Went there for the train driving experience for my dad. My sister has a broken foot, so was in a wheel chair. The staff were fantastic, using the train to get my sister across to the other side, so we could see him off. Unfortunately, the heat became too much for my dad and he started to feel unwell. Once again, the staff were absolutely fantastic, the first aid man was great and dad recovered. They allowed him to drive the bigger train out of the station and then back in again with the promise that dad return to drive the steam train at a later date. We really can't praise the staff enough. They really were super and we had a smashing day.

We went to a Day out with Thomas event here today for our little boy's fourth birthday. It was perfect. A brilliant day and good value. Once inside you don't pay extra apart from in the shop and for food. Face painting, temporary tattoos, all the rides, and other activities are included. The buffet car prices were very reasonable though we only had drinks and, took our own food. The coffee was £1.80. I noticed they sold jam sandwiches and cheese sandwiches which is brilliant when you're taking small children. There are lots of picnic benches and you can eat your picnic in the buffet car. There is also a nice field where the car park is where you could picnic.

The fat controller and rusty and dusty were amazing. They really added to the day. They knew everything and maintained the characters. They remembered our sons name and said hello whenever they saw him. The story time, and rusty and dusty show were brilliant, as was the imagination station and little story enactment. All the little extra story and character touches really made the day. Highly recommended.

Took my 1 and a half year old to Steam with Santa and it was absolutely brilliant. She loved every minute. Santa himself was wonderful and the gentleman with him was lovely as well. The train was beautiful and very well kept and the miniature train ride was so much fun. Staff were so welcoming and friendly, it was a fantastic afternoon from start to finish would highly recommend x

This is the perfect day out for anyone with young train enthusiasts ... my 4 year olds excitement levels were off the scale .... hands on experience, friendly staff, well organised, reasonable prices in the cafe and the gift shop, lovely walks through the woods kept all 5 members of my family all day ... we will be back soon 🚂😄👍

This is our fourth time coming here in the past year, our son is train mad. Every time we come we have a fantastic day. The staff were friendly as always and always ready for a chat to tell all about the history of the line.

The sidings Buffet (is under new management) food fantastic quick, fresh and reasonable priced (just what you want when feeding a family). Another positive is The Sidings Buffet takes card and cash, as the other catering company only took cash which was a problem because how many people carry cash these days!!! Well done for introducing card payments.

Will be visiting again through the year, with out a dealt.

Thank you for such a great afternoon meeting Father Christmas. The snow made it that extra bit more special and well done to all the staff working in the cold conditions!

I'm a registered child minder & have been bringing children every year to the 'Steam with Colin' day for as many years that you have been doing it & the children always love it especially hunting for the hidden bears & riding on the trains. I have seen a lot changes over the years & can honestly say it just gets better every time we come. This year I brought my 2 grandchildren as well & my 3.5yr old granddaughter was so excited about riding on the trains & at the end of the day said "Can we come again tomorrow"! Keep up the good work & we will definitely be back

Had a great day out. Brilliant selection of things in the shop. Only a shame we didn't spot any of the Peter's Railway books in the shop.

Great place to go, it’s a really exciting place to see how thins used to work in the seam days. Building work means there’s not loads to do at the moment but the improvements will defiantly prove to be exciting for the future 👍

Fantastic day out, great value for money and the staff were brilliant.would recommend kids loved it

User

Fantastic day out with the family. It is like stepping back in time for the adults and thrilling for the kids. Price is so reasonable as once you are in the rides on all the trains, no matter how many times are free. The staff who are nearly all volunteers are fab too and make the day special. Would definitely recommend

Brought my father in law for lunch on the Pullmans carriage for his 80th birthday. We all really enjoyed the experience. The staff were very friendly and the lunch was superb!

Was a great day out. Was good they allow dogs as not many place do. Good to just sit on the train and be taken up and down the line. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Staff were helpful and happy to chat.

Lovely staff who were incredibly helpful and aided us in finding the larger carriage and put the ramp down so as to be suitable for an elderly lady with limited mobility as well as a buggy. The miniature railway with all the switches was thoroughly enjoyed by all including the 2 and 3 years olds who found it mesmerising! The buffet car food was nice enough. The shop is fab and again lovely staff. We didn't get a chance to go on the mini line but will be back. Only thing I'd say is (as with other places) when you have quite little ones the price feels a bit steep because they can only do so much before they're tired however it's a nice place and we will come again.

Railway great. But manager monica in buffet car gets half a star. She doesn't know what she's doing. We saw our food get put down on the side and then tried to give to us. Telling people not to take table numbers for order lol. No cutlery for jacket potatoes. The most ridiculously tiny amount of bacon in a bap you pay £2.50 for. Sort the buffet car out. We weren't the only ones complaining. Also would've been nice to know not all of station open. My little boy really wanted to ride minature trains.

We went yesterday for Thomas the tank engine with our three year old grandson , he enjoyed the trains , the tent activities were poor . The fire fighters were good ,he held the hose to put out the pretend fire . All fine for his age ability. But the food .....oh dear ...beyond poor quality, burgers were discussing , sandwiches cheap bread very cheap filling . Coffee was weak and warm . Personally we thought they were missing a great opportunity to do good food . I doubt we would return and we live 20 minutes away , so great shame .
