The land for our Vastu is rare. According to our ecologist: “This ancient woodland is the largest remaining fragment of a once extensive wood pasture, heathland and woodland complex that previously extended several hundred hectares. The extraordinary woods are of particular ecological interest as they support a diverse assemblage of flora and fauna alongside a striking collection of veteran trees. Captain's Wood, as with all sites of ancient woodland, is truly irreplaceable. The unique soil, environment, wildlife and cultural history ensures it is something special that must be protected, maintained, treasured, and enjoyed.”

You get a sense of Suffolk building styles from these photographs. Our Vastu will feature many of the components employed in these local buildings - brick, light rendering, red clay pantiles, oak beams, long windows and wood cladding. It will also conform 100% with the principles of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda.

From two more visiting Raj Rajeshwaris:
“The first time I visited this land I felt completely at home with a desire to spend a long time there… It is rare to see such a protected piece of land that has been undisturbed and is full of vitality and natural beauty. Such a serene environment with beautiful views in every direction. I can’t wait to get back there.”
“This place is a haven of peace and naturalness, secluded but not remote. Standing at its heart and looking around, one feels it is a very special place, with a unique and timeless quality. It calls to one to spend time there, to love it and make it a home for inner life to expand and thrive.”

Our Vastu's elevations are taking shape. For the roof we are using traditional red Suffolk pantiles. These are curved tiles with a vertical ridge to one side; the curving gives a horizontal wave appearance - so the building will have quite a textured roof. The walls are brick, a softer red with “hues” - not flat colour. There will be some wood cladding on the east elevation. The combination of these three - pantiles, reddish brick and wood cladding - are traditional in this part of Suffolk. Vedic ornamentation has yet to be added - e.g Kalash on the main roof, Stupik on the gables.

From a Raj Rajeshwari who visited this summer:
"The land is so holy and full of silence and bliss at the same time. I feel all the creatures there are so happy and would love to have Mother Divine living there. It is so peaceful and divine there.
"Wishing you all success and full support of nature in creating palatial Vastu and heavenly Home for Mother Divine in this piece of holy land!"

Built in traditional Suffolk style, our Vastu will be wrapped in silence, reached only via a pathway through the wood. It'll be two and a half stories high with a tiled roof and courtyard design like a traditional monastic building. The central courtyard will be 16 meters across excluding the cloister walkway. The 2196 square meter building will have rooms for 32 Mother Divine, programme room and Vedic library. There'll be a separate dining room / kitchen through the trees to the north east.

Our site is really beautiful—15-acres with a marvellous view to the east across pastures, marshes and the River Alde, with the North Sea in the distance. The land itself with its ancient oak forest is well protected - officially designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The peaceful atmosphere is an ideal environment for deep programmes. It fulfils Maharishi’s desire that the inner beauty we experience with eyes closed is equalled when eyes are open!

Dr Bevan Morris at the celebrations in Holland last week: “One resolution of this Guru Purnimah is to make sure all Mother Divine everywhere in the world - the expanding numbers of Mother Divine - are in perfect Vastu and in great comfort. Please give all support for their efforts.”

By measuring the girth of an oak you can assess its age, and Captains Wood contains some venerable specimens. There are a good number with girths of 6+ metres, which gives them an age of around 500 years. Just in the half hour we had free for this, we found one magnificent oak with a girth of 8.25 metres and one grandfather king of the woodland with a girth of over 9 metres. Our arboriculturist says that elsewhere such a girth would mean 850 years old; but on this sandy soil each year’s growth is so little that it might place the oak's age at 1000+ years! These trees make this ancient woodland a precious asset - a 2017 survey by Kew Gardens found there are only 112 oaks in England with a circumference of 9 meters or more.

Heartfelt thanks to the person who, on hearing about this Vastu project, wrote: "Boundless, total, adoration, admiration, and gratitude to all of the life-devotees on the Mother Divine program. You received Maharishi's beautiful vision, then made it your own vision, then were inspired to devote yourselves 200% to realising that vision. Not realising it for yourselves as individuals, but for the whole world. This is beyond huge. So very few people on Earth have taken even the first step in this process. The fact that every single Mother Divine lady has walked this path from beginning to end, means that there is hope for all of mankind to awaken to Vedic reality."

Wishing you 🌸Happy Guru Purnima🌸 today!
"Guru Purnima is the day of infinite correlation. It is a day of supreme knowledge; it is a Brahman day; it is the day of the Guru; Guru Purnima, the fullness of Guru Dev, the fullness of the element of Guru, the fullness of pure knowledge. Guru is the expression of Enlightenment, pure knowledge, the field of all possibilities, the field of infinite correlation. In this supreme awakening, in this supreme consciousness, in the state of supreme knowledge we have the totality of life, the absolute value of Being, pure infinity, pure eternity, pure immortality.“ --Maharishi

Did we mention...? Captain's Wood has one of the one of the greatest expanses of bluebells in the county...

Overlaid on the outline of current structures, this shows the positioning of our Vastu within Captain’s Wood. Correctly aligned according to Sthapatya Veda, with trees all around, our Vastu home will be two and a half stories high with a courtyard design, 32 Mother Divine suites, programme hall, lecture room and Vedic library. Nearer to the wood’s entrance, the smaller building above and to the right is the dining block. For maximum peace and silence no vehicles will come close to the Vastu - these will park by the entrance, beyond the dining area.

Main boundaries are shown in red. The land for our Sanctuary of Silence is approached from the east by a half-mile drive and includes both ancient woodland and five acres of meadow. Neighbouring to the south west are the 153 conservation acres of Suffolk Wildlife Trust. Please help Mother Divine buy this precious site! To donate see: https://www.motherdivinefund.co.uk

Embraced by Nature… In a region designated 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty', our site is surrounded on one side by fields and on the other by Captain’s Wood, a 153 acre Suffolk Wildlife Trust nature reserve. “Captain’s Wood has an open airy feel with space between the trees where fallow deer roam through one of the greatest expanses of bluebells in the county.”

”We have been impossible right from the beginning and we must continue to be impossible, because we are raising a voice against suffering which has been considered to be the nature of life. It is our joy to be considered impossible - and it is our greater joy to make the impossible a living reality." - Maharishi
As fundraising gathers momentum for our Vastu project, we’d be so grateful for your support with a donation… please see: https://www.motherdivinefund.co.uk

1/ Architect’s sketch of our planned Chaturshala Vastu in Suffolk. Deep in the woods and designed in accord with the principles of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda, it will have rooms for 32 Mother Divine. The central walkway surrounds the courtyard’s internal garden – the heart, or Vastu Brahmasthan of the building. Please share this via Facebook!

2/ Already £444,300 has been donated or pledged. Now we need to raise the remainder of £1.75m to buy the land. Please support us! To donate see the last section here: https://www.motherdivinefund.co.uk

“The last three times I've been there it has been so incredibly beautiful with all the trees in their brightest green finery, with bluebells covering the forest floor, and the deer in large numbers… On one occasion we went in the evening at sunset and again it was so beautiful. The silence is so loud there!”
