HAS BEEN FOUND! :) I don't share all of these otherwise this would (very sadly) be a page about missing dogs rather than holidays but I was at this show with the owners of Rooster Barn so I feel there is a bit of a connection here and it is such a horrible thing to have happen (whether it's your car or horse box or whatever) that I would like to share on here and hope you can share too. Thank you!

Big, small, hairy, fast, growly, happy, slow, smart, scruffy? - yes, no matter what you are like you can bring all of your dogs with you on holiday with us! 😂😂🐾 www.eastrustoncottages.co.uk

All these absolutely STUNNING star scapes have been taken by Rosie Barrett a very talented photographer and ERC regular with her family and dogs for 10 years!! This is what our beautiful part of Norfolk, already gorgeous in the daylight, looks like at night! That's why we love it here. And why our guests keep coming back year after year .... Sun, stars, sky, sand. For you and all your dogs to enjoy!

User

What an amazing summer we have had this year - hot, sunny, beaches, bbqs! Now it's cooling down a bit but I don't mind that as it will soon be time to light those woodburners and cuddle up on the sofa with my dogs after a walk! Just about all of our houses have woodburners and sofas and the beaches in the autumn and winter are pretty much deserted. It's a perfect time to be on holiday with your dogs! :) <3

If you know anyone holidaying in the Hopton area (south of where our cottages are) could you share this with them. He is still missing but there was a very promising potential siting of a dog like him at Hopton recently. Thank you!

We’ve just had a lovely week at Badgers Retreat with our three greyhounds. Craig and Susan provided a great welcome pack and we’re on hand if we needed anything. The area has great local walks and we were lucky to see a variety of wildlife including a Barn Owl, deer, rabbits and foxes. The weather was awful the first couple of days but the cottage was so comfortable we just lazed about and then the sun came out and we were able to visit the beaches and also Fairhaven Water Gardens which is dog friendly too. The garden is great and the dogs had a fantastic time. We will definitely be back.

User

We spent a fantastic week at St Benets in Sea Palling. What an amazing property, and so close to the most dog friendly beach we have been to. St Benets is a very clean, very large house. The welcome pack was great, and our 2 labs loved the doggy biscuits. Everything has been thought of. Sea Palling is a small, very dog friendly place with a pub(great burgers), cafe, amusements and fish&chip shop. Our dogs were so excited to run into the sea. We can’t wait to book with East Ruston Cottages again next year, either back at St Benets, or another great property.

User

We recently stayed in Farthing Cottage in Trunch, the property was beautiful and had everything we needed and more, a real home from home. The welcome pack was a lovely touch and the dogs really enjoyed the biscuits left for them. The dogs loved the secure back garden and it was nice being able to let them play outside. There is a really nice local pub within walking distance, the beaches and gorgeous woodland walks are not far away either. Over all we had a fantastic time thank you.

User

We just returned home from a lovely holiday at Red Roofs in Hickling. It is a quirky, cosy house with the most gorgeous garden and views over Hickling Broad. We all agreed that the beds were the most comfortable we had slept in for ages, even in this hot weather. We bumped into the owner who was very friendly and helpful when we left behind sunglasses and a Tilley hat at the local pub! Our shopping order was refrigerated and stored before we arrived too. We felt very welcome.

We hired a variety of boats from Whispering Reeds and they were great. We highly recommend them. The local beaches are a dog walking joy and the flower meadows around the farmers' fields were glorious.

Our old English Setter was content and pottered about and our little Romanian Street Dog seemed to grin all week long.

Thank you - a wonderful holiday was had by all.

User

We have just returned from our week at St Benets, there was 6 of us ladies that met through walking our dogs (so 8 dogs) . It was just wonderful, when we arrived there was a super welcome pack and the house was spotless, bedding was exceptionally clean and the whole house so welcoming. We cooked most evenings and there was every utensil that we could need in the draws. The walks were amazing ,straight from the front door and nearly onto the beach or through the ally opposite for the coastal walk. Thanks you Sue and the team, we were so happy to find a company that would take 8 dogs, we will be booking again. X

User

We had an amazing week at The Old Piggery. We took 10 dogs, a real mix of breeds and personalities. A couple of them are reactive towards dogs and people but we all (including the dogs) had a fantastic time.

