Ignition Fires (Dorking Stoves + Guildford Stoves) are recruiting to strengthen our team. For this new role we’re looking for what we’d describe as a “Handyman Plus”. You would be mainly involved with setting up and maintaining new displays in the three showrooms which requires a variety of multi-trade skills and a willingness to turn your hand to anything - simple carpentry and construction, plumbing, decoration etc. Building up fireplaces and flues: a little bit of studwork..., minor brick/blockwork and a little patch plastering/making good etc. None of it is that difficult for a practical, experienced person. We’re after a "jack of all trades" rather than a master of one particular aspect – though we would consider an ace plumber or builder that could turn their hand to the other aspects as well. A smaller aspect of the job would be to offer some help and cover on the delivery rota – delivering stoves and fireplaces out to customers’ homes using our taillift van – in support of, and as back up/cover for our main delivery driver. A further aspect of the job would be to offer support to the showroom staff in peak times. We’re not expecting a sales or fireplace expert, but the applicant should be presentable and happy to talk to customers in the showroom about the fires and stoves during peak times. The role would be based at our Guildford showroom but would involve work at our Dorking and Holmwood showrooms from time to time. An immediate start is available for this permanent position. The hours would be 8-30am to 5pm and the working week is Saturday +4 weekdays with Sunday plus either Weds/Thurs/Friday off. We could possibly look at a reduced week – 3 or 4 days but the Saturday is a key part as it is our busiest day. This is a great opportunity for someone that no longer wants to be on the tools full time but has a variety of practical skills and experience. Someone looking for a stable and long term position with one of the premier Stove and Fireplace suppliers in the South East. The job offers lots of variety and an interesting workload where every day would be different. Salary is flexible and negotiable according to the experience and capability of the applicant. Our new showroom at Pump Corner, and the Holly and Laurel Emporium at Holmwood will be open on Saturday 26th March 9am-5pm. (Our Guildford store is closed on Saturday). All three showrooms are closed Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Monday. We re-open fully as normal Tuesday 29th at 9am. Happy Easter everyone!!
