Would like to say how lovely the children’s teddy bears picnic was today. I took my daughter with my friends and there children it was a joint 2nd birthday treat. The kids tea was so lovely the little teddy shaped sandwiches and biscuits with their names on. So cute.

User

Went for the Teddy Bear picnic Afternoon Tea we all enjoyed it especially my granddaughter who got a free teddy bear very nice staff would recommend and visit again

User

We had a savoury afternoon tea. So lovely, freshly cooked & wonderful service. Highly recommend, 👍👍

User

We booked one night as we were going to a local show. Very helpful and friendly staff, room very comfortable and breakfast was superb, especially overlooking the Thames.

User

We booked 3 rooms for us and family before our wedding. The rooms were lovely but the stuff was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond for us. We have never had such an experience and it made our day (and especially evening/night after) so much special and fantastic. Thank you so much (unfortunately I only can give you 5 stars not more ;) )

Such a lovely place to stay will Defo come back

User

Stayed here last night and could not have had a better time. The staff were so lovely and accommodating nothing was too much for them and they were so friendly. It's a shame we had to leave. A special mention for Natasha for being so friendly and bubbly. Would stay here again in a heartbeat

User

Our stay at The Westcliff was fabulous. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was a beautiful Victorian one with many interesting features. Our room was immaculately clean and finished to a very smart modern standard. The views over the estuary were just gorgeous from our 2 very large windows and our bathroom was really beautiful. The rooms were cleaned everyday and our tea/coffee items replenished daily too.

Thank you for a very relaxing and pleasant stay. We will be returning soon

User

Not sure why I can't attach a photo to this review, but I took my neice to the teddy bear afternoon tea, and wow it was absoulity outstanding, her face was priceless, to anyone with a little girl that wants to feel like a princess for the day, I strongly recommend it, credit to the fantastic pastry chef the food was absoulity amazing, outstanding experience and I would defently do it again, it's so cute for the kids and they get a cute little cookie teddy with their name on, amazing, thank you xx

User

My daughter booked a afternoon tea for Mother’s Day (Sunday 11th March) it was absolutely amazing highly recommend it. I will be going back for afternoon tea again. Thanks to all the staff. X

User

Me and the Mr got married here on Saturday, and it was perfect! Emily, Sophy and the team were amazing, cannot thank them enough! Would recommend this venue to anyone as not only was it great value for money but they know how to deal with a nervous bride! The ceremony room was gorgeous, afternoon tea was very tasty (so much food!!) and reception room was laid out beautifully. I had two vegan guests and my mum is a coeliac, but they were not left out and catered for with their own little afternoon teas. Amazing night xxxxx

User

Booked last minute for Xmas eve. Booked half board only to be told the restaurant was closed. Receptionist extremely sorry and instead arranged for us to order anything we wanted from bar menu free of charge. The food was really lovely and plenty of it. The room was spacious and comfy with great view of the sea and huge bathroom. Great breakfast next morning. All in all a great stay. Managed to park right outside and the town centres shops bars and restaurants are a 10 minute walk away 😊

User

Teddy bears afternoon tea was great for the kids. We came today to celebrate our children turnings two. It was a great experience but the food itself was okay and the service wasn’t great. Overall my son and I had a lovely time and for £6 per person I would return.

User

I have to say the staff were lovely and very helpful. I was told the breakfast was from 8:30 tell 10:30 so we went down for 10:00 and there was not hot breakfast there. It cost around £10.00 for the breakfast and all we had was 2 slices off toast and a drink. I was not happy about that 😢 Other then this all was very good

