By the time you've chosen the right one for the car you're working on (PCD), then put each nut in it, you may as well have done them one at a time! 🤣 Plus this is a potential cross thread nightmare! You never gun a nut/bolt straight on, always a few turns by hand first... Then finish with a torque wrench! :)

Was ready to setup the Newman mechanical lifters when we discovered a very very common CVH problem... worn cam lobes! Whilst Newman make the most reliable cam kits for the CVH these days I've still seen plenty that have worn out long before they should :( You may also notice the double shim/spacer under where the rocker arms sit, this is often necessary if the valves have been replaced/upgraded and now sit further back into the head... the stem protrudes higher and takes up all the adjustment clearance.

Off to the body shop for a new battery tray and a freshen up of the bay...

Fresh parts arrived for two of our bigger project cars today...

Having put a hole in the sump it turns out the oil pick up pipe had snapped too, the original was plastic as you can see but oddly enough the genuine VW replacement part is metal...

We don't do MOT's in house but we can take your car to our local testing station (Kwik Fit Sudbury) and do any work needed to pass, the MOT itself is only £35 🙂

Raj's Helix clutch and then the engine and box all back in the bay...

With these being half price I had to take the opportunity to stock up and then give the workshop a much needed clean and hoover! 🙂 Cleanliness is so important to me and when it comes to engine building it's paramount!

Bottom end inspection... If you didn't build the engine yourself or see it running it's worth the time to make sure it's good before going to the trouble of fitting it only to find there's something wrong!

Well the Turbo in my legs needed new spindle, he also really greased my gears with a well oiled hand. Great service from a great guy ;)

Replaced rear crank seal,clutch,driveshaft seals and gave advice on items that will need to be replaced before mot..happy days!.

Karl fitted a towbar in my car last year. He did a great job and was very professional. Would highly recommend him
