Good morning. A brrr and crispy priory today at Castle Acre.

User

Good morning from Castle Acre Priory.

User

Did you know that Castle Acre Priory was used in the Vincent Price film, Tomb of Ligeia? What a great day when the ESC group visited the site with Vincent Price's grandaughter. It was lovely to meet everyone. We've watched the film and love looking out for the bits of the priory they used for filming.

User

Happy New Year from all of us at Castle Acre Priory. Hope to see you all in 2019.

User

Good morning! We have another dramatic, beautiful wintery scene for you. It's of Castle Acre Priory being engulfed by the Beast from the East. The storm was so severe it blocked the roads into and out of Castle Acre.

User

A glorious Winter scene and Seasonal Greetings from Castle Acre Priory

User

Good morning from a wintery Castle Acre Priory. Sunrise was at 8am so when doing our daily checks we managed to catch the sun peaking from behind the latrines.

User

Castle Acre Priory weekend winter weather report: Tomorrow will be sunny, blue sky with a moderate breeze. Sunset at 3.44pm.

User

Hey, little mouse, are you celebrating the Winter Solstice? Oh, you have been sipping a Monk Fizz made with mead? A Green Monk Fizz, made with Chartreuse? That will definately make you sing.

User

As we approach the winter solstice the sun sets earlier and earlier. This means closing the Prior's Lodgings a little earlier too. This evening the rooms looked dramatic... but cold and dark.

User

Good morning everyone. Snow is forecast? Better come inside Castle Acre Priory. Winter weather plus priory equals great photo opportunities.

User

What's did you say little mouse? You're reading the Castle Acre Priory guidebook while you're waiting for the retail sale to start tomorrow. What else did you say little mouse? Oh, but you're not in the sale? Ok.

User

When the dark clouds and rain clear away, the evening begins, and the West front of the church at Castle Acre Priory looks glorious. Almost makes you want to sing 'glorious!' out loud. See you tomorrow (singing optional).

User

Phew! A winter sunset on the West Front of the Priory. At this time of the year the sun sets really quickly so had to act fast to get this photo.

User

What a damp day. The priory looks good whatever the weather.

User

Good morning Castle Acre Priory fans. Apparently mead is on trend. As well as being one of the world’s oldest alcoholic drinks, mead is the 'new' up and coming ingredient in cocktails - we blame Game of Thrones. We also sell mead.
For a Monks’ Fizz you will need: 40ml Heritage Mead 40ml fresh squeezed orange juice... 75ml English sparkling wine Garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Monks' Fizz?

Inside Castle Acre Priory's herb garden there's an espalier Ashmead's Kernel tree (one of four fruit trees). But, what's that nestled amongst the branches? There's three of them!
