I don't usually post instructions for yoga poses on here, but this is just perfect... The picture tells you everything you need to know about doing Adho Mukha Svanasana (down face dog) but just in case you want more, Sophie Whiting of Vanda Scaravelli - A tribute has provided a helpful list of what not to do while you're there!

Advice from an expert... at 112 years old Grace is the oldest person in the UK. Much more importantly, she is clearly still enjoying life! Her advice for a long and happy life? "Don't worry!"
We all know that worrying changes nothing, and yet most of us still do it on a regular basis! If your own worrying is causing you anxiety or distress, call or PM me now to arrange a free, confidential chat about how yoga and/or hypnotherapy can help you learn to relax and teach your brai...n to manage the inevitable concerns that life throws up in a more constructive manner.

It's that time of year when each warm, sunny day feels like a gift, reminding us that it might be the last one (at least for now). As the evenings start to draw in, what are YOU doing to nurture yourself ahead of the cooler months? Slowing down, taking a few deep breaths and reconnecting with your body is a great place to start. Even better if you can do all this well away from phones, email and the demands of family and/or colleagues! After all, unless you're looking after yourself properly, how are you going to have the energy to support those around you?
There are still a few places left in my friendly, gentle Yoga for Every Body classes on Mondays and Tuesdays. PM or call me to find out more - we'd love to see you there!

This isn't a recent article but it's a great overview of the very real health benefits of yoga. Adapting postures to help people with limited mobility (and other more specific health conditions) access the healing power of yoga was a major part of the 3-year, 500-hour teacher training that I've just completed with the Inner Yoga Trust.
My Yoga for Every Body classes offer an apparently gentle, but powerful practice that is suitable for almost everyone. For those with more sp...ecific needs arising from acute, chronic or age-related health conditions, I'm also part of the 3-person teaching team at Yoga for Health.
There are still a few spaces available on all these classes. Call (01730 750272) or PM me to find out more or book your place!

If you suffer from chronic pain and can get to Tunbridge Wells next Friday (14th Sept), I urge you to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to see how hypnotherapy may be able to help you - whilst supporting a fantastic cause.
I trained with Kelly from Changing Patterns who is hosting this and can vouch for her work!😍

If you like the sound of my yoga classes but can’t get to them, my friend Sonja Balmer who trained with me is starting a Saturday class this month!

This time last year the pond in my (tiny) garden was brand new. Today my first water lily flower appeared! It may not be a lotus blossom, but the lesson is the same...
"You cannot grow lotus flowers on marble. You have to grow them on the mud. Without mud you cannot have lotus flowers. Without suffering, you have no way to learn how to be understanding and compassionate." Thich Naht Hahn
If I hadn't become ill six years ago and had my entire life turned upside down as a resul...t, I wouldn't have found my way to doing the work I love. What has the 'mud' allowed to blossom in your life?

It’s taken me a LONG time but I’m finally learning to be ... myself.
What about you? Do you dare to be you? Are you (like me) still working out exactly who YOU are? What helped you learn to let go of the need to be who/how you thought you were “meant” to be?
Share your experiences in the comments and maybe you’ll help someone else to find their way out of the maze!💚

As some of you know I'm going to India in October on a yoga trip with my teacher Jenny Beeken. There are still a few places left to join me on this once-in-a-lifetime experience, either for the whole 17 days or just the first part at Neeleshwar Hermitage, where there will also be an opportunity to learn about yoga philosophy from leading Sanskrit scholar Alistair Shearer (http://alistairshearer.co.uk/).
If you'd like to find out more, follow the link below and/or contact Meon Valley Travel who are organising the trip.

Having moved to a new town a couple of years ago I’m really enjoying making new friends, but it’s not always easy to know where to start. This lovely video reminds us that “hello” is a good place!
How and when did you last make a new friend, whether that friendship lasted minutes or years?

User

When was the last time you did something just for the sheer fun of it?!

Time to stop for a moment?

The yoga I practice and teach is "Scaravelli-inspired". Thank you to Sophie Whiting of Vanda Scaravelli - A tribute for this great explanation of how Vanda Scaravelli discovered the unique approach that characterises this style of yoga.
Vanda's description of working alone, "without aim and without competition" also ties in with what is perhaps her best-known quote: "Do not kill the instinct of the body for the glory of the pose."
Weekly classes start again on 10 September. 1:1 sessions available by arrangement during August. Call or PM me for more information.

Having trained in hypnotherapy with Helen I was already familiar with her excellent work, and now speaking as a client I am thrilled to get to give her a review - I cannot recommend her highly enough. For a sensitive, caring, intuitive, gentle, positive and effective therapist, look no further.
