Feathers, Wadesmill Description

Originally a 17th century coaching inn, but extensively refurbished, The Feathers was originally called The Prince’s Arms and had been owned by various blacksmiths and tanners before being renamed in 1670. Today you’ll find the inn, with its convivial atmosphere and ivy-clad walls, a perfect mix of beautifully conserved buildings and modern facilities that will make your stay in this pretty Herts village totally memorable and relaxing.

Please note that dogs are allowed on the ground floor rooms and in the bar, but not in the restaurant.

Well what a day and what a turn out for Carrie’s Canine Stroll and a fabulous £500 was raised for the defibrillator fund!
Massive thanks to everyone who took part and for those who donated cakes.
Special thanks to Della Kimmins, Carrie and Sara (sorry couldn’t tag you) for organizing and Sue Topham for the epic sandwich making skills and the 101 cakes!
... We have the best customers, thank you.

Due to a much higher demand than initially thought (which is ace by the way so thank you) we now do not have any spaces left for the buffet.
You are of course more than welcome to join the walk, and come for drinks at The Feathers where will still be serving normal main menu food.
Hope to see lots of you later x

Walk ONLY (adults/kids) = £5 Adult walk and buffet = £12 Kids walk, buffet and egg hunt = £8
As many villagers may be aware, Carrie was fortunate enough that paramedics arrived before she went into cardiac arrest and had to be resuscitated. Sadly, this isn’t always the case so we are fundraising to have defibrillators in Thundridge, Wadesmill and High Cross to ensure that anyone in our area who may suffer a cadiac arrest will be given the best possible chance.

Some Easter fun with the wonderful Wayne! Don’t forget those dancing pants!

What a lovely afternoon we have just spent in this lovely pub.

With friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere I can't recommend it highly enough.

The food was cooked to perfection and the cheesecake well......where do I start?

I would call in here just to have a piece of the cheesecake, it was absolutely delicious.

User

We have been here several times over the last 3 months and we must say what a great place this is to eat and drink. It's reasonably priced, the food is delicious and perfect sized portions and the staff are always so friendly. We have been on quiet days and very busy days and the service is always 5* - highly recommend

User

We had our staff team Christmas meal here. Food was excellent, generous portions, great service. The mushroom starter was absolutely delicious and the Christmas dinner plus extra gravy. Would certainly recommend. 10/10 (only negative was Christmas pudding was a bit small)

User

Since may years I am staying a lot of nights in the Feathers. This evening I am in one of the refurbished rooms. The room looks beautiful and smells as completely new! My compliments to Catherine and her staff!!

User

Lovely setting. Friendly staff and great food. Highly recommend the hog burger , comes with pulled pork and apple sauce too! Good pint of beer from a well managed cellar too! Lovely place.

User

Beautiful Hotel

Extremely welcoming the moment you worked in.

Room was lovely and clean and very comfortable

Restaurant was great lots to choose from and great portions and piping hot.

We're be back

User

The room was modern, comfortable and clean with lovely shower with rain head and separate adjustable shower, iron and hairdryer and a single and a half sized bed. The view was a bit shabby but private; gardens at the rear of the building could do with some tlc and design. Good choice on the breakfast menu and the full english was just right for me portion wise but the sausage was a bit too crispy and tasteless but it was not greasy and the rest of it was lovely. No self service on the fresh coffee and one cup served - so if you like morning coffee you might have to ask for another cup. Nice breakfast rooms, clean, bright and sunny aspect.

User

The fish & chips are too scrummy to describe. Oh just ok then, the battery is light & tasty, the chips perfectly cooked & fluffy & the presentation with it own little bottle of vinegar well done

User

Had lunch Sunday 29th January.Service was very slow and inattentive. We were in a party of 9, five had the carvery. 2 out of the remaking 4 orders came back wrong. I was given chicken pie in stead of the beef and ale pie! The wine we ordered was not cold, although they did offer an alternative. It would have been nice to have been offered a free drink as a gesture! I understand they had just reopened after refurbishment and obviously had some teething problems.

It would not stop me going back as the food was good.

User

Went for lunch yesterday with two 5 year olds and a teenager. Staff largely indifferent, food mediocre- long wait, vegetables cold, children's meal did not come in together. Took ages to gain attention to get bill and then it was very wrong when arrived. Very disappointing indeed. Doubt we'll be back any time soon.

User

Unfortunately not a good experience. Food poor and cold all 8 of us had to send our food back to be warmed as arrived cold to the table. Some roasts had potatoes some didn't - veg was cold and tasteless. Seems red wine was a problem too - three on the menu weren't available. Shame as decor was lovely and pub comfortable good and service were the problem.

User

Really disappointed in the meal that we had, the food does not live up to its description in the menu, very bland, kid size portions and very over priced will not be going back.

User

Not been for a long while and we won’t be going back anytime soon. Worst carvery I’ve ever had. The turkey was nice but just about warm enough when it was served. The rest was pure terrible - cold, dry veg, tasteless cold potatoes, parsnips. I could have played football with the stuffing! Awful, awful food, so disappointing.
