With 108 days to go until the 2019 Grand Round the World Cruise sets off from London Tilbury, here is our #WorldCruiseCountdown stop 7: Acapulco, Mexico While the simple question of ‚Äòwould you like to watch people jumping off a cliff?‚Äô would send most people into a spin the Clavadistas de la Quebrada attract hundreds of visitors each year who come to watch as they brave the jump of 41m (136ft) down to the brilliant blue waters. All the divers take years to hone their craft, learning to hit the water at just the right moment of the wave break to ensure they hit the deepest part of the swell, and as we all know as cruise lovers, predicting the seas is a near impossible take. https://www.instagram.com/p/BkAycNygVj4/‚ Ķ

With 108 days to go until the 2019 Grand Round the World Cruise departs, here is our #WorldCruiseCountdown stop three: Bridgetown, Barbados. Barbados is considered the birthplace of rum and is home to the world’s oldest rum distillery where Mount Gay has been produced since 1703! As Mount Gay say themselves ‘there’s a time and a place’ and what better place to try this traditional drink than in Barbados itself! A trip to this island wouldn’t be complete until you’ve sampled some of the country’s world-famous liquor, so be sure to make time for a pit stop in one of the many rum shops located around the island to experience this national drink with the locals!

Summer Gardens & River Seine Experience on Magellan July 2017 I chose this as it was a no fly cruise. Embarkation was very efficient & went very smoothly. There was a lovely welcome aboard & we were taken by a staff member to our cabin where our suitcases had been delivered. The cabin was very spacious. The crew were friendly & helpful. The food was excellent and very well presented. The ship was spotless & staff were always making sure the public areas & stairways were kept clean. The entertainment staff worked hard to ensure everyone had a good time & put on some excellent shows. We visited some lovely places & the excursions & courtesy transport was very well organised. Looking forward to travelling again with cmv in 2019 to Spain, Portugal & Gibralter

My husband Steve and I have just returned from the Baltic's and St. Petersburg cruise on board the Columbus which sailed from Tilbury on 16th May . We had an amazing time, all the members of the cruise were superb. Sidney and his team produced wonderful menus which we both enjoyed in the Waterfront restaurant. We had great steaks at the Grill and the service we received from all the staff was excellent. The Icing on the cake was the Chef's table which was an incredible experience and was made particularly special because it was Sidney's birthday. The entertainment team, Lee, the Cruise Director, Josh, Alex, Chloe, Gemma and Jordana and the dancers were brilliant and produced great productions which we really enjoyed. The ship was lovely and had lots of places to go. The ports of call were brilliant and St. Petersburg was my favourite. We will definitely be cruising with CMV. Thank you everyone for making our 1st CMV so special x

Just returned from a week on Magellan. Had a fabulous week despite a few itinerary changes which were unavoidable. The ship is lovely and has a relaxed home from home atmosphere. Plenty of places to sit and watch the world go by!

We ate mostly in raffles bistros as we like the informality and the food was always good with plenty of choices. Also ate, at fusion which is Indian speciality , well worth the cost food was superb. The Kensington restaurant was very nice and the staff very attentive. We didn't purchase a drink package as the drinks are reasonably priced no different to what you pay at home.

Our cabin was very comfortable, we had booked an inside cabin and I was unsure what to expect but we weren't disappointed , our cabin steward looked after us very well. Had tray of tea delivered every morning at no extra cost!

Would definitely recommend CMV as excellent value for money, we have already booked for next year

User

Just got back from doing the fjord lands in Norway on Columbus and my god it was fantastic! Really surprised me with the decor of the ship and the size of an inside cabin! Will definitely be booking another one again soon! Fantastic! ÔøΩÔøΩÔøΩÔøΩÔøΩÔøΩ

Have just returned from a weekend mini cruise to Newcastle and have to say it was fantastic. Exceptional value for money, as I don't know where else I'd get 5 meals, a room and entertainment for £59!! Couldn't fault the crew, everyone (including deck hands) were polite and couldn't do enough for you. The cabin was great, clean with loads of space. Public areas were well kept too. Drinks prices comparable with a local pub and plenty of food choices. Only niggle being the evacuation drill (took over an hour, with some guests walking off halfway through!!). Would definitely travel with CMV again, but probably try a different ship.

We travelled to the Baltic Cities on Marco Polo from 4th - 16th June and I couldn't have been more surprised. I was a bit unsure of what the cruise would be like as in the past Marco Polo has been in the news a lot but we couldn't have had a better cruise. We joined this cruise as it was sailing from our nearest port of Harwich, which doesn't have many sailings so we jumped at it, and travelled to Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Russia, Finland and Sweden before returning. Unfortunately due to a technical problem at Kiel Canal we could not transit the canal so had to head north around Denmark again and then home to ensure we returned to Harwich at a reasonable time. It did mean though that we saw the very pretty town of Visby on Gotland instead of Stockholm which we had already been to so that was nice.

