Natural Area for Recently Rescued Deer Completed... We would like to thank everyone who donated to help provide fencing for a herd of tame Red Scottish deer who were about to find themselves homeless just before last Christmas. The gentleman who had been caring for them on his smallholding for several years had to part with them when the Forestry Commission wouldn't renew the lease. Unable to find anywhere else to go, he became desperately worried about the future of the o...nce wild deer who had now become his beloved pets. As the herd were already used to wintering indoors during the colder Scottish weather, they spent the winter in a barn on our new farm which provided a perfect home for them until the spring. With the help of our kind supporters, the deer are now enjoying life out in their newly-fenced meadow where they can safely graze and take natural cover for many years to come with some of the other rescued deer at Hillside.

Sheep Shearing at Hillside... Please share...
The pictures show our flocks of rescued sheep in the company of the shearer who has been removing their thick woolly fleeces to make them feel comfortable in this warm weather. While the shearer is busy with his clippers, our staff are also hard at work trimming their hooves, which needs to be done on a regular basis. Having all been shorn and hoof trimmed, they were pleased to go back out in the fields to continue eating the gras...s and stay cool while enjoying the summer sunshine. Thank you to everybody who supports the feed and general care of our rescued animals.
