What a fantastic sporting achievement by our very own James Hellens (year 9). Congratulations James and the rest of the England Team. The follows summaries the teams remarkable performance: “Dear Mr Clarke I thought I would send you some photos of James during his recent trip to Austria to play for the England u14s national team. He played against teams from Canada, Finland, Slovakia, Austria and Slovenia. The team finished 4th overall, only losing out on a penalty shootout for the bronze medal. Kind regards James' Dad”

In partnership with the Gateshead SSP @gatesheadssp all year 7 pupils participated in the Street Striker Event. This consisted of 6 challenges ranging from striking the ball at a range of targets (Tyres, Bins and traffic lights) to measuring how powerful they can shoot a ball.
On completion of the event scores for each challenge were total and the top three places for both boys and girls awarded medals.
Standard was via high from all contestants throughout the day although the stand-out performance of the day came from Joe Sample with a total score of 387. Congratulations Joe and well done to everyone who took part. Also a massive thanks to our helpers and scorers, you were all brilliant. Well done Mr Wyllie on another great event.

Easter Non-Uniform Day this Wednesday This is the final ‘in-school’ charitable event related to our Academy’s expedition to Borneo in July. Many of us are travelling to Malaysia to undertake a ‘Community Project’, which will comprise of building water towers for isolated communities, planting trees in an area of rainforest where deforestation has occurred and teaching children in local primary schools. All money raised in this event will go towards this project, to provide the materials for them and to improve the lives of the people in this part of the world. More information can be found at www.farfrontiers.co.uk or www.pukkaprojects.org and in the attached letter. Thank you for your support.

Six Hair & Beauty students and two members of Academy staff have just returned from an extremely successful Study trip to Milan. The students were invited to visit ‘Itely’ the Italian production plant that develops and produces the Hair and Beauty products that we use in our salons in the Academy. This is the first time ‘Itely Hair Products’ have invited a group from a school, and due to the exemplary behaviour of our students the Academy has been invited back next year with ...another party of trainees. The six students spent a full day at the plant, being shown around the development labs and the production process in the morning and in the afternoon taking part in a Colour Correction Workshop at the ‘Itely Academy’ working with colour technicians from Dubai. The other two days were equally as busy with visits to the spectacular ‘Il Duomo’ (Milan Cathedral), Sforza Castle, La Scala Theatre and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele 11. We spent our evenings eating at authentic Italian restaurants and admiring the architecture. I would like to congratulate the group, who were a credit to the Hair & Beauty department and also the Academy. I would also like to thank Anne Coulson for accompanying us on the visit. What an incredible morning. Students witnessing their first ever solar eclipse and were clearly excited by the experience. The cloud wasn't great but managed to clear to give us a few great views of the eclipse (have a look at the incredible photograph taken by Mr Reach). The drop in temperature was really noticeable as the suns rays were blocked by the moon. A fantastic experience for everyone.

Today year 7 and 8 students were fortunate enough to be part of a fantastic performance by Jagmac The group’s name comes from their initials: Jared, Angelique, Gabriel, Manjo, Alyssa, and CJ and they are all brothers and sisters from Baltimore, USA. Not only are the guys hugely talented singers and dancers but they are also incredible at choreography, song writing, rapping, piano, guitar, drums, sign language, and martial arts. As part of their performance the group stunned... our students with a martial arts demonstration choreographed into dance. Every member of the group holds a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. They are also world champions in Philippine martial art, Eskrima (stick fighting). Keep your eye out for these guys as we think they will soon be on everywhere if this morning performance was anything to go by. Awesome experience and outstanding vocals and dance and can I also add, what genuinely lovely guys whom it was a pleasure to meet. Best wishes from everyone at LLoB

best school i ever attended (when i attended) lol

User

Went to sing in our choir from Scarborough so no idea what the schools like. But reading these reviews it sounds awful.

User

I was one of the first, 1st year pupils to attend this school when it opened in 1969. In those days it was 1st year through to 5th years, sorry don't understand how the system works now. we had to attend the 3 schools who combined to form the Lord Lawson school because surprise surprise, it wasn't opened on time, building wasn't finished. Still wasn't quite finished when we finally got there. We loved the school and were very proud to be pupils there. Enjoy your school days, I know you've heard it all before but they really are the best days of your life.

User

As a parent of a child , i am pleased to say he now attends here , where he receives outstanding support. I cannot fault the communication level between the staff and myself too.

Children will get out of this school what they are willing to put into it and so much more.

User

this establishment as first class sporting facilities, I was very impressed with the set up

User

With the little time I was at lordies, I did enjoy it and felt welcome at times so thanks for having me

User

Definitely changed from when I attended school back in 1977-82 ha ha.

User

I want to thank you for a dull and miserable 5 years.

I dislike 95% of your staff and 97% of your students, so thanks for teaching me percentages at least.

I'm glad I passed my exams after paying no attention to your teachers and proved to you that you guys really are useless and I never should've listened to you lot.

Please show a picture of me in an assembly, I would like to be remembered for something, make something up, I don't care just anything, please.