The staff on the cruise couldn't have been friendlier (well perhaps Reception could have been better as at times they were a bit abrupt) from our cabin steward Ayaw (Soe ? - from memory) who was always smiling and often asking if we were going on the trips and Sanjay in the Waldorf restaurant who could not do enough for you and then all the bar staff would enjoy friendly banter.

We thought the food in the Waldorf restaurant was excellent and found that one of the chefs (from Bali) was on the same ship in 2000 (The Mistral) on our first fly cruise from Venice around the Greek Islands which will always be special to me. I'm always amazed the quality and numbers of dishes that can be produced for that number of people. We also ate in the Bistro which for breakfast and afternoon tea was great but in the evening I didn't think it was so good but still nice and of course you could have a try at a couple of meals if you liked the look of them and couldn't choose. Didn't eat at lunchtime as the breakfast was plenty enough.

We thought the shows were excellent and the individual singers were very good. Apart from the dull day we had leaving Harwich the weather from then on was really nice, sunny, warm and it was so relaxing sitting out overlooking the pool.

Originally we had booked a cabin on Deck 9 in the middle of the ship so we were close to both ends and were allocated Cabin 653 but on picking up our tickets found we had been upgraded to a slightly 'bigger' cabin (601) right at the front of the ship it did mean though that we had great views all round of the ports we had docked in and saw the lovely colours of a sunrise in the early hours of one morning.

On the whole we had a lovely relaxing time, seeing many fantastic places - I really liked Rostock in Germany and would like to return, possibly by train, sometime. St Petersburg was also a favourite and we probably would never have gone to Russia had it not been for the Baltic Cruise.

Update: The refund has just appeared on the credit card! We greatly enjoyed our cruise on Astoria, but because of a peculiarity of the online reservations system, our traveling companion, who occupied a double cabin as a single, was charged for two additions packages. Before embarkation, the company reversed the charge and showed a credit of £84 on her account, but there has been no attempt to actually return that amount to her and attempts to communicate with the company are met with silence. She received an email on April 5 indicating that the accounts department would be in touch within seven to ten days. She is still waiting. We boarded April 21 and Guest Relations thought there would be a credit on the shipboard account. At the end of the cruise there was not. Since debarkation on May 5th, there has been silence. I don't know whether to think CMV staff are simply incompetent or whether the company really wants to keep £84 that it has already admitted isn't theirs.

This is a bit delayed but we had a lovely time in October on Columbus, however, just a heads up for people. We did a tour to Amsterdam and visited the flower market - super - and like most tourists brought some tulip bulbs (we have a very large garden which we open to the public and thought these would add an extra talking point) we selelcted blue and black - currently watching them come into flower - all red. They were not cheap just be on your guard if you want to purchase "unusual" bulbs.

have just joined this page and see that many people (not all) are happy with their voyage but I cannot find anyone who is happy with customer service from management. There are lots of complaints about non-returning of deposits in what seem to be valid cases, lost and stolen items, etc.

I would love to hear from anyone who has had GOOD dealing with customer service from management. Anyone??

Just returned from 25 days on Colombus on a 2 cruise combined offer doing the British Isles/Baltics and St Petersburg. Room was ok, food was not bad.....found dining room shocking for breakfast as all food was cold so had breakfasts in the Bistro as could at least get a freshly cooked eggs there instead of the cold ones in Dining room. Opposite applies to dinner though, Bistro was dreadful and dining room was good. Found majority of staff very friendly and happy with the exception of the Reception staff who are in desperate need of customer service training. Was told on one occasion by one reception member when enquiring about a telegram my family had sent to ship which I had never received " don't know where it is....not my problem". I was insistent that something be done and once again " not my problem". Funny how that telegram arrived at my cabin that afternoon !!!!! As I have trained staff in customer service and am passionate about this area of expertise, I was daily blown away with my own experiences and those of fellow passengers in this reception section.

Ship was reasonably clean, entertainment was rather ordinary and in some cases extremely poor. Dancers routines were very repetitive in most shows.

The ship had a breakdown and we missed seeing three of the islands around the UK......received a paltry £50 compensation which is hardly worth it when one has travelled from the other side of the world to see these places. No communication during breakdown.....just a couple of messages from captain and it was no good asking crew as some of them didn't even know we had turned around for repairs.

A couple of tips.....don't bother paying extra for a room with a window.....you can't see out them.....25 days and not one clean window, absolutely disgusting !!!!! Also, for any Aussie travellers, take some $1 and $2 coins with you if you want to use the laundry facilities as that is what the "coupons required" are......that will save you having to buy them and even better save you having to deal with the rudest, most disinterested Reception staff you will ever meet!

