Yoga teacher offering Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, Pregnancy, Postnatal, Restorative & Children's Yoga group classes, private tuition, workshops & retreats in Bicester, Oxfordshire

Felicity Wood Yoga Description

My love for yoga developed during my eight year career in marketing. Discovering how it offered deep release from the pressures of the high-paced achievement-driven corporate world, I found balance and clarity of mind through regularly practicing yoga. This empowered me to take the decision to make teaching yoga my full time career; driven by the possibility of helping people to let go of physical and mental tension, and to find a greater sense of ease and well-being.

A former marathon runner and Ironman® triathlete, I was also captured by the power of yoga to energise and transform the body and mind. I bring to my yoga practice a deep understanding of how to harness muscle energy in order to build core strength and stability. Bringing awareness to the body with a clear focus on precision and alignment, my classes combine flowing movement and static postures to energise, strengthen and release.

My classes are suitable for all experience levels, from complete beginners to the more advanced. I teach with awareness and compassion for each individual’s needs and abilities and I dedicate a high level of personal attention to each student to ensure that postures are performed accurately and safely. I also work with the clear intention of helping each individual to develop their yoga practice progressively over time.

My practice and teaching is rooted in Hatha yoga but has been influenced by a wide variety of yoga styles, including Anusara, Sivananda, Vinyasa flow and Iyengar. I have been inspired by studying with experienced teachers from around the world including Laura Gilmore, Jeff Phenix, Jason Crandell, Anna Ashby, Meghan Currie and Bridget Woods Kramer. I have also spent time in India, where I practiced at the Sivananda ashram in Kerala.

During this workshop we’ll focus on yoga postures which target areas of the body that are most used and prone to injury for runners. We’ll discover how yoga can improve performance and efficiency, and prevent injury, through the development of core strength, flexibility, muscle endurance and mental focus and the improvement of body alignment and range of motion.
As a former marathon runner and Ironman® triathlete, I’ve experienced the impact that endurance sports can have on ...the body. Due to my interest in sport and fitness, I’ve always approached my yoga practice with a strong awareness of alignment and precision. I bring to my teaching an understanding of functional movement and knowledge of how to build core strength and stability whilst also increasing range of motion.
During this workshop the yoga practice will explore Hatha Yoga techniques to release tight muscles and increase range of motion, whilst also building core strength and stability.
It will give you an insight into how yoga can be an important cross-training practice to complement your training, both to improve your running form and to care for your body at the same time.
The workshop is suitable for all experience levels, including complete beginners. All equipment is provided.
The investment is £25. You can book via the tickets link or visit my website https://felicitywood.co.uk/

✨ Two stunning retreat days in the Cotswolds this weekend ✨
The theme was Reconnection: we practiced yoga, walked, soaked in the hot tub, ate delicious healthy food, explored the impact of mindset and nutrition, and finished each day with a gong bath.
Huge thanks to all those involved: Carole Love for the wonderful gong bath, Nicola Ménage for the mindset coaching, Louise Lewis for the nutrition workshop and Charlotte Turner for the gorgeous food.
... I’m looking forward to many more retreats at this stunning venue 💗

This 7 week course, running from Monday 25th February until Monday 8th April, is the ideal way to learn or revisit the fundamentals of yoga. It will introduce you to the key yoga postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama) and meditation practice. You will be taught with clear instruction at a pace that will ensure learning and development in technique; improving your alignment, posture, strength and flexibility, whilst also allowing you to relax.
The learning environ...ment is non-competitive and supportive. It doesn’t matter how old you are, how big or small your body is or whether you’re male or female. There’s a yoga mat waiting with your name on it. You don’t need to be flexible, fit or strong to start. That comes as a consequence of practicing yoga; it’s not a prerequisite.
The practice will build each week, allowing you to establish a strong and safe foundation from which you can confidently explore regular group classes, such as my Hatha Yoga classes which are the ideal next step.
All equipment is provided.
The investment is £70 for the seven week course.

This retreat day is an opportunity to immerse yourself in Hatha Yoga; to give yourself the time and space to be in the present moment to bring a little more clarity to your world. The yoga will be deeply nourishing, allowing you to restore and recharge, and will leave you feeling energised and revitalised.
In the morning, the yoga practice will consist of meditation, pranayama (breath work) and asana (physical postures), allowing you to find space in the mind and in the body.... We’ll then have a nourishing lunch as a group so that you have the opportunity to get to know your fellow yogis, followed by a short walk in the surrounding countryside to bring some fresh air into your lungs and a glow to your cheeks. In the afternoon we’ll have a Restorative Yoga practice to aid complete relaxation.
Lunch is included. All food will be vegetarian, gluten free and refined-sugar free. Any other dietary requirements can be catered for; just let me know. The yoga equipment is provided but please bring wellies or walking boots and a coat for our walk.
All experience levels are welcome, including beginners.
If you would give this day retreat as a gift, gift vouchers are available. Please contact me for more details.
The investment is £80. Booking is via the tickets link or visit https://felicitywood.co.uk/

Establishing a home practice is a great way to increase the frequency of your yoga practice in between classes to bring greater benefit to your mental and physical wellbeing.
By having an independent practice there’s space to explore the postures and practices in your own time. This allows you to choose what you do, move at your own pace and to listen and respond to your body according to how you feel on any particular day.
People often say to me that they’d like to practice ...at home in between classes however they are unsure how to go about it. In this workshop we’ll explore topics such as timing, frequency, equipment and space, whilst also discussing how to choose which postures to practice and how to put them together. You’ll come away with some sequences to get you started, including asana (postures), pranayama (breathwork) and meditation.
The first section of the workshop will be discussion and exploration, and we’ll end with a gentle practice.
All yoga equipment is provided, however you are welcome to bring your own. Please bring a notebook and pen and a bottle of water.
There will be the opportunity to purchase yoga mats and props at the end.
A basic knowledge of some yoga poses is recommended but not essential. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding the suitability of this workshop.
The investment is £25.
Booking is via my website (see booking link)

In a world where we are surrounded by distractions and to-do lists, where we are striving and overexerting, we are often pulled in multiple directions. And in that busyness we lose touch with who we truly are.
Through taking time out to reflect and reconnect with the multiple layers of our being; our body, our breath and our mind, we can rediscover the joy that is inherently within every one of us so that it can infuse into all dimensions of our lives and allow us to thrive.

Yoga For Runners - I really enjoyed this workshop. Felicity's style is extremely friendly and welcoming. The group was a nice size so you felt you received enough individual attention and the modern venue was in a lovely quiet rural location. The exercises were challenging but fun and Felicity knew enough about each participant to ensure that any problem areas were covered and that we had alternative poses to try if necessary. All in all a fabulous session. I'm relatively new to yoga and can really feel the benefits in terms of my running even after only four or five months of practising. Highly recommended.

Felicity introduced me to yoga and I haven't looked back since! She spends time with each individual to make sure you are in the correct position. The classes were focused but also really good fun- the perfect balance. I definitely caught the yoga bug with felicity's help, and I'm sure she will inspire many more

User

Felicity caters for all abilities and makes everyone feel welcome. I have been going for over a year and have improved a lot but still get challenged.
