Hello, My name is Emma Baker

I thought I would explain how I started out…

I originally came up with our Breed Prefix of 'DINKYDOT' from inspiration of our first ever litter, they were so tiny, full of spots and totally adorable. So this gave me the inspiration for our name.

All of my life I have grown up with animals in our home, be in Dog, Cats and Horses. I am such an animal lover.
The first cat I owned was when I moved out of my parents and she was a brown tabby moggy cat which my partner Chris called 'Socks' because when she was a kitten it looked like she had socks on (not very original I know).
Then one day we got looking for a play mate for Socks and we stumbled across an advert for a gorgeous looking black silver spotted British Shorthair who was pedigree and registered with GCCF. We brought her from a lovely breeder and we called her 'Izzy' she was a beautiful cat and very pretty. Izzy spurred us onto look at trying to produce cats like her. So that's when it all started!

We currently have 6 BSH GCCF registered active girls Peppa, Jubilee, Gracie, Daisy and Pixielott. We used to have a gorgeous stud cat Albie but he has now been neutered and with a lovely couple enjoying his pampering. So we now use stud cats suited to our girls and look to improve the breed by choosing cats which will help bring out the best of the breed.

I must say I've loved every minute of meeting new breeders and learning new things when it comes to these gorgeous cats.

Although I am still in the process of mastering the showing world and trying to understand what is looked at when they are being judged but from speaking to other breeders this can take years, so we will have to see what the future holds!

In order to reserve our Kittens we will ask for a deposit of £150.

Our Kittens will be able to go to their new family from 13 weeks.
- They will be GCCF registered as non active in which you will receive and breeder registration card and a pedigree certificate.
- All kittens will be fully vaccinated (1st and 2nd vaccination)
- Checked by a vet on at least 2 occasions
- Regularly wormed
- Flea treated
- Microchipped
- a months free insurance
- Scratch post and litter trained
Our kittens are brought up in our home so will be used to family living and are handled daily so that they become the perfect loveable pet for their new owners.

Here is a list of some of the expenses involved when breeding cats:
- We have to check our cats are healthy and suitable to breed from so they are vet checked and tested for PKD, blood group, FIV and FELV.
- It's important that all our cats are upto date with their vaccinations to prevent them picking up any viruses.
- Stud Fees including travel costs to and from the studs address. This can sometimes be miles away from us depending who our queens are put too.
- Any Vet bills which may crop up and any emergencies. As this can be more common when breeding, especially if their are any complications at birth.
- Our cats are regularly wormed and flea treated.
- we like to keep out cats environment clean and regularly change their litter and bleach their trays.
And I must admit I like them to have nice things such as clean beds, scratch posts, toys and these are not cheap, but these cats are our pets and it's important they are spoilt as we love them dearly.
- When we have a litter of kittens we need to ensure the room is well heated and also use heatpads to prevent our kittens getting cold, so this adds to our electricity bill.
- From time to time I will be showing our Cats and there are entry fees and costs associated with a typical show day, i. e. Travel costs, food, equipment, etc
- our kittens are registered with GCCF and with every registration there is a fee.
- when we go on holiday we need have to get someone to care for our pets.
- also when the time comes our retired breeding queens will be spayed so that they can enjoy the rest of their life being a pampered pet.
