Yesterday we changed internet providers and were disconnected at “the office” for most of yesterday with a weak mobile signal most tasks couldn’t be completed.
A few anxious hours then the new fibre service kicked in and is much better than the old service. Phew!
Technology is great but even small businesses like ours rely on it to function properly.

WW1 Bunker restoration nearing completion. Just needs fitting out with antiques or reproduction WW1 items.
It will be available for living history school visits and campers. Watch this space 👀

At 1800 today the Met Office issued a “Yellow” warning for wind for our area. Under our policy we advise campers to consider their own safety. If this warning is upgraded to “Red” we ask campers to leave the site and issue vouchers. Please take care.

Sorry if recently been slow to pick up emails etc. A close family member unwell. As we are a bit stretched at the moment texting ahead your ETA can really help us organise ourselves for your arrival.

User

Our regular campers are great and look after our site and respect other campers.
Sadly this season there has been one or two selfish instances where tables and chairs left out for arriving campers have been moved to other pitches and logs left for campers whose arrival has been delayed have been taken. (No fun if you can’t have a campfire on your first night because someone has stolen your logs)
Please let us know if you see this happening, we only want campers who respect other campers at Dreamy Hollow. Anyone caught taking what isn’t theirs wont be returning.

The computerised booking system run has been throwing up some glitches recently. The IT guys know about it and other campsites on their system has been affected. Please be understanding. If our wardens appear to not know the exact details of your booking it’s not their fault. All issues will be resolved but it helps if you can arrive well within the 12 to 5 arrival slot.

All our pitches have unique characters just like people. Sometimes a pitch one person thinks is excellent doesn’t please another person. The pitch is the same but peoples needs differ. So we try and put enough information out there to help people make the right choice for them.
If your thinking of booking with us please read the pitch information carefully, as text is limited on the booking description we use words like “elevated” instead of “on top of a small hill”.
Also wa...tch the videos online which contain useful drone footage. If still in doubt email for more information.
It doesn’t happen often but we do occasionally get camper vans booking onto “small elevated pitches” or 8m family tents booked onto 5m wide elevated pitches. At slack times there are empty pitches we can often help, but at peak times the site is full and we can’t help. 😢

This is our current pitch layout. It’s not to scale but to give an idea of scale the total area for camping is 3.5 acres and the Hollow is 53m long (yes 53 metres !!). All pitches are booked exclusively but please note that two pitches Kevin’s and Secret Shade, West End of Glade and Firebasket End of Glade are adjacent so they can be booked together and treated as one large pitch. Great for camping with grandparents.

Sorry everyone, been a really hectic week, hope to catch up on messages and reply to them this weekend.

User

Thanks Amy for the great write up, really captures the essence of our site.

Take care campers a massive thunderstorm with hailstones the size of broadbeans breaking over Kings Lynn at the moment ! 😱

After August bookings usually drop off quickly and we drift gently to closedown in October but September is proving more popular this year so for those looking to escape after the schools go back here is what’s left for September. Favourite pitches like Taffy’s are already being snapped up.

Important reminder about online booking.
The images you see on screen are effectively quotes for the options you have selected. It enables you to browse before you decide. You don’t have any pitch booked until the money transfers and the booking system sends you an automatic booking confirmation email.
We are full most days now. To avoid us having to turn you away after a long journey, please double check you have a booking confirmation before you leave home.

User

Sorry campers we are just about full for August just a few spaces next week on Pippins, Camper Glade and Taffy’s but expect them to go very quickly. Book online via our website. Please remember bookings for the next day close at 1800 the night before.

User

All our pitches are unique and all bookings are made online. The booking system allows you to view the different pitches available, their size, characteristics and price before you pay.
Once payment details are entered a separate banking system deals with the payment. If card details are incorrect or a payment is refused the banking system will not issue instructions to the booking system to confirm the booking.
When payment clears the booking system automatically emails you...r booking confirmation.
If you haven’t received a confirmation please check that payment has left your bank, if it has, the most likely explanation is that you made a mistake typing in your email address.
A booking only exists if payment has been made and a booking confirmation has been emailed to you. Screenshots of the booking system are not confirmation of a booking as they are merely quotes for a prospective booking.
To save yourself a wasted journey please check that you have an official booking confirmation.

We often get asked about arrivals, so here is an explanation of why we ask campers to arrive between 12 and 5.
Set in 7.5acres of Woodland it can be a challenge to find your pitch, especially if it’s dark, so we like to meet you and show you around the site and to your pitch.
The welcome tour also includes a safety briefing, one of the most important briefings is how to find your way out of the site in the event of a fire. Another important bit of information is where to find... the key if a child gets locked in our double lock loos.
Cars are confined to the car park. (Cars, tents and woods are a fire disaster waiting to happen). If you arrive between 12 and 5 we can porter heavy items to your pitch using our little tractor and trailer. Everything else there are barrows for.
As part of the welcome tour the history of the site will be explained and the quirks of the plumbing will be warned about (basically don’t fiddle with the settings its all set up for your safety and comfort).
So please try and arrive before 5. If it’s impossible don’t panic, phone the warden before they go home and get advice over the phone. If you are a regular no worries. If new to Dreamy Hollow we will give you safety briefing over the phone. If it’s dark and your new to our site seriously consider postponing your arrival to the next day.

A really lovely group of people, we left the site in their hands for the weekend, it was decorated like a something out of a fairy tale, and then returned to the site us immaculately tidy. 🙂

User

Some Good News. 🙂The tinder dry field of stubble next to us has been ploughed in and the woodland is now damp enough to allow campfires on restricted rules. Any indication that our restricted rules are being ignored will change our assessment of the risk and may lead to the ban being reimposed.
Sad news that someone decided to steal a battery light from loo 1 that was intended to help fellow campers when the solar system doesn’t get enough Sunlight. Even sadder that someone d...ecided to open the electricity box on the ceiling in loo 1 (an adult or very tall child) and meddle with the switch settings which left the generator unable to heat the water. 😢
Thankfully dishonest campers who don’t care about anyone else are in the tiny tiny 2% minority. 98% of Dreamy Hollow Campers are honest, follow the campers code, help one another, and are a delight to host 🙂👍

Steady rain all day has been reducing fire risk. If samples of undergrowth pass our flammability test we could be going back to campfires under restricted rules next week. Let’s see what Mother Nature decides to do next.

Super place to stay, proper camping in beautiful setting, really helpful Warden. Highly recommended. The showers are brilliant too!

User

Quite simply, this is a camping experience to saviour, intimate pitches surrounded by Oak, Birch and pathways cut through underlying bracken, so considerate are fellow campers, it makes you feel like the woodlands all yours. Whilst we enjoyed the large premier Hollow pitch, I could also see myself very happy in any one of the other pitches. There are some other very interesting new pitches being made at the moment, I can't wait to see how they look next season.

Dreamy Hollow is a little gem.

Lovely welcome and beautiful place. A joy to be the only campervan on this well managed low impact site with a fascinating history. I look forwards to coming back :)
