About Modernity Mark Trading, Games & Workshops

Welcome to Modernity Mark, a not for profit company offering a traditional festival stall of eclectic treasures smoking corner and medicines cabinet, , as well as Workshop Gratis Games, and is a safe space for everybody to enjoy and share

Modernity Mark Trading, Games & Workshops Description

Modernity Mark is operated and run on a not for profit community principle for the enjoyment of participation, both for me and the visitor, and relies entirely on volunteer helpers (the stall family), The games operate on a workshop principle again, relying on volunteers to supervise, and those enjoying them to leave as they have found. During previous years, both the stall and activities have become a Destination point at Festivals and Events with seating and free games for all. Prices are kept sensible to cover costs and expenses. It is always appreciated when there are negotiable rates for the stall fees and space given for the games in recognition of what we are trying to achieve and extra admission passes for the volunteers are always gratefully received.

General description Stall;
There is a fascinating and eclectic mix of different giftware and practical items stocked, and I try to collect as large a range of eclectic items together to create a different look and effect with the stall frame being decorated with covers and hangings where possible. Representative of a traditional festival offering, which range through Himalayan Salt Lamps and Incense, New Age, Pagan, Gothic themed items. Children’s toys compliment the stall with many unusual items.

The items are incense in many forms and styles and the accessories and kit to burn and enjoy these incenses, which give the space a distinctive aroma. The rest of the stock consists of an eclectic selection Pagan, Gothic, New Age styled giftware and where I can get them, some accessories, complemented by a small range of cotton scarves (or skirts / tablecloths). Also some Smoking and Vaping accessories, which include lighters a small selection of Tobacco and E-Liquids, as well as some pipes and herb grinders. The collective is complemented by small items of Jewellery (both old and new) in baskets as well as many other baskets of eclectic items and novelties with a traditional range of childrens’ toys (Mostly pocket money)
As an addition and due to many requests, we also have a small useful items section which has wet wipes, pegs, guy rope, washing up liquid, gas etc as available, whilst underneath the table we keep tampons, toothbrushes, paste, plasters, a sewing kit, some medication and a few other essentials that can be needed. As I do a variety of events, I carry a selection of sweets (2 for £1;00p) and some canned drinks (Mostly economy brands for children) and bottled water rom 40p each, this is complemented by a limited section of Ringden Farm Fruit Juice and Fentimans . The selected items are chosen so as not to compete with the events facilities /bars I am attending I can always remove a particular item if it does not fit with the event or gig, but have always found that the stall is well liked and popular as it is different and unusual

General description /workshops /games;
The games have developed over the years, from a simple principle of a pool table and giant chess to something more complicated. The Stall now has a games room consisting of a 20ft square Coleman Dome for the pool table and smaller board games like the chess, draughts, snakes and ladders, connect 4 etc. which provides protection from the weather, whether this be sun or rain.
The rest of the games rely on there being no rain, and are usually arranged on blankets scattered on the ground. These consist of Table Football, Dominoes, Jenga and others we have found or been given. This whole area is run as a free activity and play area, with a Magic hat hung up for anyone wishing to make donations. These are used for maintenance or replacement of games and, on occasion, a drink for the volunteers (stall family) who spend their time looking after everybody and clearing up.
I realise that this now takes up a large area at festivals and this can be valuable to the organiser, so am ever grateful of the invites given to attend and the space generously offered in recognition of what we are trying to do. Always looking forward to the next event as each brings something new to the stall, new friends and a meeting a different and diverse range of people

Modernity Mark Melted Glass on Wood is finally here. Probably the biggest thing out of Bali in years, in Holland already a massive trend. Everything house plant related and natural is a major trend, and this beautiful and natural product is right on the button. They are crafted by hand in Bali from recycled glass and Balinese Gamal wood. This stunning, molten art glass vase brings the best of two worlds together: natural and man-made; earthy and chic; practical and spiritual.... The glass is hand-blown and while still hot it is then relaxed over a piece of Gamal root, the glass then hardens to the shape of the wood ensuring a perfect fit. They are crafted using a natural product by using hand tools in the traditional Balinese way. It provides a one-of-a-kind setting for stones and air plants, cut flowers, a fish tank or a wine decanter.
Each item is unique as they are made from natural sustainable Gamal wood and the recycled glass is shaped to suit which add to its authenticity, your customer will love it. They can be used for house plants, zen gardens, fish bowls or floating candles. Please note: That due to the handmade nature of this product, there can be small imperfections in the glass such as small bubbles and light scratches. Mostly individually securely boxed. New small human dome looking good

User

After a day of chaos (literally) where we have had to resign the stall after setup, lost our kitchen and store room followed by the baby human dome then had to move and 're pack basket display. So converted the big dome to storage and kitchen as only space available and. Stall looks sad, very tempted to cut weekend short as become to much stress.

We run the Roots Gathering here in Kent and this year had Mark and his team along to our micro festival. They are a lively, fun bunch and nothing is to much trouble for them to jump in and help out. Feedback from our visitors has been five star for not only the stock of their shop and its non profit status but also for providing a "youth club" type space for the often forgotten teenagers.

We highly recommend getting these guys along if you run an event... ...

cheers from the Roots team and see you in 2018

This place had everything and Mark was enthusiastic about all the wares he sold and what he believed in. I couldn't have done without him at Roots Gathering festival. A very easy 5 stars. Keep up the good work!

User

Mark has created a fantastic atmosphere and with the "Games Room" somewhere to be in all weathers, got to be seen to be believed as the collection is so eclectic and diverse with the games and activates being the icing on the proverbial cake.

I’ve known this lot for a few years now and have seen them in action at many festivals. Always a welcoming and friendly place to be, the staff and volunteers make sure everyone is looked after. Unbelievably well stocked shop too. How they fit it all in one trailer I’ll never know, must be some sort of origami.

User

Always nice to people and have a wide variety of stock. Occasionally will have a pool table out.