The garden was secure with very little going on beyond the boundaries so the dogs could relax and lounge around while we did. The walks close to where we stayed were perfect. We didn’t meet anyone, any dogs or any livestock. The beaches are fantastic. Very dog friendly. We took the more tricky dogs out to the beach early and the others came with us later in the day. All of the dogs had an amazing time free running and playing which meant all of us humans also could enjoy and relax our break.

The Old Piggery has pretty much everything covered for both the dogs and humans. I cannot wait to stay again. I would highly recommend to anyone.

User

We had 3 nights at Patikipa which despite the awful weather was a peaceful and cosy little chalet. Having Misty the boat hired from Ken was great for getting about. Lots to do in the area and plenty of dog friendly places to take refuge from the winter gales. Especially recommend the seal colony and 40s tea room at Horsey Gap. Lovely to stay at a place which is truly dog friendly. Can't fault the service provided by Sue, Jan and Ken. We'll definitely return to East Ruston when looking for a short break and I've already recommended them to other doggy friends. Thank you.

User

This was our third holiday using East Ruston Cottages, which again have proved to be great! We have previously stayed in Running Hare Barn, and The Piggery, but sadly these were both already booked....so this time we went to Red Roofs at Hickling Broad. The house was large and welcoming, and although the kitchen is dated, everything was clean and everything worked. The location is stunning and the gardens were brilliant, especially the secure back garden which our 3 dogs loved. We had a fantastic time and will use East Ruston Cottages again.

User

This was our first time staying with an East Ruston Cottage and we couldn't have been more delighted. Our holiday cottage, The Crib at Happisburgh was a true delight - just like a home from home, we loved the décor and the lurcher pictures; it was extremely clean and tidy on arrival, with a fab assortment of welcome goodies, and a very well stocked kitchen. Our four lurchers and our daughter's French bulldog made good use of the dog beds and throws for the sofas! Thank you for not only accepting five dogs, but for making them welcome too. Had fun exploring the surrounding countryside and trying different pubs.... Fantastic views from the church tower in Happisburgh.

If you could just run your business model over other parts of the country now please Sue.... many thanks to you, your team and the Crib's owners xx

User

Spent a lovely week at The Lodge. All communication and booking was trouble-free and both The Lodge and location were perfect for a couple of lively Labradors and their owners! Lovely secluded and secure garden plus fabulous decking area for enjoying the amazing weather we had. Morning strolls along the Weavers Way which is a 5 minute walk away and highlights were Saxham Beach, Salhouse Broad and Bacton Woods. Hope to return next year now we know stress-free, great holidays with our two are indeed possible!

User

Spent a lovely week at Thatchers in Happisburgh with my family and our three dogs. This house and garden made an amazing holiday home.

The kitchen was well stocked with plates etc, and everything was lean and tidy. The dogs were catered for with bowls, beds, blankets and towels. My lurcher especially enjoyed sleeping on the chair in the snug.

With sun loungers and graden chairs and tables we spent some lovely hours in the garden.

The beach was within walking distance and we all enjoyed a paddle. One of my boys walked to Sea Paling and back along the beach. We ate in the dog friendly Hill House pub, visited Happisburgh Owls and went up the Church Tower.

This was the first time we had used East Ruston Cottages and we had a very enjoyable week. The cake was a nice surprise.

User

Just ended a beautiful stay at The Crib and my 2nd stay with ERC. The large garden was super for my dogs and 100% escape proof even for the tiny chihuahua.

Stones throw away from the lighthouse and Happisburgh beach which is lovely and very dog friendly. Not far from Stalham for fish and chips or a Chinese or Tesco’s. Cottage was beautiful and very homely....I’m certainly going to miss that comfy bed, and Cisco will miss his big bed under the stairs!

Cannot recommend East Ruston cottages enough!

User

Just back from a wonderful week in The Crib at Happisburgh. My first stay at an ERC property and couldn't believe how lovely, clean and well appointed it was. It had everything for both humans and dogs and was only a few mins walk to the beach.

