An elderly lady, sat very alone
Nobody visits and nobody phones
Besotted with her husband, they were a right pair
Now, sadly he’s passed on and she’s left sat in despair
To make matters worse, her eye condition has declined
Almost unable to see now, why has life been so unkind?
The television, the newspaper or a simple trip up to the shop
Paying bills, checking dates on food, its’ now all come to a stop.

A magnifier, new lighting and a regular volunteer
A weekly visit to provide support, friendship and cheer
This lady is no longer sat all on her own
She is more organised, joined clubs and her confidence has grown
