergens list and knowledge was so useful really brilliant for the modern world, thank you very much for your assistance.

I was fed up with the fish and chip shops in and around my local area, so decided to have a look on google and find out what fish and chip shops were coming out on top. The nearest was captains fish bar in hoddesdon, it was lovely and clean, the chap that served me was tony who was very polite and helpful, I ordered 3 lots of cod and chips, home made tartar sauce, curry sauce, roll with butter. The food was excellent, the best we have tasted in a loooooong time, the tartar/curry sauce are fabulous, even down to the roll.

From now on we would rather travel a 30min car journey to get the best fish and chips, then eat what is in my local area.



Keep up all your hard work because, it won't be the last time we come over to eat your delicious food. пњљпњљпњљ

Fantastic food, lovely guy вАШJimmyвАЩ who served me, makes such a difference being served by genuine friendly staff that are so obviously passionate about what they do. The place looks amazing, lovely atmosphere in there. Loved the prawns and calamari and home made curry and tartar sauce пњљ Must try the battered CadburyвАЩs cream egg next time. Heard about this place on the WEB and drove 45 minutes to find. Best Fish and Chips we have had in years , Fresh hot Haddock , wonderful chips , delicious home made tartar sauce . We shall drive again for this experience. ! Thank you so much. Everybody friendly , wonderful.

Hands down this is the best fish and chips I've had in my life! Believe me, I do like to be beside the seaside, but Captain Cods beats it! Where do I begin; the potatoes are excellent quality, along with the blanching which gives a delicious crispy finish, to the cod itself which is great tasting and succulent. The home made tartar sauce is delicious in itself, this alone is worth travelling for! I have also tasted other items on the menu such as the chicken burger, the curry sauce, sausages etc never disappoints and the quality is always spot on. The owner Paul, is a Top Man! Always ensuring customer satisfaction and very friendly and attentive. I personally have recommended Captain Cod to all family and friends I know. This particular establishment does not skimp out on anything, even the take away boxes are of top quality along with the sturdy wooden knife and fork. Keep doing what your doing Paul and don't change! :)

Wow what can I say?! My other half and I came for lunch today.. during his lunch break. Service was polite and efficient... The wait was fine... Not long at all... And the food was amazing!!!!!!! Such reasonable prices for such amazing quality! Thank you so much.. we told you we would be back next week and we will for sure!
