Huge Congratulations to our beautiful sales manager Catherine who got married on Saturday in sunny Portugal, you both looked stunning. The new Mr and Mrs Callaghan.

Thank you very much for the lovely day I spent today together with my family and friends, it was a joy and a pleasure. The food was delicious, the people @ DLL Chigwell amazing...it was a brilliant experience. I really hope to do another day soon, and look forward to seeing you then.. Very best wishes Andy & Peter!!

User

Great club one for all the family.

User

Due to the massive influx of new members at Chigwell the 9.30 and 10.30 classes hit and circuit to name a few are always full up.

Disappointing considering so much money was spent on the refurbishment.

Could you not run another hit or perhaps outdoor boot camp at these times to prevent disappointment.

Just an idea. Or does anyone else have any ideas ?

User

Thank you Katie Field great Zumba Class tonight as always, loved the music, really friendly group and apart from a good workout you make it fun xxx

User

I’ve been a member for 2 years now. It has some great aspects, like the kids club and the pool. The staff are really great, life guards and kids club especially. We had a party today and I wanted to say a big thank you to Nathan, I would highly recommend having a kids party at DL Chigwell. Only downside is the lounge (cafe), the service and food is rubbish and extortionate.

User

A great gym and fitness centre, staff are more than helpful most of the time but can sometimes be a bit lacklustre. The children's area is not very well managed with the bigger kids taking over the toddlers area meaning my little one can't play without the danger of being knocked over. Otherwise a great place to train and relax.

User

Lots of bad comments. Are the management responding? I've rejoined after 10 years and this place has gone downhill. Food is disgusting..... I ordered an omelette and it was inedible. First step to improvement ..... sort the food out!!

I would advise those wishing to join David Lloyd Chigwell that the platinum membership(£140/month) is a waste of money. It buys you into an exclusive spa area via sliding doors. Doors that fail several times a month allowing standard members to come and go.

If they are working, all anyone has to do is wait for a platinum member to come out and they walk in. It is even possible to climb over the side of the doors to gain access.

So much for exclusivity .

The inside pool is always cold. If you wish to take part in aqua aerobics then allow for cramp.

Not a pool for arthritis sufferers .

Adolescent male children of members are allowed to walk around the female changing room. And young boys being young boys do like to stare.

They ran out of towels last month and asked we bring our own in.

We found all this out after we'd signed up to a 12 month contract . Fortunately that contract expires soon and we cannot wait to get away. Customer services ignore emails when they know they are in the wrong.

I gave this place two stars mainly because the majority of the staff are helpful and polite. The overall experience is one of frustration and accepting the fact that David Llyod penny pinch.

Visited David Llyods for the day as I am a member of a different David Llyods. I found the Instructors were very intense and rude watching every move I made like we are in high school.I always push myself to the best of my ability and I know what I am doing as I have been attending Les Mills classes for years. The gym I am a member of the Les Mills instructors are much more understanding and laid back. Also I set up for pump class only to be bullied out of my space by regular members who were repeating its 'all gone pete thong' over and over like something terrible had happened.I obviously had taken there regular space and they could not understand why I had set up there before them. They continued to bully me out of my space but I held my ground. They just do no understand that nobody has there own marked bodypump spaces in class and bullying and intimidation should not be tolerated. They need to get a life.

Finally as i was drying my hair I left my bag on the middle bench as I was ready to go.To my horror I looked over as I was keeing an eye on it to discover a girl trying to dip her hand into it pretending she was going for swim carrying a towel to hid whatever she was trying to nick.Lucky I grabbed my bag and she dd not get anything.I have been to alot of David llyods and I do not have such bad experiences. They are usually great place to train and great value for money.

User

Unacceptable tennis court management. Trying to book a court is impossible during weekends as the entire place is booked up for kids clubs. Turning up without a booking and all courts are empty - zero respect to the rest of the club members.

