Lush, verdant, fertile. Spring in Norfolk is full of life from farmers drilling the fields to wild bluebells and hares or geese over head
The River Nar is recognised as one of 10 most improved rivers and is a chalk stream tributary of the River Ouse deemed an area of special scientific interest for all the plant life and fish
Formerly a big transport river and main waterway to move cargo it also served 5 water mills. The river became less used in the 1880’s when the railways... came. In the 1980’s new laws prevented agricultural run off containing pesticides going into the river
Our incoming water will be initially mains supply but still drawn from the river. We have been awarded permission from the environment agency to put our cleaned waste water back into the river via a weir - no small feat
Just one of the ways we hope to connect to our origins and live harmoniously with the rich nature around us

Pretty soon we’ll be introducing you to our first hires. Until now our founders have been plugging away with no brewery and zero employees. All that’s about to change!
We’ve been workshopping with Phil and Joe from @5ht.design the past two days to plan our launch, next can releases and start talking about the tap room!
These guys have been on board with us from day one, they even helped with some #ar for our pitch to show augmented reality of the brewery in the barn
... They have worked on everything from can design to brewery layout, logo development, merch, digital and print material and tone of voice
It felt great to have two days to calibrate where we are as ‘a brand’, plan our launch and work on design development
Phil and Joe are two of a design trio taking a multidisciplinary approach to architecture, branding and 3D design. They use the latest technologies and have great conceptual skills

It’s really shaping up! Expect to see some dramatic changes in the coming weeks with all the guts and bones in place now we can charge ahead with internal electric runs and finishes

1) Our high level catwalk has been restored ready to hide all our cabling
... 2) Excavation ready on the south side to bury the sceptic tank
3 + 4) New walls (roof and floors) in on wood division
5) Drainage channels cut and 3m sumo tank buried in main brewhouse
6) Internal and external stonework repaired and scaffold coming down

Things to do in Norfolk part 1: Pine shoots and beach walks. A day trip from our site to Burnham Market and Holkham Beach and back in 4hrs. What else will you do in Norfolk when you visit?
We took a 30min drive from site to the stunning north Norfolk coast stopping at #chelseaonsea aka Burnham Market to pick up some picnic supplies @gurneysfishshop and @humblepiedeli resisted all the lovely antique shops and restaurants and pubs. The beach beckoned
... 4 miles on and we’d reached #Holkhambeach. We enjoyed our crawfish tails, mackerel pate, garlic anchovies and cornichon on sourdough bread. Fortified for the hike to the beach we set off
Felt a bit trippy and Truman Show as once we’d passed the pine forests and the horizon opened up to us with huge skies met and merged to a vast sweeping beach line
Marshy and windswept we carried on leisurely discovering salted seaweed shrubs and razor clams along the way. Hopping over the land locked puddles on this long, long sandy walk out to the coast
Quick coffee (beach cafe uses minimal and entirely compostable packaging on everything) and after a great drive through flint Knappen villages we were back in time to see our sheep grazing in the field.
Can’t wait for the summer when we’ll pick up a few beers to fling in the cooler to accompany such frolics
