We have been member of this gym for nearly 2 years now and we can’t fault it. All of the staff are great and really care about what they do. From the front of house to the trainers and even the cleaners... they are all so friendly and nice. Love the family focus that this gym has with the soft play and all of the kids activities. We wouldn’t go anywhere else!

This is friendly unpretentious family or single club .It's membership is excellent value .The staff are down to earth friendly people and lovely. The classes are numerous and free .There's an out door heated pool I love.A sauna steam room fantastic huge Jacuzzi area and wonderful gym with staff like Ellie �! Who help you with equipment .It's amazing and has changed my life Thank you David Lloyd .

Thankyou to Andrea, and the fantastic bar staff not forgetting everyone else who made my sister Michelle's 50th birthday party such a great evening, the staff all worked tirelessly to make sure everything was so well organised and so perfect......all the staff were helpful and polite,I would recommend David Lloyd for many reasons but most definitely for private events, well

I love this place - it's clean, spacious and there's always room to train.

I always get a friendly greeting and goodbye. I mainly use the free weights, which may need a few more to keep the place moving but that's minor.

Changing rooms are clean, tidy and all lockers are usable. Ample parking and plenty to do.

Best gym in the area.

I love this club. Good range of classes and excellent facilities. Food can be hit or miss, but it's a nice area to sit and relax.

Members forum, held once a month, is an excellent idea and it's a shame more members don't join in. Staff are friendly and approachable and do listen to our feedback, which is noted in the forums! So keep letting giving them your ideas!

I have been a member here for around 6 months now and felt it was time to write a review. From the beginning the staff are friendly and make you feel extremely welcome. They explained all available options and made me feel as if they were working out the best deal and plan for me. The facilities are second to none and kept immaculately. The gym is enormous with quality equipment and even in busy times there is enough facilities and variety that you will never be waiting.

The swimming pool, steam room and sauna are of spa standard and a great place to relax and unwind after a heavy work out.

One of my favourite parts of the club is the food menu offered. 99% of the menu is healthy and comes with calories and protein intakes listed.

A superb place to train, relax and eat! What more could you want??

Had a really good workout and body balance class with Nichola... Felt fantastic... But the best part of my experience was getting my watch � back after leaving it at the club last week. I thought it was lost for good....A massive thank you to the kind member who handed it in. It's sentimental value is priceless xx

For anyone who is looking for party ideas for their kiddies birthday, I would just like to say that i would highly recommend David Lloyds Southend, Snakes Lane. They were brilliant. Kelly, Lauren and all the staff at David Lloyds went out of their way for my daughter, who had such an amazing princess/superhero themed birthday party their with all her friends. They played games, met snow white (which they adored) my daughter wanted to keep Snow White forever. The food was lovely (compliments to the kitchen staff), they all got party bags and a balloon each. The kiddies are still buzzing about it now and had a lovely time. Thank you so much to you all at David Lloyds and will diffantly book a party again with you and can't wait to see all the photo's. Love Jenna and Olivia X

Came today for the first time as Basildon David Lloyd have cancelled 3 classes in the last few weeks, 2 alone in one week!!! The gym is really nice and the staff are great. Really enjoyed the synergy class this morning ... it’s just a shame I had to travel to a different club to be able to take part!!

I will definitely return just a bit far for us to keep driving on a regular basis.

The place is ok, the only reason I go is because it's near to my house and I can't be bothered to drive to other gyms , I only use the weight area which is super small for a so called premium club, some nights it's absolutely ridiculous, weights left all over the place and generally untidy.

I've trained at gyms that cost half the price which are far far better.

The most annoying thing about this club is the lack of classes for those of us who do not work locally. The spin class on Monday has been moved from 7pm to 6.30 (with NO CONSULTATION) this excludes many people who used to go and we are paying peak fees. So it’s great that the reception staff are friendly blah blah blah but if you cannot get to a class how friendly they are will not make any difference.

I have been a member for many years now. Unfortunately the food is a disappointment every time. Its just so bland, either not enough dressing on a salad or sandwich bread thts been cut so poorly that looks like someones bitten into it or pasta that says pesto yet not a pinch of pesto or a halloumi and bean sandwich with one slice of halloumi and drenched in beans again no seasoning. I could go on and on about how poor the food is. I do feel like the chefs in the restaurant are perhaps trainees? Sorry DL i am complaining because i pay alot of money for the membership and the food is not cheap yet the delivery of it is poor. This really needs to be addressed by senior management.

Was a member for 7 years until one time they wanted to charge me £1 to borrow a padlock. Explained didn't have any cash in purse as only

Popped for quick swim with my young son. They then kindly offered to debit the money from my credit card!!! Spending £100 a month for 7 years and they were worried about £1!!!!

Plus food diabolical - do not eat in restaurant it's unorganised chaos and portion sizes wouldn't fill a small child

Unfortunately this club was built at the back of my house. Numerous complaints about the noise coming from the gym class instructors "whoop whooping " to Jo Miller both on phone and in person but she does nothing. Fire doors propped open which we were told wasn't allowed and that the rooms had air con. Billie from sales took my call earlier this week & said she would get Jo Miller to call , as expected no call. My daughter who has just finished a night was woken yet again this morning by the "whoop whoop instructor". Appalling way to treat neighbours. We put up with so much other noise from your club i just find that you ignoring this one element incredibly rude.

I'm so very upset ; my son goes every single day to this gym in Southend and clearly you can't leave anything lying around as it appears some members feel the saying 'finders keepers' applies or just take what they want!! There really are arseholes everywhere .... so the one that found' my 16 year old son's matt black, wireless beats - his Christmas present from his mum - at David Lloyd gym, Southend - I really hope karma bites you real hard as you clearly have no conscience and felt the need to take something that was not yours to take! Yes, he has been to reception and asked for help - that wasn't possible! Yes, he should have been more responsible and naive .... not the point! Disappointed that a place my son enjoys has a 'member' or members with no morals or values and has taught him a lesson he won't forget!

I have been a member at the gym since day one of it opening i ask the manger the other day i was thinking of getting a yearly membership for me and my granddaughter any chance of a discount has i have been a good member and all ways got on with every one members and staff i like the gym loads but all she said was 5% off what i pay each year which is about £50 i now know what i am worth to this gym thanks

David lloyd has been discriminate towards me and will not recommend anyone to you use them.

Can’t believe David Lloyds is taking their squash courts away to make it into another studio but this one has heart rate monitors � wait isn’t that what Fitbits do, just going to be like another gym think anyone that knows me will know how much I love racquetball as a sport really upsetting! Looks like I’m quitting David Lloyds.
