As an Sculptor and woodturner based in rural north Dorset, much of my inspiration comes from the surrounding landscape, and the amazing timber that i source locally from storm damaged trees that mostly have come from the gardens of my former milkround customers.
My passion for wood comes from my grandfather who passed on his deep love of creating in timber , also in my twenties i met Dave Roberts RPT, a magician with wood,
who opened my mind to the world of lathe turning.
After only a few lessons Dave told me that i had "the touch" and should go away and play. . . . so play i did, experimenting with a wide range of timbers and techniques.
The more i learned, the more my desire to create art from timber grew, developing into a love that has never, and never will leave me
In 2011 the opportunity arose for me to spend much more time in my garden workshop and develop as an artist.
I have a great passion for including a very organic look in my pieces with natural edges and burring, for which i had to develop a slower and more precise method of turning,
giving my work a distinctive style.
After some encouragement i joined the Dorset Visual Arts and successfully participated in Dorset Art Week followed by excibitions at NT Stourhead and Bridport Arts Centre,
