The Beautiful Black Forest & Chrysanthemum Festival Sunday 21st to Saturday 27th October 2018
The Black Forest is a mountainous region in southwest Germany, bordering France. Known for its dense, evergreen forests and picturesque villages, it is often associated with the Brothers Grimm fairy tales. It’s renowned for its spas and the cuckoo clocks produced in the region since the 1700s. The region’s largest town, Freiburg, is filled with Gothic buildings and surrounded by vine...yards. The National Chrysanthemum Society hosts a spectacular annual show in the picturesque town of Lahr, located on the edge of the Black Forest. The town will be decorated with more than 10,000 chrysanthemums and there will be chrysanthemum arrangements throughout the historic centre. Some of the houses in this historic town will be decorated with them too, an unmissable event! There will also be an opportunity to taste Black Forest Gateaux.

For over 2,000 years, an underground army of life-sized terracotta warriors secretly guarded the tomb of China’s First Emperor, Qin Shi Huang, until a chance discovery in 1974 unlocked the mysteries of a vanished empire. Showcasing objects from one of the world’s greatest archaeological discoveries, this unmissable exhibition spans almost 1,000 years of Chinese history; from the conflicts and chaos of the Warring States period, to the achievements and legacy of the Qin and Han dynasties. The exhibition will include a number of objects that have never been on show in the UK before including material from museums and institutes from across Shaanxi Province, excavated over the last 40 years from the Imperial Mausoleum and selected tombs. These spectacular artefacts will shed light on the Emperor's pursuit of immortality and show how he prepared for the afterlife, as well as help us to understand more about everyday life in China more than two thousand years ago. It’s will be the first time in more than 30 years that Class 1 National Cultural Treasures from the tomb of China’s first Emperor, Qin Shihuangdi, will be brought to a museum in the UK outside of London.

Such a friendly company and when we travel they take great care. The drivers

and couriers are attentive and keep us entertained on route to where we are going. We have used Kirby's for many years now and have found them to be

good for both day/ theater trips and short and longer holidays. Various pick up points and parking at the depot as an alternative. Try them and see for yourself.

Kirby's took our Scout Group to Bavaria for a week's expedition to a 12th Century castle. The coach was comfortable, timely and in general excellent. Roy, the driver was friendly and helpful and took great pride in both the condition of his vehicle and in his safe driving. Couldn't be beaten!

Just got back from a fantastic easter sunday trip to cadburys world, the driver tim, was just lovely, and we had a great day! Thank you x

Had a great holiday on "The Little Trains of North Wales". Many thanks to our Courier Jacci and Driver John who both did a fantastic job.

Fantasitic holiday in Wales, Tim was an excellent driver and went above and beyond, making sure everyone was happy and giving up his day off to take us out as hotel was a bit remote. Highly recommended.

Every time we travel on KirbysCoaches, we have a great time, today it was the Ely trip with Becky, last Sunday was the Tall Ships Race and River Cruise, & previous trips always live up to our expectations. We have quite a few more bookings and look forward to meeting the friendly and caring staff, thanx

Just returned from a weekend break to The National Memorial Arboretum.

The hotel was nice and the Arboretum was very emotional but Becky, our driver, was outstanding. She is pleasant and friendly and an exceptionally good driver.
