I wrote a blog post similar to this a few months back. This one goes into great detail with visual comparisons. If a picture is worth a 1000 words. How many is a video worth? http://www.perspectives.co.nz/…/what-yo ur-photographer-nev…/

'Shooting wedding videos was something I fell in love with by accident. My dad had been working as a wedding dj (and still does) for a few years and had always suggested I got into it but I shrugged it off. He soon booked my first wedding video at a reduced price; just to test the waters. I made sure I had prepped as much as I could. I scouted out the church, the place of the ceremony, met with the reverent for camera placement agreements, everything! When the day came I real...ly enjoyed filming it and later editing together. Like every other film medium, it was still story telling with a personal touch. I was very happy with the reaction the video gained from the newly married couple and received calls from their relatives who also loved the video. I soon realised what it was I treasured about wedding videos. When I was at university I worked a weekend a month as a wedding stills photographer and although the approach was similar the results were uniquely different. Wedding photographs are one frame and normally posed. You have to force an uncle to put down his pint to stand still for a photo or get the 2 year old niece off the bouncy castle for thirty seconds. My approach to filming a wedding video is to take a step-back from the day and capture everything naturally as it happens, this captures some beautiful and un-staged moments. The fly on the wall style snap-shots people as they are, unaware of the camera. People are moving and talking and laughing, it’s all real, something that is difficult to capture with just a still or with a “pose”. Couples are always surprised by the video when they watch it as I think they forget I am there on the day! A year after one particular couple had got married the bride had told me she had not yet watched the entire video. She was waiting for a while until the moment was right. I think this is where the videos have the potential to be something special. When certain loved ones have passed on and smaller loved ones have grown up you can see them walking and talking again in a wedding video as they were in that instant. It makes them eternal.' - Josh Trett, JM Pictures http://www.aspecialnorfolkwedding.com/…
