That heart stopping moment when you're not sure if a lamb is dead or sunbathing!

*IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE*
As of Monday 30th March 2020, we are altering our shop opening times as follows, until further notice. Monday to Saturday 9am - 1pm Sundays Closed.
... We have taken this decision in light of the ongoing Corona Virus situation. We have seen a great increase in the number of customers to our small farm shop and our usual honesty system has become difficult to work, especially as many customers want to use contactless payments. We have found we need to man the shop full time, but with just the two of us here, other work to do, and most importantly, Henry & Isla to keep safe, we are finding it very difficult. We want to continue to serve our community in a safe and clean environment and hope that reducing our opening hours will help with this.
For residents of Wormingford and Fordham, we are going to make deliveries on two afternoon's each week, but only to these areas. This service will be at our discretion, and whilst we feel it safe to do so.
For any key workers that have difficulties with these hours, please contact us and we will find a solution for you.
To all our customers old and new, thank you for your understanding and continued support through these unusual times.
Stay safe, Tim & Sophie

A lovely set of twins to finish the day 🐑🐑

We are so lucky to have our milk bottle supplier nearly on our doorstep. This morning I picked up enough bottles for another 4000 litres of #rawmilk so that should keep us going for another week or two! Thanks Clive, Claire and the rest of the team at Cockx Packaging.

Isla found a four leaf clover yesterday, I think we could all do with a bit of luck 🍀🍀💗🍀🍀

Good morning all, another update from the farm. We have made some changes as the current situation develops. We are now limiting eggs to 2 boxes (12 eggs) per household and temporarily stopping selling them by the tray. Most weeks we sell around 500 eggs, this last week we have sold over 3000 and we cannot continue to get them in that volume. We are bottling and selling every last drop of milk our cows produce. There is no button to press on a cow which makes her give more mi...lk, if there was we would have pressed it a week ago! We are focusing on keeping our regular customers who have supported us for a long time, supplied with milk. We are not taking any new orders or increases to existing orders. Any extra milk will be available from the shop. We are now in the position that we have farmwork to do, fields are drying up, lambing continues and we have two children who we now have to home school and keep safe. Sophie, quite rightly, has decided to pause doing any cooking for the shop, and won't be attending any farmers markets for now. Trevor has agreed to supply some extra bread this week which will be available from today. We have fresh pork and bacon returning from the butchers tomorrow (Wednesday) from mid day and we have a fresh delivery of Fairfields Farm potatoes in the shop. Please, please be sensible when visiting the shop. If there are more than two of you visiting, please only one come into the shop. That would halve the number of people we are exposed to. Whilst we can keep the shop clean and sanitised, to do the same with the farmyard is totally impractical. So whilst we are usually happy for people to visit the animals, we are asking you not to for the time being. Please only visit if necessary, that way we can keep open as long as possible. Thank you all.

Morning all, just a quick update from the farm. Our shop is open again today as usual, from 8am to 6pm. We are however making some changes. Please only enter one at a time, if there is someone inside when you arrive, please wait your turn outside. We have suspended taking any new reservations for the weekends and may have to extend this into the week too. We are not limiting quanties at the moment, it is quite usual for customers to buy larger amounts from us once a week. But... we are asking for customers to be sensible with what they purchase. We milk our cows twice a day, every day and this won't stop. Trev the Baker is busy baking some extra loaves of sourdough and we may be able to persuade him to squeeze in an extra bake next week, if it's wanted. We have fresh Middle White Pork returning from butchery next Wednesday, gammons etc the following week. There is also beef in the freezer. Sophie has been incredibly busy this week but has still managed to produce two different home cooked meal options for today, Creamy chicken curry and beef stew with dumplings. Please bring your own container to fill if possible. There are also quiches, sausage plait and bakewell tart in the counter too. Please look out for each other and, as always, if we can help in any way, just ask!

Henry's pet sheep Betty with her new lamb. Less than 8 hours old and he's out with mum.

User

Unlike cows, sheep only have two teats on their udders. If any have triplets, we usually have to rear one of them ourselves and let mum continue rearing the other two. Occasionally, it is possible to get a single bearing ewe to take on one of these lambs but it's not an easy task. We have one of yesterday's triplets in with a couple of older ones, and it seems he's getting the hang of the milk feeder!

In such crazy times, the simple things that we've seen so many times before suddenly seem extra special. For anyone shut away at the moment, we're going to try a share some of these special moments and hopefully bring a few smiles to you.
Early this morning, before milking, I gave the sheep a quick check. This girl was busy licking her new born lamb, and with a quick examination I felt another coming so left her to it. I went back later expecting her to have had the second lamb to see her with a third too!

Lots of potatoes now in stock.

All in for the night, cozy and warm 🐑🐑🐑

Good morning from the milking parlour at Colletts Farm. You've probably noticed we've been a bit quiet on Facebook these last few days, mainly because we have been watching developments and considering how we are going to continue in as normal a fashion as possible, as we are sure you all are too.
Like all raw milk producers, we have a strict hygiene plan which we follow daily and will continue to do so to ensure we have plenty of delicious raw milk available.
... Our farm shop is still open as normal and we are working hard to ensure we have as much stock as needed. We are asking that visitors keep to the shop and parking area outside and not to venture around the farmyard to see the animals for the time being.
We continue to send deliveries of fresh milk via Byhams Dairy and for those further afield by courier service. If you cannot make the journey to us or want something in particular please let us know and we will do what we can to help.
Meanwhile, some good news! The cows are blissfully unaware of current affairs (despite having the radio on during milking) and continue to produce their beautiful creamy milk twice a day, everyday. Our sheep are steadily having their lambs and our pigs are back out in their fields after the winter. Last week we picked out some more cows to come and join us at Colletts in the near future.
Please stay safe, look out for each other and continue to support your local shops, farms, business and community.
