About City Of Norwich Aviation Museum
The City Of Norwich Aviation Museum is predominantly a volunteer run organisation. Without their contribution it would not survive. Members are involved in the numerous tasks necessary to manage and operate the museum.
City Of Norwich Aviation Museum Description
The museum started out as an aviation enthusiasts group for members of the Eastern Counties Omnibus Company way back in 1977. The membership was later opened up to non employees and a temporary site was secured on the 17 /35 runway at Norwich Airport.
In early 1982, museum exhibits included Avro Anson (TX228), Westland Whirlwind (XP355), Sea Vixen (XP919) and a Dassault Mystere IV (121). 1983 saw the arrival of our Vulcan bomber which flew in to the airport after its retirement from service.
By 1985 the museum had moved to its present site and an air fair held to help raise funds to expand the museum. At this time the Anson had gone (having been damaged beyond economical repair during gales) but Vampire (XD373) had arrived. 1986 saw another air fair on 14th September that saw attendance figures break the 20, 000 barrier and another arrival, T-33 (16718).
Over the next few years, services were laid, the main exhibition hall erected and the arrival of more aircraft. Recently the museum has expanded its display areas, widened its public awareness campaign, and advertised itself globally through its website.
The future holds many obstacles for the museum but with a dedicated group of volunteers we hope to carry on expanding and provide a more comprehensive view of aviation in the area.
Reviews
Today, Saturday 18 May 2019, we welcome the RAF 100 Group Association members for their annual reunion gathering.
Our Friendship Tea Room will be used for a private event in connection the reunion and our normal service will be interrupted from 11.30am to around 2.00pm.
Once the RAF 100 Group party have left the museum, for visits to airfields used by the 100 Group during World War Two, normal service will be resumed.

Saturday 11 May - CNAM Emergency Services Day 2019 is off to a great start! If you haven’t been yet, be sure to pop down! We are open until 5pm.
Saturday 11 May 19 - Remember folks, our Emergency Services Day is on today!
Admission prices stay the same but in addition to the museum it is hoped visitors will go away having learnt something new about our Emergency Services and other charitable organisations such as the East Anglian Air Ambulance and Blood Bikes!

The bomb bay of Vulcan XM612 was cycled and left open for the up coming summer season, so that visitors can take a peek inside! It will also be open for our upcoming Emergency Services Day on the 11th of May 2019. More details of this can be found on our website: www.cnam.org.uk

Easter Egg Hunt at the City of Norwich Aviation Museum! Easter Weekend 2019 - Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st April 2019
Struggling to find something to do this Easter?
... The City of Norwich Aviation Museum is hosting a FREE Easter egg hunt on Saturday the 20th and Sunday 21st April 2019.
Upon entering the museum, younger visitors will be given a quick sheet which can be filled in by finding different items around the site. Once completed, the quiz sheet can be swapped for an Easter themed 'treat'.
The museums very own Vulcan Bomber, Nimrod and Jaguar Cockpit will also be open for guided tours.*
After exploring the aircraft and completing the quiz - visit the Friendship Tea Room which will be serving light refreshments throughout the day.
