This idyllic Essex coarse fishery was established over 25 years ago, growing from the original members lake, it now boasts 159 swims offering something for everyone. Whether you enjoy carp fishing, pleasure fishing or match fishing, you and your family will find it all here at Mill Barn.

Each lake is available as a day ticket (except the members Lake) and each has its own unique character, and moods, which always keeps the angler guessing what they will catch next. Stocking levels are such that even during the coldest months, you can be sure the rods will always have a nice curve in them.

Carry a lot of gear? No worries as there is car parking adjacent to all lakes which means you only have a few yards to walk to your choice of swim. Memberships are always available with no waiting list, however the complex is never crowded, you can always be sure you can find a swim that suits exactly what you want.

Toilets can be found on both the Reservoir Lake and on the House Lakes.

Regular matches are held throughout the year, and are open to both members and non-members. If you are new to match fishing, and would like to join in but not sure where or how to start, this is the ideal venue. Regular members who fish the matches are always keen to help out, with optional pools money to suit everyone.

THE LAKES:

Lilly Pad Lake - 18 swims

The Lilly Pad lake, or House lake as it used to be known is shallow in parts deepens to 4FT.

The second lake to added to the complex, it is beautiful to fish from June onwards when pads are in bloom.

The lake was extended round the back about 15 years ago, and these pegs have proved a popular haunt for the larger carp that often reside here. The lake is stuffed with quality Rudd & Roach, but also plenty of Skimmers, which will give sport all day long, and will never fail to pull your float under. This is a great small lake to bring younger members who might be just starting out, as you will always catch here due to the massive head of silver fish.

Donut Lake - 8 swims

This is the smallest lake on the complex, but very good fishing for the bigger carp. Depth up to 6ft, with 4ft in the margins.

Sport in the summer & winter can be frantic with match weights of over 100lbs!

Canal Lake - 38 swims

Up to 36FT across. Depth up to 5FT. One bank fishing. Good all round also known for its bigger carp. The far bank can be reached on most pegs by the pole, which makes for an excellent match venue - match weights between 100-175lb are commonplace in the warmer months, with 50-60lb being caught in the colder months.

All baits work well, sweetcorn can be productive for the big head of Skimmers if the carp are proving elusive on the day.

Members' Lake - 23 swims

The original and most established on the complex. Each peg has its own character, and different features, from sunken weed & lilly pad beds, to waggler-reachable small islands. Average depth 4ft in summer, main species being Carp to 18lbs, Rudd, Roach and Tench. Island pegs are favoured in the summer, fishing the gaps across from peg 20, and 9 proving productive.