User

Staff are rude spin classes ruined used to be upstairs in the now in the gym with everyone else this is the worst experience ever the food is disgusting the management don't care nobody cares anymore I been a member 15 years now about to leave

User

Staff are pretty unhelpful when you most need them to be helpful. Called with a very sensible and easy to accommodate request and had the Data Protection Act quoted at me. Clearly missed the GDPR obsession that hit the rest of the country!! Also, this particular request had no data protection impact at all.... might as well have said "computer says no". Kind of get they night not know whether they can give out certain info but the rudeness of whoever is currently manning the phones was outrageous!!!!!!

User

So the club have decided to bring in new rules on tennis bookings one of the changed is that if you do not attend your booking slot in 10mins of the allotted hour your court can be given to someone else, I do agree with this BUT it does not inc when a coach has booked a court for a private lesson ....double standards DL

User

Restaurant food is just edible. Service and cleanliness terrible needs a boost and serious staff training . If it wasn't tied into the gym , it would have been shut down a long time ago .

Seats are well overdue for a change well worn in and tatty.

Toilets in changing rooms total disgrace , filthy and stink.

Spa area never up to scratch . Always dirty and something broken . Also non full paying members just let themselves in or let in by a member of staff ! Even though they do not pay for full membership.

Showers also are dirty, and very frequently have no shower gel in containers! Very annoying.

Classes are cancelled and no cover . What are we all paying for then ?

It's supposed to be a prestigious gym .

If it was a holiday , we would only expect a 2 star .

Get your act together d l.

User

Pay premium money for budget equipment, I swear the person buying the equipment in the gym has never used it. I now train at gymbox the difference is day and night.

User

Outdoor pool looked in need of a refurb and a good clean. Lots of old leafs in the bottom despite no wind for the past few days and lots of dumped equipment around outdoor bar area. No hot water in ladies showers (apparently none for a few weeks but no notice about this). Dodgy water pressure in family area showers. Large jacuzzi not in use. Altogether a really disappointing visit and I'm thankful this is not my home club.

User

New fee tariffs a complete rip-off! Supposed to be a rise of 8.5% across the board but this is a lie. Hikes rise from 5.3% to a hefty 23.76%. Different people ar being charged different rates - just seems club can now charge what it likes. Inflation is approximately 1.5%, so nowhere in line with this. Seems we are paying through the nose for the £4M refurbishment, which as tennis members is a joke. We are being squeezed and marginalised whilst child activities and areas are increased, and to be a tennis member attracts the highest fees for a decreasing number of courts. Sauna was taken away, adult only lounge now houses around 20 people and we lost Court 1 to allow the adult members only lounge to be built but this too has been given over to the children and we are squeezed into what was originally the kids "ball pool". Courts 2 & 3 taken away for Padel Tennis, despite a huge petition to the contrary, it went ahead. Great success ? Well great place for kids to play football in or to run around like lunatics. Getting more and more like a giant kindergarten, but guess this is the way the club is going. To still call it David Lloyd is misleading, as David Lloyd is synonymous with tennis, should be renamed CP Leisure as I believe it is owned by Centre Parcs Group (?). In any case if you are looking for a tennis club this is not it. This is a leisure centre with a few courts, but with excellent coaching.

Dirty pools, smelly family changing rooms, don’t feel good visiting pool. Restaurant food not great, slow service. Complaints are not acted upon. Quick to take our money but once enrolled there isn’t much service.

User

David Lloyd Club Chigwell needs to sort out the ladies showers once again yesterday the showers were cold - everyone complaining - this has been an on going situation for months now - total joke - fees gone up as of January 1st to over £100 per month and not providing the basic facilities ! I complained at reception to be told engineers were attending yesterday ! Heard that for last two months called head office to complain given another number to call for complaints ! That number not in use - called back no answer so left a voice mail stating my complaint and asking for a return call no one called - today went back guess what showers freezing cold still - disgusting service disgusting that David Lloyd head office have not returned my call !!!!!!!!!!
