This is a write up from a training session that Stephen Batchelor delivered for England Para-Swimming last weekend.
It was a really productive weekend spent working with young athlete's (potential future medalists) with a range of disabilities to help them improve their swimming performance.

‚ě°ÔłŹ What most people do when they have shoulder pain.
A couple of days ago the team at Ipswich Physiotherapy (Stephen Batchelor, Matthew Cobbold, Kyle Tanner) went to a talk by one of the regions top orthopaedic surgeons Mr Chris Roberts.
One of the things Mr Roberts covered is something that we find consistently in clinic - you get better results if you get treatment early. This is particularly true when it comes to certain types of shoulder pain.
... What most people do when they have shoulder pain is delay getting treatment. Now this may be due to wanting to see if it will improve on its own, or simply not being able to get an NHS physio appointment for a few weeks.
But, the earlier you get treatment, the easier it is to help the shoulder! Getting an appointment within the first week of developing pain can make a huge difference.
If the only thing you get out of seeking early treatment is an understanding of what is happening, knowledge of what you should and shouldn't do and a plan to help you help yourself, then it will be worth your time and effort.
EARLY TREATMENT ‚ě°ÔłŹ‚ě°ÔłŹ‚ě°ÔłŹ BETTER RESULTS!

Discs can be a source of both back and neck pain, but not as often as we think!‚†Ä ‚†Ä Studies show that discs naturally change with time, they degenerate and the bulge.......in people without pain!‚†Ä ‚†Ä So when people do have pain, and they have a scan which shows they have changes to a disc, we don't know for a fact that those disc changes are responsible for their pain (although this is often the conclusion that we jump to). The changes to the disc may be normal for that person ...and completely unrelated to their pain - we call this an incidental finding.‚†Ä ‚†Ä If you do have back or neck pain and and are worried about your discs, we can help clarify things! https://www.ipswich-physiotherapy.co.uk‚† Ä ‚†Ä #IpswichPhysiotherapy‚†Ä ‚†Ä #Ipswich #Suffolk #Backpain #Spine #Discs #Sciatica #CrossFit #Exercise #Exercisemotivation #Workout #Gains #Squats #Weights #Deadlifts #GymLife #GirlsWhoLift #StrengthTraining #Bodybuilding #Pilates #Fitfam #Yoga