User

Our daughter bought us a Buy-a-Gift voucher for a Luxury Afternoon Tea for two (£60). We chose the Westcliff Hotel. Its situation is perfect, overlooking the Thames Estuary, & the décor is lovely, but the service left a lot to be desired. We were the only 2 there, booked for 3pm. We announced ourselves at Reception & the Receptionist went to tell the waitress we had arrived. She showed us to our table & asked if we would like a drink. I asked for a green tea. She disappeared for ages, then returned to say that they only had ONE green tea bag & she had accidentally torn it, so would I like something else. I showed her our voucher, explaining that it included a glass each of Prosecco. She took the voucher & once again disappeared. At this stage we still had nothing to eat or drink, although we had now been there for at least 20 minutes. She returned to confirm that it did indeed include Prosecco. Off she went again & eventually reappeared with 2 glasses of Prosecco and the Afternoon Tea food. The waitress, who was very pleasant & polite, asked if we would like a pot of tea & went to get that. When we'd almost finished eating she told us she finished working at 4pm. I told her it was 4.10pm already. She became flustered, so we said we'd leave. During our tea, she was spraying all the tables & window sills, including the one about 6" away from us, with polish & dusting the ceiling glass with a very long feather duster!!! We have been to several Afternoon Teas at different venues, but none as strange as this. 'Fawlty Towers' sprang to mind & gave us a good laugh, but we definitely shan't be going back!

User

Nice clean, tidy welcoming hotel. Parking good, location for what we wanted it for was excellent. Room lovely, large, bright, clean with a good full-size deep bath and shower.

However, didn't get a good nights sleep (stayed Saturday to sunday) lots of noise from people in corridors all night and the floors above creaking.

Ending an a good note. Reception lady was very pleasant and helpful on arrival.

User

Hotel very clean managed to park outside which was a bonus. Restaurant was closed which was a shame as we would have liked to eat there. Room 306 was ok shame we could not see out of the window as the unit had blown as was full of condensation. Headboard needs replacing as worn which looked a little tatty. Breakfast was amazing and lots on offer.

User

Good area overlooking the Thames and some sand when tide is out friendly staff. The receptionist Tara went out of her way to help us. Southend pier is a nice 10 min walk away and Southend shopping centre directly up from the pier. There was a train along the 1.33 mile out to the pier head tho you could walk along side the track. Leigh on sea is a good little seaside town that has some cute shops so we were told by Tara We are going on Thurs

The downside to this hotel is the LACK OF PARKING. Driving around the streets to find a place to park is no joke then if you get a space you don't want to leave as you may not get another Muthu would do well to negotiate. Car park space with the council. The hotel is also near the Pavllion which has some good shows on Either pre or post west end We just missed the ukelele orchestra of Great Britain which was on on Sat night but we did not know about it till Sunday morning

We brought our two children here (almost 4 year olds) as a birthday treat for the Teddy Bear Afternoon Tea. Which was recommended by a friend who came a couple of weeks back. Upon arrival we were told that they couldn’t find our booking, and then discovered it had been put in for tomorrow by mistake. They said they can do it anyway so we sat down after they’d sorted a table for us. Was brought over tea and apple juice, and waited for our food. When the food came over, what we received was nothing like what was advertised, and also what a friend received when she came. We got 4 mini scones (2 for the adults 2 for the kids), some mini caterpillar cupcakes, and some sandwiches. No personalised biscuit as advertised, no other cakes/macaroons, no teddy bear to take home. Soon as we had eaten we were handed the bill without even asking for it yet, so at this point I asked the lady about the personalised biscuits etc. She went to the kitchen then came back with a box of BROKEN biscuits; one with a name on? One saying ‘hello??’ But both broken into bits. She then handed us two teddy bears to take away but asked us not to show anyone else in the restaurant as they were the last two bears!! I said to another waitress who came over with card machine that I wasn’t happy to pay full price when we didn’t receive half the things, to which she told me that they gave us the teddy bears as COMPENSATION to make up for the biscuits etc. To which I told her the teddy bears are meant to be included anyway?? Also showed her a friends photos from when they came as proof. So she just asked me to wait for manager. We were in the end discounted and paid half price but obviously would have preferred to receive the full service as that’s what we came for, wouldn’t come back and also would not recommend. Disappointed.
