In January 2016 I had a shock, luckily for me this shock wasn't a health scare (which it easily could have been). It was a visual scare, whilst on holiday a friend took a selfie of us, it was in the moment I saw that selfie I realised just how big I was. When we returned i weighed in at 18st 9lbs, never did I think I was so big, with health scares such as type 2 diabetes, chronic heart disease, increased risk of some cancers such as bowel cancer in sight I had to change. I started by simply changing my diet, not following one of these fad diets that promise results, but then the second you stop you double the weight you lost.
Due to previously having dislocated both my knees exercise was scary, so I didn't do it to start with. In the next nine months I quite smoking, I lost 4st and then actually built up the courage to start running! ! ! I signed up to the British Heart Foundations My Marathon, then to Ultra White Collar Boxings charity fight in Ipswich. In the fight I damaged my rotator cuff in my right shoulder, but I didn't let this stop me. I was determined to continue losing weight and improving my health whilst reducing the health risks that where oh so close to becoming a reality. In this time I also suffered mentally with depression, anxiety and much more. The exercise helped me control those mental issues, built my confidence and made sleeping easier. It was in February 2017 that I decided that this is what I want to do, I want to help people like YOU to achieve their goals, to feel better about themselves and to reach their true potential. No matter what your goals are I can help you, and TOGETHER we will take on this journey, together we will reach the highs, conquer the lows and achieve what you thought "impossible". . .
That is why for a limited time only I am offering an introductory rate of £25 an hour, thats £10 saved each hour! ! !

I haven’t posted in a while as I haven’t been doing to well... But thought it was about time I did a post... Today’s workouts where BodyCombat 77 (minus the kick with the right leg - knee raises instead and also without any jumps - will be a while before I’m bouncing about...) this was meant to be followed by a gym sesh but instead I did BodyPump 107, my first one in about 4 1/2 months... I will feel this when I wake up... Then finally this evening I finished the day with RP...M 80 (need to build my RPM strength back up so I can teach and coach with correct technique and tempo) I actually completed the whole thing although I was a little slow on pace in track 5, so that’s something to work on but my heart rate was through the roof for the majority of the class and my speed and resistance strong and controlled 🤘
Rest day tomorrow before a gym sesh on Wednesday to build up my leg strength...

My newest challenge is to learn at least some basic Sign Language so that I am able to convey to not only Deaf/heard of hearing member what a gear should feel like or how they should be positioned on a bike etc but also so I can work with Clients that may also be hard or hearing/deaf...
I want all my members, participants and clients to feel welcome and respected, I feel this is one way of doing that...

First time in 10 weeks I have been able to cross my legs!!!
I couldn’t hold it long but it’s a sign to myself that I’m getting stronger and that my mobility exercises are working along side my strength and rehab exercises 🙌

The odds and the statistics say I won’t be teaching RPM or Sprint until at least next year...
Today I got the new releases through, so now my hard work begins, I will be back teaching sooner than expected because I want to and because if you believe enough you can achieve anything...
I have set myself the goal of teaching the first half of RPM 80 on the 1yr anniversary of certifying as an RPM Instructor...
... I know that I am not strong enough to teach the whole release and to set that target would be insane... But it is far more realistic to aim to teach the first half...
Here’s to the next few weeks of strengthening and pushing myself to the next level!!!

Although I will pay for this over the next week because I simply do not have an off switch, I really enjoyed today’s RPM workshop with this lot and @wash_chishaya!!!
I probably won’t be strong enough to teach this release either but let me tell you, RPM 80 is on fire!!!
I didn’t need to do this QW or the previous one as I had already completed the required 2 touch points, but I choose to attend them either way because I am able to learn and better myself as an instructor, n...ot for myself but for every single person that sets foot in my classes...
RPM was my first programme and every time I get to teach it my love for the programme and the tribe grow just that little bit more... I hope to one day be able to inspire participants and hopefully other instructors as those who have inspired me along my journey, 11months tomorrow since I first certified and it’s been the best 11months of my life!!!

So I’ve been having issue with 2 of feet as the legs that I am using to create the base flanges have been glued and screwed together unlike the other two (although I didn’t know this and tried everything I could think of and managed to reveal the glue...)
The centre needs a bit of sanding and planing before I can spray it...
One foot along with arm is basically done other than the metal base...
... Hopefully I’ll get the second base flange finished tomorrow before heading to the Quarterly Workshop for RPM and Sprint...

I spent my morning in B&Q buying U bolts, Nuts and Bolt Locker (Glue to glue nuts and bolts permanently)...

Today’s outfit of choice as I set foot in the gym unaccompanied...
I probably went a bit harder than I should being 7weeks post op, but I did it and that’s what’s important...
I have noticed a huge change in my fitness levels since having the time out but I still pushed... I power walked 1km up hill on the treadmill, climbed 163steps on the stair mill, cycled 3km and rowed 1km...
... It may not seem like a lot but in retrospect to not even being able to to row 50m or not even managing a full rotation on a bike 2 weeks ago to reach these results today has given me a huge boost...
If you set your mind to it you can do anything!!!

The usual range of motion for the knee is 0-135 degrees, when fully extended the leg should look as though there is a slight bend (as pictured on the right)... Hyperextension, most common in women or those with familial ligamentous laxity (loose ligaments) is pictured to the left... This is where the knee extends beyond 0 degrees creating a back bend (sometimes referred to as banana leg)... hyperextension can cause knee pain and also lead to osteoarthritis in the knee...
Wha...t causes it?? It can be a misalignment of the femur and the tibia, an imbalance in muscle strengths, weak/loose ligaments, a weakness in the hip flexors, limitations in dorsiflexion and much more...
There are exercises you can do to help reverse the extent of hyperextension (look out for examples in future posts!!!)
Today’s post comes because I have always had hyperextension with my knee flexing and extending between -10 to 135, since having the MPFL reconstruction with the lateral release on my right knee I have now got one knee that extends to 5 degrees and the other to -10 degrees creating a 15 degree difference in the extension of the knees... This means I have a limp which could remain permanent due to difference in extension length... Unless I can correct the other leg through exercise...

UPDATE AND ACHIEVEMENT ALERT!!!
So it may not seem a big deal but today was the first time since surgery that I managed to have a proper shower!!! In this heat washing with just a flannel wasn’t really ideal, however I am able to hobble around small areas without the assistance of crutches and managed to swing myself into the bath and then stand have have a full shower!!!
Every single day is a hurdle and every day also brings challenges, I face each challenge and take them ...head on, sometimes I fail and I fall but I get up and try again...
The moral of the story here is that no matter what life throws at you you should take the challenges head on with a YES I CAN attitude, this may result in a “failure” (if that’s what you want to call it) but these “failures” are what make you stronger every time and what help you to succeed, know one every succeeds first time...

Today whilst in the car I heard Ed Sheeran’s Castle on the Hill, those of you who do RPM know that this is a track used in a recent release (more specifically RPM 75 Track 4)
This is the first release I did after certifying as an instructor/coach, two weeks ago I had to stop teaching due to having an MPFL reconstruction meaning I can’t cycle for at least 3 months...
This song is one of my favourite and also one of my classes favourites too, I have found it incredibly hard t...hese two weeks not being able to do what I love... I have a minimum of 10 weeks before I can consider getting back on a bike, and have a long way to go yet before teaching...
Not a day has gone by when I haven’t wondered how my members are getting on, if they are enjoying the newest release...
RPM has become very close to my heart, it has allowed me to find a release, allowed me to make friends and change peoples lives...
