Charles Burrell Museum Description
The Charles Burrell Museum opened in 1991 and is housed in the former Paint Shop on Minstergate in Thetford, Norfolk. The museum tells the stories of the Charles Burrell Works, the people who laboured there, and the machinery they produced. The past is captured through displays representing different areas of the Works, such as the foundry, and the display of our collection of Burrell engines and other agricultural equipment.
So, visit the Museum and step in to the world of Charles Burrell, world renowned Industrialist during the golden age of engineering and agriculture.

Following a fantastic end of season steam up yesterday. Our roller 4061 and agricultural 2479. Have been cleaned out, drained and winterised for their winter hybernation. See you all next year.

We have visited the museum several times, but we saw the Queen Mary at the Great Dorset Steam Fair where myself and my boys were invited up on the footplate and given a talk about how everything works by the lovely Richard. Also thank you to the lady whose name I don’t know for arranging this. Staff are always friendly and very informative. You all do a fabulous job!
I visited on a special open day on Easter Sunday. Really lovely to see so many steam engines, some which had obviously been brought up by enthusiasts especially. Nice displays talking about the history of the Burrell factory, I'd definitely recommend a visit!
A wonderful little gem of a museum and super friendly team. I just love the smell of this place and the dog on reception is pretty special too! Thanks too for bringing one the engines to our village fete. Fantastic.
A lovely little museum ran entirely by volunteers. Has a real warm friendly feel to it. And it's free to get in so don't forget to purchase something from the shop. Will go again.
