We had such a lovely meal here. Chose the beef goulash and a couple of salad/ pickle side dishes which were all delicious.

Between courses we were left alone to chat and then offered desserts without being rushed or hassled. I had pancake filled with sweetened cottage cheese which was perfect and something completely new to me.

Please note this is a 'bring your own' restaurant so we brought red wine which the friendly staff were more than happy to uncork and serve.

Please try this place if you haven't already. It's a bit off the beaten track but easy to find and well worth it. Lucky Norwich. Another gem.

We dined at Food Shack on Friday and it was absolutely wonderful.

Food was very delicately cooked and the service was very friendly and polite.

We hope they’ll expand the menu in the future, like cherry soup, perch (fish), duck and cold meat and so on.

They are BYOB with no cork charge policy that we enjoyed as well.

We certainly recommend here and must say that we are lucky to have this lovely restaurant in Norwich!

We came for dinner yesterday and both had wild boar goulash with dumplings.

I'm originally from Poland and love goulash and any food that is homemade.

The meat was tender and portions were very generous. It was one of the best meal I ever had. You can bring your own wine which is a bonus.

Will definitely return. Norwich Gem ��

Warm welcome and helpful waiter who explained the difference between similar sounding dishes. Food was delicious, generous portions. Dumplings were excellent. Menu is quite limited but this is sometimes a good thing. The traditional Hungarian goulash was rich and delicious. We also had 2 different chicken dishes o- one creamier,the other more tomato based, and a lamb goulash. The less adventurous eater in our group of 5 had a breaded chicken and chips which also looked very good and every plate was cleared. No space for pudding so can’t comment on that. We will come back to try other dishes. And maybe pudding. Good value, good food, good service. ��

Visited here January 2018 what a delight it was . A family run restaurant and nothing was too much trouble Food was lovely , portions were very generous so make sure you are prepared for that. Very helpful when ordering as we had not been to a Hungarian restaurant before so asked for their advice on ordering and were not disappointed and nothing was rushed so totally relaxed evening we tried a half portion of soup between us which was a meal in itself served with lovely ciabatta bread and then followed with both having the Beef Goulash and a couple of sides we did struggle to finish but it was so tasty then ordered the chocolate fudge cake to share for dessert again delicious and very large portion we will definately be back again and recommend to others. Also there is no drinks licence but the owners are happy for you to bring your own alcohol and they do not charge corkage . For 1 starter two mains and a dessert the total cost was £36 so also very reasonably priced .

This is a great little place to eat the beef goulash is amazing and the chestnut purée is to die for...they soon get their liquor license but for now no corkage charge for taking your own booze. Well worth a visit and I shall definitely return..

The food here is really good. 5 of us had beef and wild boar goulash and both dishes were very tasty. Portion size was good but I thought it was just a little pricy. Owners were really nice and I would definitely go back.

The best goulash in the city! This is a hidden gem in Norwich and I will be recommending this place to everyone I know. The staff are extremely friendly and the food is absolutely delicious. Go! You won't regret it.

Such amazing food!

We had the cucumber salad, wild boar goulash and chicken and mushroom paprika sauce - so moreish and delicious!

Staff were so friendly and we even got to speak to the chef about the food, all in all a perfect meal with a great atmosphere.

Hella food. Great tasting and different flavours. If you're looking for authentic food and a change from the typical city places this is it. Cosy friendly atmosphere. I recommend it to everyone.

Amazing food...perfect for a cold day when you want a hearty meal! Highly recommend the traditional beef goulash and the chicken bakonyi, with pickles and cucumber salad as a side. Staff are very welcoming and friendly, I felt like I was eating in someone’s home �

Amazing food, just orderred for the first time and we are more than happy with this place.

Wholesome and homemade food. Nice, friendly atmosphere, in spite of being quite empty for a Saturday lunchtime. Not licensed but, your own wine, beer etc; can be taken in. Definitely need to go on a diet in the New Year.

The food is authentic and very very tasty! A real treat if you like Hungarian food. Staff friendly and very approachable.

The only reason why I gave them 4 stars instead of 5, is that the restaurant could be more cosy and perhaps have more original features. Defiantly missing some pictures on the walls and maybe some folk decorative objects. That would make it a more cosy and desirable place for special celebrations.

Despite that, a place to return to on a regular basis. ��
