What a fabulous place! My husband and I have just enjoyed chilli tasting and afternoon tea at Edible Ornamentals. Lots of lovely products to try made with chillies - caramel, mayo, salsa, marmalade, syrup, nut butter and lots more! The afternoon tea wasn’t really chilli orientated which will please those people that are scared by the thought of burning their mouth on chillies! Our hosts for the afternoon were the owners, both are very knowledgable on all things chilli and are obviously passionate about what they do. We’re already planning our next visit!

User

We went for the afternoon tea, tour and tasting experience. Could not fault it. Brilliant afternoon, felt so personal too. Great food. Thank you Shawn and Joanna

User

We had a fantastic time here today! Loved every second of it & even got to take home our own chilli plant. I can’t wait to use all of the sauces, marmalade’s and salsa’s that we bought!

We will definitely be back to visit again!

Thank you

User

We got a voucher for tour and afternoon tea. What a great afternoon! The tour by Shaun was very informative. That guy knows his chillis! We bought 3 chilli plants and are looking forward to our crop.

User

Was given a chilli tour and tasting voucher as a gift. Thoroughly enjoyed the morning, learnt a lot and tasted some incredible ingredients. Would highly recommend.

User

To be honest it’s all been said before. Friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic team. Great afternoon spent getting hints & tips for growing our own chillis, but couldn’t resist getting a head start by buying a few plants. Can’t wait to return to “PYO” Thank you.

This is a great place to visit, we went for the chilli growers workshop and spent 3+ hours with Shaun whose passion for the chilli is both obvious and infectious.

If you are interested in learning about the chilli, how to grow it, how to harvest it, how to cook with it, in fact anything chilli related at all then give them a call if or check their website, it will be a few hours very well spent. They have various workshops available.

The chilli tasting at the end f the workshop was an eye opener, the difference in flavour - and heat - is explained in detail while trying different chillis from 2000 on the Scoville scale upto 400,000 and above!

Check out the restaurant and shop while there too, some great products for sale,

I had the tour given to me as a present as I am a fan of all things Chili. The tour is great. It manages to be informative, entertaining and fun and a great opportunity to try some great produce.

There's some guidance for people growing their own, a tour of the facility, pick your own to take away then a tasting session to finish.

We hung around for lunch as the food from the site restaurant looked great. We weren't disappointed. The chili earl grey tea was delicious and our meals were excellent.

We then stocked up in the site shop before heading home.

Big credit to Shawn and the rest of the team. The passion and pride in what they do is evident and the tour experience is really enjoyable.

I did a sauce swap with Shawn and he sent me Nutty professor peanut butter smooth, nagalicious pink grapefruit marmalade and dads hot sauce.

I probably wouldn't have gone for the peanut butter so it was nice to try something different. Firstly the quality of the roasted peanut butter was excellent and then after the smooth nutter flavour was the mild heat at the end. Nice combo. I know there are other peanut butters with more heat but this one worked really well. My youngest loves peanut butter and loved this as well.

The nagalicious grapefruit marmalade was again something i wouldn't have gone for normally but again this was great. A lot hotter than i thought it would be but with a great consistency and taste. I actually had this a few times with the peanut butter. Very unique taste and very morish.

The dads hot sauce was pretty hot and a chunky consistency rather than smooth. It worked really well as a relish in burgers and was very popular at a BBQ i had. Great work.

All in all 3 great tasting products from a great company who grow, make, guide and talk all things chilli. Recommended.

I booked this experience for my chilli loving partner, we were able to go on the day after his fiftieth birthday. We arrived early and were greeted very warmly by the staff and had a coffee in the cafe while we waited. You can also have lunch there if you wish, the menu is obviously very chilli orientated! We had a quick talk on how to grow chillies at home then set off on our tour in a group of a dozen or so, our guide was a lovely American chap who showed us the poly tunnels which contained thousands of chilli plants and explained the different varieties. We were able to pick our own fresh chillies to take home. Our guide was so enthusiastic and passionate about his work and explained how the plants are commercially grown by the family and how the farm came about several years ago. We returned to the cafe to taste some of the products made and sold on site. We then tasted the fresh chillies themselves, my partner even had a tiny piece of the world's hottest chilli which is presently the Carolina Reaper - lots of sweating and drinking of milk followed!

This was brilliant, highly recommended for chilli lovers everywhere, our lovely guide made it so interesting - an unusual and different experience.

Edible Ornamentals .......... great place to visit but I must add a specific review for their Sweet Chilli Sauce .....My new favourite secret ingredient so far I have added it to homemade special fried rice and a simple Oil and balsamic vinegar salad dressing ......Boom it just adds that little something else ...You have to try this next time you are passing, in fact make a specific visit you on't be disappointed

User

Attended a chili growers workshop today. Shawn (our host) was informative, enthusiastic, and passionate about the subject. I took away some simple ideas that will make a huge difference to the crop levels on next years chili harvest. The tasting at the end took my heat threshold to a whole new level. I've previously visited on a tasting tour, and that was equally as enjoyable.

User

A great place to visit to find out how much you didn’t know about chillis!

Our host was very passionate and knowledgeable about his chilli farm and indeed all types of chillis.

The tasting session was excellent and nothing was too much trouble.

Who knew that there were so many types of chilli and with their own distinct taste. Will return for sure.
