Congratulations to Charles Burrell Centre tenant The Horticulture Industry Scheme CIC who this week secured nearly £16,000 in funding from Breckland Council to support their work rehabilitating ex-offenders and some serving prisoners through their gardening work. #TenantTuesday - We love to showcase all of the fantastic tenants we have here on site at Charles Burrell Centre, particularly when they're doing something really creative with some of the old classrooms. Jelly Tots Nursery is one such tenant. Using an old science lab they now provide childcare services from birth to 5 years old. They also offer a 10% military discount and a 10% sibling discount.

We’ve been busily interviewing today at Charles Burrell Centre for our new CBC Business Manager position. Thanks to our interview panel; Mike Brindle, Chairman of Charles Burrell Centre Board of Directors, Emma Ratzer, Chief Executive of Access Community Trust and Sam Chapman-Allen, Deputy Leader of Breckland Council. Last Friday we also held interviews for the position of Engine Room manager and thanks to CBC Board Member Councillor Denis Crawford and Suzanne Connolly from West Suffolk College- Thetford & Mildenhall for giving up their time to support this. Thanks also to all that applied. Exciting times at CBC!

He was keen to learn how the organisation has been working with those that have come into contact with the judicial system and how their allotment on site at CBC is helping to improve participants mental health. Thank you to everyone that came along to say thank you and goodbye to our Chief Operations Officer Mark Snowdon today. Tenants, sessional hirers, staff, volunteers and board members alike joined together over lunch to thank Mark for all that he’s done. Mark has been a huge part of Charles Burrell Centre for more than four years and has contributed significantly to its success. Mark will be using the skills and knowledge that he’s developed whilst at CBC in a new role at Breckland Council and we wish him all the best in the future.

We have some great news to announce! Following the success of our 'pop-up shop' initiative, The Toy Den is now becoming a permanent tenant at CBC! Find them in the main corridor next to West Brothers as of tomorrow.

Our #CBCPowertoChange project has enabled us to support a number of local businesses by converting redundant spaces into small offices and storage areas. Congratulations to Foster Electrical Services on their recent expansion since becoming at tenant at CBC and thank you to everyone that has supported our match funding efforts which surpassed £25,000 in 2018. This is just one story in regards to how that funding is being invested.

We have hired both the main hall and the kitchen in the CBC and can not fault the service we received by everyone at the centre. They are always polite, extremely helpful and often go above and beyond to ensure everything runs smoothly. The whole centre and its staff are a credit to the local community.

Very proud to be part of this incredible project that supports local organisations. Once an empty building, now a very busy and vibrant community hub that provides affordable facilities, education, training and a number of services to the local community. The centre has created or ring fenced well over one hundred jobs and is home to organisations such as a local Foodbank, a college, a toy library, community nurses and several other groups and has also provided the help and support needed to launch new organisations and businesses.

Thanks to the team at the Charles Burrell Centre. We hired the hall for a 6th birthday party today. When the DJ set up there was some sort of electrical problem but the team along with the DJ worked really hard and fast to ensure that we had power, lights and music for the 12:30 start, thus ensuring that none of the guests were disappointed. I’d highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a venue, the team were friendly and efficient and the cafe was an added benefit for all the adults attending, excellent prices for tea and coffee. A real gem of a venue that we all need to support.

Thank you to all the staff at Charles Burrell Centre for looking after us so well. Mark even gave a talk to our learners to help them with their assignment, his a star! Adult Ed Thursdays

Such an amazing thing you guys have done with this building! It could have gone to ruin and been knocked down, but instead you saw the potential and have turned it into a great community hub that everyone can enjoy.

Popped into the center tonight to access the cupboard I use for Slimming world... could not believe how buzzy the whole building felt. Pockets of people everywhere, fitness clubs, table tennis, kids clubs, college, cafe. Just everywhere people enjoying themselves. Great to have life in the place and a full car park on a random Thursday night. Huge well done to the team for your efforts. I really do love being part of the community you've built xxx

My daughter had her 6th birthday party at Nadine's cakes and celebrations yesterday. It was a cup cake party for both boys and girls. They all enjoyed decorating their cakes and taking them home thx Nad x

Just looked through the pictures and it seems so weird to see the old school I went to so empty and stripped out. Good to see they haven't knocked it down

Jazzercise Thetford moved to the Charles Burrell Centre last week - what an amazing community atmosphere. The team looking after us are fantastic!

I work for West Suffolk College Thetford and run I Wish, I Wish UK from the CBC. The centre has come on leaps and bounds since I attended CBHS. The team work so hard in maintaining and running the place smoothly. I have never known a team of volunteers who are as helpful and hardworking as the CBC Volunteers. I attended the Mayor's Civic Reception on Friday night- the event went perfectly.

Well done Team CBC!

I recently hired the main hall for a small daytime kickboxing event. The staff member on duty that day was fantastic, he went out of his way on more than one occasion to help us with whatever we needed. The over all hire of the venue was great and booking process etc was straight forward and very efficient. Will certainly be working with the Charles Burrell centre again in the near future!

Had a Christmas party at the centre it was fab, a great venue with the old skool bar doing the drinks. Great night thank you

Great place with lots of diversity for the community.

Everyone helped my daughter to surprise me for my 50th birthday, she has certain problems that make talking to strangers very hard but you made her feel at ease and comfortable in dealing with you. The party was so fantastic, staff were so helpful and the centre is such a good place to celebrate. Would highly recommend it.

Each time we visit for an event, the last being Thetford Acoustic night 6, we have an amazing time. The events are put together so well, organised, friendly and well thought out. The atmosphere is always great and the team provide such a variety of event types to keep things interesting and fresh! Can't wait for the next one and keep up the good work! Certainly a treasure for the town! �
