Would you like to gain more harmony between you and your horse? Would you like to understand the inner workings of classical riding? would you like to improve your riding for an exam or competition ? Would you like to boost your confidence? Would you like to feel more effecitve as a rider? -If the answer is 'yes' then biomechanics training is for you!
... Biomechanics is nothing new! In fact in BC350 Xenophon was writing about the importance of the rider's balance. If you read any of the great masters literature they write in detail about the effects of the rider 'The seat is the alpha and the omega of riding' - Egon von Neindorff. (1923 - 2004)
In my coaching- based on 'classical horsemanship' - I aim to give you the tools and correct 'map' to ride in balance, use your core strength correctly and to sit easily and naturally. Sit in a way that helps your horse to move underneath you with ease to become 'poetry in motion'!
I help the rider to understand the mechanical cause-effect relationships that determine the rider/horse motions. Many riders come to me because they can't work out the 'HOW' of riding as continually told 'what to do' rather than 'How to do it!'.
I've trained with International coach Mary Wanless (BHSI and founder of 'Ride With Your Mind') for over 15 years in biomechanics. The solutions to problems are based on increasing the rider's understanding of what 'is', building reliance on clear perceptions instead of on a mental concept of how it 'ought to be'. It's my belief that a horse must work with joy because he expects a reward, and not with anxiety because he is afraid of punishment and pain. 'Dressage is the return of freedom to the horse under rider' -Herman Koopmans (1915-2003)
I am a BHS registered Intermediate Instructor, an accredited biomechanics 'RWYM' coach (RIde WIth Your Mind and 'Master Dressage'- founded by Mary Wanless BHSI) and a BD trainee judge. All standards welcome. Cost: £50 for private 50 mins session with video feedback /£35 share pl. PM me to book a place or contact me on: 01508 521800 or 07961377422 or email: info@katherinewalter.co.uk

Looking forward to going to Burghley Horse Trials on Thursday. I'll be on the BHS stand from 1.30pm with Henry the Mechancial horse. Come and have a go! simulators are brilliant for working on rider balance and position without worrying about the horse. Each rider for only a £3 donation will get a 10 mins biomechanics lesson with me. (pics attached are not Henry but Steady Eddie who can be found at The Playbarn Riding Centre - Henry is very similar)

Very supportive and encouraging. Works to build knowledge and confidence! Highly recommend!!

Katherine puts you at ease immediately, then constructively explains how to improve your seat. My lessons were a gift from my husband and I have decided to continue as I enjoy them so much. Would highly commend Katherine!

User

I started riding with Katherine at Pine lodge to work on improving my seat. Now that I have my own horse one of my goals was to improve my riding not just pulling horse in with reins. I wanted self carriage and a horse to move forward to the bit. Hess really responds and we are riding straighter and transitions are correct with her back up. I find the lessons challenging but the rewards have been such better control in how I ride. Thank you for helping me with my young Luso.

I recently had surgery and was waiting to be given the all clear to start riding again. I decided to make use of this time by sending my mare off to schooling livery while I had lessons with Katherine on the simulator. Absolutely best thing I could have done. Katherine is a brilliant teacher. I certainly felt like I was clocking up the miles on the simulator and all the work paid off. I highly recommend this option to anyone else that finds themselves in my position. First ride on my mare today and it was amazing.

Fab lesson can't wait for the next one