Beware, we had made booking with Cruise and Maritime, but due to unforeseen circumstances and still with 9 months before departure had to transfer to another cruise, still with cruise and maritime .We were aware there would be an admin fee of £50 per person, but was happy with that. However partway through the transfer we found that cruise and maritime had slapped on an extra £200 per person not the £50 as stated in their Terms and conditions. Therefore they were wanting £500 and not the £100 as stated. I strongly suggest you read them before making any booking. When I bitterly complained via their website there was no response. I phoned them to be told the charges were clear in the terms and conditions NOT SO .! I found the terms to be very woolly so could be made to cover what ever was required, but still with no mention of any costs above the stated £50, that seems to me to be a licence to print money.

Any company can best be measured by its response and performance when things do not go smoothly.

Their cruises are probably as good as I've been on with other cruise lines, but their booking and customer satisfaction leave very much to be desired, leaving me extremely disappointed and angry. This will be my last cruise with cruise and maritime.

We have just returned from our cruise on the megellan to the fjords and was the worst cruise experience we have ever had, we were put in a cabin which smelt of sewage and no proper air conditioner when report to desk customer service they were rude and unhelpful but sent service engineer to our cabin, he said yes problem with air con and I think smell coming from cabin above I will investigate and come back, never saw him again complained again asked to change room told no cabins available and it should get better as we get out to sea.

Later in the holiday we had no toilet it did not flush rang customer service desk and told they would send engineer up And slammed the phone down ! The man came he didn’t know why it would not flush but would fix it. It wasn’t fixed so we went to the customer service desk and complained again she fetched the engineer he said there’s a ongoing problem she asked when it would be fixed he said one maybe two days who knows. So we went went back up changed to go for our evening meal still no toilet went back down to desk again very rude receptionist said it’s ongoing problem madam and just keep repeating that I said what are we supposed to do tonight she said run up the stairs to deck 8 and use the public toilets bear in mind we are 68 and 70 years of age and would be in our night clothes going into public area to use another toilet at our risk which is a health and safety issue ? so we asked to see the manager and appointment was made for after our meal.

We went back at 7.30 as arranged and asked to see him the receptionist looked at me as if I had gone funny no she said yes I said appointment made so she looked on computer and oh yes and went to get him, he apologised offered us wine which didn’t fix the problem and then gave us a key to surprise surprise an empty cabin and use the toilet in there which was situated on the opposite side to us., so still running along corridors in the middle of the night ?

We filled in an official complaint form he signed it said he would forward it to head office write to them when you get home which we did for compensation .

They refuse to pay us anything for being left two days without a toilet in our cabin which is not except-able and against health and hygiene we paid for a fully functioning cabin and did not get one , and the customer service was the worse we have ever experienced and would not go with this company again and they must have chucked my brand new suitcase round the warehouse it’s absolutely ruined that it the only thing they have offered to pay out for. So we are going to write to watchdog and ask them to investigate the company cause we are not the only ones complaining and the company do nothing about the complaints.

User

Rude staff....dirty tables....the list goes on! 1st cruise I've been on and last with this company. Tried to complain and the people on board weren't interested. Urge folk not to go on this ship! If I'm paying that much for a holiday I expect the service and standards to be of quality!

User

I have cruised with 3 lines and this by far was the worst.

Terrible customer service, dirty tables, lazy staff, empty hot tubs and pool.

Faked documentation saying otherwise.

Should be ashamed of how they treat their guests.

First cruise was acceptable second was a joke!

Would not recommend

I am currently on the world cruise which my daughter booked for me as it was a big birthday and I had never been on a cruise before

I had a wonderful time for the first few weeks until one night at about 2 am the ceiling of my cabin fell on my head

2 large sections of the ceiling were on top of me when I was sleeping I have not much memory of the next few hours but I managed to inform reception of what had happened but went back to my bed and either fell asleep or was unconscious

I awoke at 6 am to a lump on my head and a headache so phoned and asked for a doctor I was told I could only see the nurse I said ok however the nurse phoned me and offered to send me ice and paracetamol but I could not see the dr until 9am

I went to reception and asked to see dr again but was told to just sit and wait until 9am

When at reception I was asked to sign a disclaimer saying I had refused medical treatment of course I refused

After seeing the doctor and receiving medication I was told the ceiling would be fixed .

The customer service manager reported incident to head office and they offered me £100 as a goodwill gesture for the incident

I am utterly disgusted at this as a lone elderly passenger I could have died in that room I was just lucky where the ceiling hit me did not appear to cause serious damage

I heard a man on the ship complaining that the WiFi onboard was too slow and was immediately refunded £40 and told to keep the data allowance

So £100 for ceiling falling on my head and refused to see a doctor for 7 hours or £40 because their WiFi is pretty slow

This has totally spoilt a once in a lifetime experience to treat your passengers so badly I have emailed head office but they don’t reply to me and the new customer service manager who took over in Sydney has told me they will not change the offer

I am kind of tied at the moment but I will contact a lawyer as soon as I’m home as this has spoilt my holiday to be treated so badly through no fault of my own I was only sleeping in bed Cruise and Maritime I hope you are ashamed of yourself and I’m sure you have my email address that you may have the good grace to reply instead of leaving your poor staff to do your dirty work
