All the parts cut out and formed for another SS100 petrol tank.

I needed a hand operated tapping machine but didn't want to pay the cost of one so made this for about half the cost including my time.

Some simple cycle guards I made a week or so ago and the simple buck I made to make them on. The short one was the sample supplied by the customer

...and here is one of my pneumatic planishers. I made this a year or two ago. This is an incredibly useful tool. saves lots of hard work.

Still working hard here at Classic Metal Shaping. The photos below show my hand held pneumatic planishing hammer which I made a few years ago. I recently made another frame for it so I had more reach. This thing is a real time saver for initial dressing of welds or roughed out areas.

Recently got sent a couple of photos by a customer of some Swallow radiator shells I made for him. The one on the pink and cream car was made at least twenty plus years ago but the one on the other car is more recent. The photo of the shell in bare brass is the more recent one.

A few photos of the Lea Francis Grill I hand crafted from sheet Brass. I also restored the aluminium cowl panel then fitted the grill to the cowl. I didn't use a jig or buck I worked from patterns. Its is in an unfinished state in the photos and will need to be polished and plated. Video at the top of my page.....

I recently hand crafted this Lea Fancis Grill by simply copying an original. I didnt make a buck or jig. I formed each section from sheet brass then welded them together. This also involved some soldering and silver soldering exactly like the original. Its shown here in its unfinished state - ready for polishing and chrome plating. The video was created for me by YOGHURT CREATIVE.... If you need a quality video for your businesses social media or website and you are in the Colchester area contact them, they are on facebook too.

Here are a few photos of some brass vintage headlights that I restored some time ago. They were pretty damaged over most of their surface. I dressed them to a metal finish they were then chrome plated.

Many older tubular race car chassis were bronze welded, as were many classic motorcycle frames. I learned to bronze weld when I was 16. Here is a very short video.

One of the regular Jobs here at Classic Metal Shaping - Making repair panels for car clubs. This particular club were one of my first customers and I have been making panels for them for over thirty years. Here I show a little of the processes I use in hand crafting bespoke metal work.

In the last thirty years or so I have occasionally undertaken repairs to the chassis of vintage cars where for one reason or another parts of the chassis have had to be replaced. This is usually something I do as part of a larger restoration project. I hand form replacement chassis sections, these are often quite large and complex pieces. These will often need to be riveted together. This video showns the process I use for hot riveting.
