About Emmetts Garden Nt

A Garden for all seasons; come and enjoy a peaceful woodland walk, learn about the Garden’s fascinating history, or search out some of the rarest plant species to be found in the UK.

Left forgotten at the beginning of the century, Emmetts was saved from the brink of destruction by the Trust who, since then, have striven to restore it to its former glory. The nearby ruins of what was once Weardale Manor and its exotic Gardens are testament to how close Emmetts came to being lost forever.

From tales of intrepid plant hunters, to breathtaking panoramic views over the Weald of Kent, Emmetts has everything to offer anyone that wishes to come and see.

Good news - the issue with the water supply has been fixed and Emmetts Garden will be open as normal today. So head over for a walk through the gardens - but don't forget your scarf and gloves as it's a little chilly today

What beautiful weather it has been today, just what's needed to cure those January blues.

#onthisday in 1985 the award winning British drama, 'A Room with a View' was released, which was partially filmed here at Emmetts Garden. The perfect setting for a beautifully romantic film

As part of the North Garden restoration project we’re planning a complete overhaul of the area, with new plantings, new paths, flowing water and ponds. Come and see how we are doing so far to bring the vision of previous owner Frederic Lubbock back to this rare Edwardian Garden.

User

Lots of family fun to be had on the Terrifying tree trail, which tree will you find the most scary?

Brighten up your week with a visit to Emmetts. See the roses that are still in bloom, and the vibrant autumn colour as you walk through the garden and woodland.https://bit.ly/2fcamKv

Whatever time of the year always a great visit, but as now when bluebells at their best sublime. Amazing caring, kind and knowledgeable staff / volunteers huge thanks to you all, Happy Easter.

User

What a place would not have found it if we did not do the geocaching which led us up the hill to the tea rooms will be going back to sit and relax and take in the amazing views

User

Peaceful, quiet and calm - a lovely small NT place to go and blow the cobwebs away...we will be back for the bluebells

User

My wife and myself had such an amazing time here with our camera's. The staff were so friendly and their flower knowledge was first class.

User

Lovely Garden and Forrest at any time of year. The actual gardens and toy/ games hut is wonderful as well as the large field overlooking Ide Hill a great place for a picnic or flying a kite. The trim trail and adventure part is great for children to climb, build and explore. And having only done one of the looped walks through the woods it was just challenging enough for our 6 year old while we hunted out some Geo Cache's. Wonderful Views of the surrounding valley back up the top of the hill past the pump station. Great day out. A must for any garden lover.

User

Its a lovely place for any ages, a lovely walk around the beautiful gardens, the views were amazing!

Lots of outside play areas for children, so many hiding places an trees to run in an out of. Plenty of green areas for kids to run free or have a family picnic.

The stable tea room wasn't too expensive and the carrot cake was gorgeous.

User

Great fun doing the pumpkin trail yesterday with the small and big kids amongst us! Beautiful gardens and what a lovely time of year to go too...love Autumn xc

User

Beautiful swathes of bluebells in the woodland walk. Probably best to take a picnic due to crowds and small café. Out of bluebell season I imagine it would be quieter. Rest of the gardens very nice with some areas under renovation.

User

Beautiful landscaped gardens , especially at this time of year with the sea of Bluebells and the Magnolia trees all in full bloom . The Easter egg hunt was aimed at younger children , mine range from 9-11 years but still enjoyed it. The Play park was also captivating for them . And to finish off the afternoon we sat in Deck chairs on top of the hill whilst watching the children play cricket and croquet and admiring the beautiful view. Highly recommended to suit all ages from toddlers to Adults . Would definitely visit again 💕.

User

Absolutely beautiful, the burnt toffee tree was "doing its thing"... The wedding cake tree looked fabulous, the acers in the rock garden looked great and the tea and cake were excellent.

User

A stunning Sunday afternoon was spent here yesterday. My boys aged 5 and 2 had a wonderful time jut running around exploring and climbing trees. The Stables tearoom had lovely cakes and was a real treat.

Very colourful shurbs and plants about for some fab photo opportunities. Plus the bluebells were all out further down the wood. Great time and will definitely be back.

User

A peaceful garden with an abundance of flowers from all seasons to behold at different times of the year.

I do recommend especially the rhodies and azaleas in March/April, the tulips in March/April , magnolia and bluebells in May /June , the handkerchief tree in summer.

User

A lovely place to visit. Nice and peaceful. Beautifully kept gardens, a great play area for the children and a nice woodland walk.

My girls loved the giant ant hunt.

User

A fantastic garden that is especially good in the spring with rhododendrons and bluebells, but with a fine rock garden and rose garden. At the moment the daffodils and crocuses are in full bloom.

User

A beautiful tranquil place. So much beauty a must see place many many varieties of shrubs flowers trees etc.

User

A beautiful garden that's worth visiting at any time of the year. Our visit was full of Spring flowers ROM daffodils to magnolias. The grandchildren love the wigwam and the dog enjoyed his walk. Always a pleasure to visit Emmett's

User

We had a really enjoyable morning visiting the gardens and the very lovely Shirley ( a volunteer) telling us the history and the plans for the future. Nice cuppa to end the morning

User

Lovely place to walk and relax in , beautiful woodlands and gardens. We have spent many a day there with our three boys and enjoyed the National Trust family camp there, can't wait to camp again in such fabulous landscape !

User

Lovely place to go in all the different seasons. Hard stony hilly paths for wheel chairs etc so need strong muscles pushing but worth it.
