Lovely breakfast and the ladies there were nice and when they found out it was my little boys birthday They gave him a little treat.

Had a meal here tonight ( 16th July) for my sons birthday. There were 15 of us,12 adults and 3 children.



Our waitress Melanie was soooo lovely and polite, nothing was too much trouble for her. She was constantly smiling and must have been worn out, walking up and down the stairs ( we were eating upstairs) the food was really nice, the place was clean.

we will definitely be going back there.

Came yesterday on the off chance with my parents they found us a seat even though we hadn't booked service was great friendly staff food was very good

A massive thank you to the chefs and to our lovely waitress for making our Christmas day meal absolutely wonderful today. We all really enjoyed it. Money well spent. Thank you and Merry Christmas to you all.

Went there last night ...for my daughters bday...was showen a table straight away, and the waitress was very freindly and helpful...the food was nice but ...steak was ok , and sweet potatoe fries were over cooked!!!

Really enjoyed it we haven't been in a while as didn't enjoy it last time we went but really happy with the food this time. I had a steak which I asked them to recommend the best bit to me which they were very helpful to do. Hubby enjoyed his and the kids meals are great value for money. Definitely be going again very soon x

Lovely meal good service and good value for money.The restaurant is very tired looking.The restaurant and toilets are in need of a refurbishment.

Was quite shocked how run down it was needed painting up ,floor had tape on it in places one of the sinks had yellow and black taped right across it . Not ad nice ad the carpets one .

Normally a very average place to eat but my last meal here was very good. The place could seriously do with a makeover though.

My husband & I stopped here for a late lunch after a long journey back from the Midlands. It was Easter Bank Holiday Monday, so very busy & we hadn't booked, but we were shown straight to a table. The salad bar was full & very fresh, but our chips looked as if they'd been lying around for a while & were cold. Our waitress was friendly, polite, efficient and the service was good. The toilets were not the cleanest I've seen & definitely need refurbishing, as does the whole restaurant, which is looking very tired & in need of some paint & TLC.

Hi.. I popped in for breakfast Saturday morning .. I'm a regular user of harvester at tollgate Colchester which always cooks an excellent breakfast ..

but was surprised by the difference in standards ..

The food I received was far from freshly cooked . Dried out black pudding. tomato with crusty tops .mushrooms sriveled up .and bacon cooked on dirty racks because it tasted of stake ..

Also the coffee and toast area was very grubby and no one cleaned this in all the time I was there .

Also I found toilet facilities less than pleasent.

And to top of the visit we were challenged when leaving about not paying the bill even though we held a valid receipt. And needed to go and find the lady we paid cash to who then sorted ..

I believe the managing team from this restruant need to visit Colchester harvester to get a lesson on how to do it right ..

You won't see me in this restruant again ..

since when has Harvester not been allowed to take bookings for family birthday meals ???? Tried booking a table for my daughters birthday to be told sorry can only seat upto 16 people now we needed it for 22 people � oh well it’s there loss of money ! ..

last night i had a table booked for my 24th birthday and i feel liked my birthday meal was a let down because the waitress was very rude and not very welcoming. i feel like our food was rushed out as they brought are starter and main meal out at the same time. we all said we could not enjoy are food properly. we got rushed to eat our dinner as they had another big group coming. i would like to point out that i have had book my birthday meal back in August and there was a same size table behind my table that they could been seated at. I and the group is very disappointed as we did spend a lot of money on this night, but it could not been enjoyed and i will be thinking of booking a table somewhere else next time and will not be recommending this to anyone i know as i use to like this one quite alot.

On arrival saw dried blood droplets outside the main entrance door, was met by a member of staff who was very nice, waitress was very nice, but that is where the niceness stops, food was poor, chicken was dry, ribs fatty and too wet, chips were cold, the sweet corn was watery and tasteless, did tell a member of staff about the blood but nothing was done, will not be returning, must stress the two female members of staff that served us were both very nice and helpful

Never before have I been treated so poorly by staff at a restaurant. Food was terrible and what was meant to be a ribeye steak was a small lump of gristle. The burger tasted like it was frozen! I can get far better food for half the price at the local pub.



When we spoke to the manager, she was very rude and criticised us of “just wanting to get free food”. They took no money off our bill and didn’t offer us anything. I cannot believe how rude they were! Will never go there again. Definitely would NOT recommend it.

Harvester epping if you wanna enjoy a night without staff asking every 2 sec are you ready to order when your still eating starters dnt go there I let rip on them making me feel I was there 2 long and they wanted the table so left after complaining 2 a manager that clearly wasn't I was leaving and saying you all need training in customer service as you don't have a clue what it means that's what I think of it not happy and was still charged for my drink what a joke

Food was very nice but there were flies every-where not only our lunch was spoilt but several other peoples too. not good enough. Will not be eating there again!!

Food was soaked in cooking oil! Everything fried within an inch of its life!Food was of a very poor standard. Furnishings & fittings tired & dirty. It was Valentines & the place was quiet & I am not surprised!! Would never go back!

DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU'RE VEGETARIAN!

The chefs have no clue about what you can, and cannot eat. I ordered a vegetarian dish that was supposed to come with gravy, and it came up with chicken gravy!

I also ordered a vegetarian starter, and thankfully, my wife took a bite first, as they were not what I had ordered. We're not even sure what they were.

Waitress was lovely, manager was apologetic, but the chefs had no clue.

On top of this, a waiter handed my two year old nephew a steak knife which had a hot handle. He shouldn't even be given a hold a steak knife, let alone one that could burn his hand as well as cut him!!
