We delayed in posting this out of respect for the three lives lost at sea in France.

We have had a lot of people ask today what time will they be flying over Southend, they should reach us about 3:30/4pm
The team have regular training nights to keep their skills to a high standard, last nights was polishing some of our first aid skills.
The Mulberry Harbour Phoenix Caisson is at its 75th year on the seabed in Thorpe Bay.

Southend Coastguard team had a great day at the Be Safe Roadshow today, it was full of fun and it was great to answer the questions the little ones had, plus they had the opportunity to try on some of our kit (and not to forget the parents did too!)
Sunday 25th May.
Yesterday the sun was shining and many took to the water to enjoy the weather, the team were tasked to a sail boat high and dry in the middleway between Foulness Island and Potton Island.
After getting eyes on they spoke to the owner via vhf radio to ascertain the welfare of the crew. We were pleased to say all on board were fit and well with food and water .They were prepared to wait for the next tide to refloat and set sail again.
The team were tasked on Friday evening to a report of an object floating out with the tide heading towards the pier.
The team arrived and got eyes on the object which was a small brown dinghy, as it made its way around the pier head we requested the RLNI to retrieve the dinghy which they brought back to shore to prevent any danger to other vessels.

On Monday the team were tasked to the Shoebury Garrison for suspected ordnance. The Royal Logistics Corps attended and after investigations it was deemed safe and no further action was required.
It’s not just the Thames Estuary that has ordnance in abundance. ......
