Defo that time.......

We came here for my birthday lunch as we wanted a nice place to celebrate and this is just such a nice place, we had the roast chicken for two to share and it's perfect, honestly this has to be one the best places to eat, the food is amazing the staff are all friendly and very helpful, this is a must for everyone can't wait to visit again.

So today St Valentine's day.. We decided to go for a nice lunch, and nice it was!

Very relaxed and calm atmosphere, for us both and our daughter who has complex needs, she super enjoyed all the pretty fairy lights and music. Brilliant staff and the food was soooo good... Looking forward to the next lunch/dinner �

So glad my work colleague and I tried The Hermit of Redcoats last year for lunch. I've lost count how many times I've been back since. The food speaks for itself and the service and attention to detail is impeccable. They will go out of their way to meet your culinary needs and are receptive to suggestions. If you can afford to spend around £6 - £8 for lunch once in a while, get yourself here - twice the price of a meal deal but ten times the quality of what you get to put in your body instead. The decor and individuality only lends to its charm. A friend described it recently as the best pub he's been to since arriving in the UK almost 2 years ago. Well done guys, credit where credit's due.

Phil was kind enough to let us use the corner of the Hermit for our company photoshoot today. The team were more than accommodating who kept us topped up with our drinks until we finished the shoot and ordered lunch. Having visited a couple of times previously I already knew the food was going to be tip top. It didn't let us down and everyone was very happy. We'll be back again soon! Cheers guys

My wonderful husband organised a surprise birthday lunch with all my family and friends on 14/01/2017. The staff were fantastic and we're ready for every demand we threw at them! We had a very tasty lunch and sampled some very nice gin! Thank you for a wonderful afternoon

My family & I visited the hermit of red coats today for my brothers 25th birthday. There was 7 of us and I must say how amazing it was! We all had a roast, and it was absolutely lovely. Not only was the food exceptional but so was the service! We will certainly be returning again and I will be recommending to friends and family. Thanks hermit of red coats for a lovely afternoon.

If you are looking for somewhere special then this is it. The food here is first class, such attention to detail, always trying something different with their menu & it all tastes amazing. Lovely friendly pub with perfect decor & atmosphere. Love it ❤️

I used to work at The Hermit as a bar maid 25 years ago, so on a rare trip to Stevenage I popped in with a friend for a drink a few months ago to see if it had changed much.

It had changed...all for the better. My friend Robin and I vowed to come back for lunch on my next visit to Stevenage, which we did on Wednesday.

The food was fabulous. I had the steak and my friend had the fish and chips. I had a little nosey at what everyone else was eating at different tables and it all looked gorgeous. I want to go back soon and try something different.

For pudding I had the choc brownie. It was so good, beautifully presented and just enough to fill me up.

The staff are very friendly and chatty and the pub/restaurant is tastefully decorated.

Even though I no longer live in the area, I will be visiting again soon with my husband to sample more delights from the menu.

Had an amazing meal, best food we have had in a long time. And the service was excellent too. Can't wait to return and try some more!

Excellent food - delicious! The pub is so cosy and the staff couldn't have been more attentive, very friendly and efficient. Our first visit and it won't be our last.

Enjoyed a wonderful lunch here with my husband. The service was faultless, the perfect balance of attentiveness and discretion. The menu is balanced perfectly and the food delicious and very well thought out. The gin menu is a nice touch and the waiting staff's knowledge of both the menu and matching wines is highly commendable. Can't rate this restaurant highly enough!

Delicious dinner with imaginative, and extremely well presented , plates of food. Portions appear to be small at first but really left us full. Ambiance is lovely with candles and fairy lights and makes for a great venue for a romantic date or a family get together ♡

Brilliant pub. Silly me left my handbag in the garden, nice customer sent it to pub and amazing staff kept it for my collection. Super food! Totally Masterchef experience, fancy menu and nice food.

An absolutely superb Sunday roast which honestly couldn’t be faulted. We had a large table of 11, all of us had different meals from roast chicken to lamb and beef. I have to admit even after having the roast chicken I wish I had ordered the roast pork . Not that anything was wrong with mine it was delicious, however the pork chop look beautifully cooked and a size that would feel the hungriest of people.

Vegetables were boarding perfect . I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a roast dinner to salivate over. See you guys again soon.

A lovely pub to have Sunday lunch. The food was great and if you like gin they have a huge selection. We really loved this pub...

Slow service.... we were 9 for.lunch on a Sunday. They made up a table for us but not sure they had our booking. Roast ok, chicken dry fab Yorkshire puddings. But service soooo slow. We had a 1.15 booking and left at 4.30pm!!

It's a nice pub but honestly they need to lower the prices and maybe simplify the food. Very expensive for what it is given the small portions. Probably the most expensive restaurant in the area. The John O'Gaunt in Sutton which is in the Michelin guide is miles ahead and is really great value.
