Dake'S Drums Description
Welcome to Dake's Drums, a page primarily dedicated to my teaching and pupils. I have spaces for new students and would love to hear from you if you are looking to start out or move up to the next level. As a gigging musician for forty years I have also taught in many settings from 1 to 1 through to workshops and classrooms and have a passionate desire to get everyone behind a drum kit at least once in their lives! My approach is very much focussed on enjoying your time playing, no examinations, but purely learning the physical techniques to enable the development of practical creativity behind the kit. Encouragement and patience are my mainstays and every lesson is based around those key ingredients. I welcome children and adults alike and I have particular experience in tutoring SEN students and those with learning difficulties and /or behavioural issues. The health benefits, both mental and physical, have long been documented and can't be ignored, with research pointing to improvements in cognitive ability and fine motor skills. It also helps with cerebral development, forging new neural pathways every time we put stick to drum! It's a win win with physical fitness benefitting also! At present I generally travel to students and teach on their own kit, but I do have the facility to teach from my home in Framlingham on a Roland electronic kit. However, I am in negotiations for a modest drum room locally, so watch this space!
in addition to teaching /gigging, my fascination with drums extends to the refurbishment and rescue of drum equipment too. I've lost count of how many kits that have had a near-death experience that I've saved, stripped, cleaned and found happy new homes for.
