Welcome to the Hoops!
If you are looking for a traditional British village pub at the heart of its community, you have definitely come to the right place. Set in beauitiful rural Cambridgeshire, we pride ourselves in offering everything a great British pub should; a warm welcome, delicious food, real ales, a beer garden or an open fire (depending on the good old British weather), a classy wine selection and live sports on our large screen TV’s in the bar! We even have a great claim to fame – as featured in the 1969 film classic ‘The Battle of Britain’!
Good Food
We specialise in traditional British food choose from classic British pub favourites or a selection of daily specials, all prepared to order. Food is served from 12- 10pm every day and our Sunday roast is legendary, and extremely popular and also availble to take away!
Great Ale
We have a great selection of real ales on tap for you to try, alongside cask & bottled lagers, ciders and a full range of spirits (including plenty of gin! ). Heart of the community
Our vibrant pub is very much at the heart of the village community of Bassingbourn, we hold regular village events throughout the year and our annual steam rally is not to be missed! We are the home of Bassingbourn Cricket and Football Clubs and also have our own friendly pub darts, cribbage and petanque teams. We can cater for special occasions and can host your birthday, christening, smaller wedding party and can offer a marquee if required. We can also come to you and provide outside catering with a mobile bar.

Would just like to clarify something, the doves that reside on the flat roof at the back of The Hoops, will have an open pen, to hopefully come and go as they please. But if you would like to do your research first before walking into the bar really rather aggressively, you will know that young doves/pigeon or in the technological term,,, Columbiformes!!! Need to know their home, so after a few months, or when they have nested they would return every evening!! The pen that th...ey are in, still allows them to stretch their wings, move around and get away from each other!! ( not to mention the price of the dove Cote), But for you people out there that don’t really know me, the welfare, up keep, knowledge, prepared research and love I have for my birds and many other animals, is at (if I say so myself) a VERY HIGH STANDARD!! And I think i can say if you was to ask any person that knows me that the statement is to be true!!! I do apologize if this upsets anyone, but I’m more than willing to have a face to face conversation with anyone that doesn’t agree with my opinion!! Which I understand is ONLY my opinion.
