Went here last night after booking tickets for Jigsaw for 18.20. Due to traffic on the A12 we arrived over half hour late. Was expecting to have to pay again (2x£3=£6 so hardly bank breaking). On showing my booking number, was offered tickets for the next showing free of charge, which I gratefully accepted. We had our food before the film instead of after the film. The staff had all dressed up for Halloween and to be honest, I was impressed. And a big thank you

User

We have been here a few times over the years, and find it is a very affordable place and the seats are quite comfortable and the toilets very clean. It is good value for money. We also find the staff very pleasant. We as a family would highly reccommend this place to go & watch a film.

User

The price of the food/drink/tickets is just great. I personally feel more at home here and comfortable than I do at the overpriced Odeon. The only downfall for me is screen 4 as it's like sitting in your Nans lounge because of the seats and how high the screen is but now it's getting refurbished. I hope this carries on doing well as it deserves it over the cinema chains....

User

Saw Mumma Mia 2 on a very hot morning. We were in screen 3 . No air con but it was pleasantly cool. Great value for money all round. Refreshments reasonable priced too. Staff friendly 😄

User

Brilliant cinema! Free parking, great value priced tickets, food/drink available, Star Wars theme foyer and comfy seats with plenty of leg room. Will definitely be coming back to and not waste money on the same films at the overrated bigger cinemas. Well done Movie Starr Cinema, we loved it!

User

Where else can you get a ticket, a medium drink and a large bag of Revels for under a Tenner?

Although the cinema is starting to look very tired and worn out inside each of the theatres.

Maybe they need to put their seat prices up to refresh the seating and carpets.

We went to see the greatest showman on 13th January, incredible film by the way. We always use movie starr as it works out so cheap for us a family and means we get to go more often which our children really appreciate. The only problem I would say about this particular visit was the ladies toilets were a complete mess and smelt horrendous. One toilet was blocked all the way to the top and the flush was completely broken, 2 others had no toilet roll, so there was only one working toilet. The cinema was packed and there was only one person on tickets and one person serving behind the sweets till. Neither were interested in the faults of the toilet, presumably because they were both so busy doing every other job possible - poor things! Other than that, great experience as usual! X

User

We went to see Darkest hour on Friday. We loved the movie. Like most of the other reviews for the weekend the ladies toilet needed a clean and there wasn't enough staff serving refreshments and tickets. We love Movie Star its affordable and has memories for us as a family. Please take note of the reviews and try to follow them up. Thank you.

User

Very good value but as you have put the prices up can you also refresh the place like new seats would be lovely

User

Love this place, it’s the inky ine we go to. Staff are friendly and helpful. Seat are a little worn but then so is Basildon!!! Must visit at least twice a month x x

User

Cheap and cheerful. Budget friendly. A bit chilly inside but you get what you pay for. Kept the kids busy for a couple of hours. More impressed that if you are a cinema customer that you can now park for free.

User

Went to see 50 Shades with 6 friends. Great value for money but the toilets really need sorting out! They smell really bad and none of the toilets had toilet roll, just a clean with a bit of bleach would help!

User

Like the saying goes, you get what you pay for: cheap & cheerful cinema experience. Sits are cramped for anyone over 5'9 I'm 6'1. But it's ok you get free parking & a movie. Still better than paying 15 at Odeon

User

I’m a massive fan of local cinemas at realistic prices and this is just that. I’ve visited here many times and will continue to do so. Free parking (if you can find a space) which is a bonus BUT there’s one big drawback - the seats are SO dirty they are actually black and sticky in many places where so much has been spilt on them. The place is in desperate need of a professional deep clean.

Come on management, how about it!

User

It's cheap so yes it is a bit tired and the floors ate sticky and the seats are so uncomfortable but good value for money the only problem I found was the film was advertised to start at 820pm and you sit there with no music or adverts for nearly 40 mins and 2 people complaining before they put the film on other than that what do you expect for £3.00

User

We have been a few times to Movie Starr. We love the fact we can save loads as a family by visiting here, with the ticket, food and drink prices being low. Unfortunately we find its hit and miss in regards to cleanliness. Especially with the toilet facilities. Our last trip was on the 18th February this year, in the evening. Upon walking from the ticket point/snack bar to the screen, the toilets smelt awful. Using the toilets was horrible, only one cubical was useable due to toilet rolls not being refilled, and that one cubical's floor was wet. No soap in the dispensers to wash hands, and the hand dryer did not work. The overall cleanliness and decor of the toilets is poor and seems to get worse each time we visit. The screen floor under the seats, where we sat to watch the film had not been cleaned thoroughly and was sticky too. I had emailed a complaint through the Movie Starr website to make them aware of our experience, and received no reply.

User

We had a terrible experience due to an alarm purposely being let off for about half an hour into the film tried emailing but have got no response my 10 year old son was very unhappy as he had waited weeks to see this film

User

Wow what poor customer service! Just tried to book a film using the complimentary tickets that my daughter got due to having her finger broken at one of your venues. Was agreed that i cld book over the phone and give tickets on arrival (as I don't live on canvey). However I just spoke to a boy who told me i couldnt do this, he had zero customer service and put the phone down on me when I asked for his name oh dear!

User

I have been here a couple of times and it’s been ok but me my husband and our two children have just been to see Jurassic world and we had to leave after an hour into the film! It was like a furnace in screen 4 no air con or fans, ladies toilets are dirty and lacking toilet roll.. also had a light come on after 15 minutes into the film which stayed on for 30 minutes before they came in and told us they had to pause the film so they could fix this! I don’t expect it to be great standard because of the cheap tickets but even the basics aren’t being met here! Very disappointed and has spoiled our evening not to mention a waste of money..