The long garden was lovely to either relax in or play ball with my dog.

The local pub welcomes dogs and even had a bowl of dog biscuits ready to say hello to them!

I can't praise The Crib too highly and would certainly recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday with their dog(s) on the beach.

User

Just arrived home from six nights at St Benets, Sea Palling. The house is massive and although there was only two of us with two dogs we felt at home straight away. It is decorated really nicely with some great photos on the walls. The sofas and beds comfy too (which isn’t always the case in holiday homes). The garden was fully enclosed so we knew the dogs would be able to play outside safely, although the beach walks wore them out so much they didn’t need to play out much ! The house is so close to the beach which was amazing . The cafe near the sea front sells great donuts and burgers too. We also spent two afternoons on the Broads which was very enjoyable. Will be back soon.

It was our first holiday with East Ruston Cottages, but we sure found gold with them and their beautiful properties. We chose Milestone Barn as it fitted with all our needs, including mine of a wet room, shower stool, toilet surround and all on one level.

The barn was beautiful and well equipped. We loved sitting at the table and looking out over the valley. Saw a Muntjac a few times. Lovely walks, with the one across the road our favourite.

Lovely countryside, with friendly people. We had dinner one evening in The Vernon Arms at Southrepps. Fab food at reasonable prices. Also went to The Greyhound at Hickling. My friend and I have four Greyhounds and a pointer between us. Three Greyhounds went with us and they got a nice welcome with treats. So many places allow dogs inside.

Sue very kindly dog sat for us, the evening we went to The Vernon Arms. How many holiday companies would do that?

This was my first proper holiday for about 30 years and it totally surpassed my expectations. Before we left we had booked for another week at the barn next year.

So if you want a lovely property, in stunning countryside for yourself and your dogs, Milestone Barn is definitely a place to go. Of course there are loads of other properties to check out on the web site.

User

I can only re-iterate what others have said. The Crib is a wonderful holiday cottage but when you add the dog friendliness it is just amazing. Why can't there be more places like this. As I and other people have said you will have expand the agency Sue as the 7 hour drive is a heck of a way to go with a dog.

Had a great week in Orchard Cottage

This is an absolute gem of a cottage, we’ve had a great week despite the changeable weather. Dogs had a great time in the garden and we’ve returned home well rested from sleeping in very comfortable beds. House is well equipped in the kitchen, plenty of space for raw dog food storage and human food!

Enjoyed the log burner for the cold nights but even without that the house is really cosy. Netflix access an definite plus in the colder months.

It was a pity that beach access has been hammered all along the coast, Happisburgh and Winterton showing the signs of it.

User

Came home yesterday from our first stay at Rooster Barn in Trunch! What an amazing little place! it was a very well equipped and a homely place to stay! The welcome hamper was amazing and the dogs loved their goodies as well as loving the garden! We have already booked our next visit!

Thanks for a lovely relaxing week from myself, Gary, Chloe (niece) and the 4 pooches Buddy, Lola, Ruby and Daisy Doo xx

User

A visit to one of your cottages had been on our wish list for a while, and this year we made it. We had a lovely time at Badger's Retreat, being warmly welcomed by Craig on arrival. We were particularly grateful for the home made cake after our 5 hour journey! The cottage is very cosy and had everything we needed for our week-long stay. Our two dogs enjoyed the garden and wood burner in equal measure, such was the changeable nature of the weather that week!

We also - very unexpectedly - spent a couple of nights at Patikipa. One of our Greyhounds became poorly during our stay, which meant that we couldn't leave Norfolk on the Saturday as we had planned. With some fabulously speedy help from Sue, we were welcomed very warmly indeed to Patikipa, one of the riverside lodges. Jan could not have been more understanding or helpful, and even had a carrot cake waiting for us when we arrived. Patikipa is incredibly peaceful and just what we needed after a worrying few days to and from the vets. Our boy in particular enjoyed the peacefulness of the area, happily watching the boats go by. He is usually very nervous and particularly sensitive to change, so seeing him so relaxed was a real pleasure.

Thank you to everyone for your hospitality and help last week; we very much appreciated it. See you in November for our next trip!
