Dear Parents,
Please the share message about our closure today widely. Due to heavy usage with our internet provider’s server, it has not been possible to post the message on our school’s website despite repeated attempts.
Messages should have arrived to you via the Everbridge notification system and School Comms/Gateway.
... With thanks, NWJS

Dear Parents,
At lunch time today, some teenage children were ‘hanging around’ outside our Langley road gate. It was reported to me that they spoke to some of our children, through the gate, and threw some wrapped sweets (celebrations) onto the playground.
This was sensibly brought to the attention of school staff by our children, and members of staff spoke to the teenagers, telling them to stop being silly and to go away.
... Over the remainder of lunch time, different variations of what happened began circulating around the playground. Some children told others widely differing versions of events. Unfortunately, this led to some children becoming a little upset.
At the end of lunch time, Mrs Singh spoke to the whole school, to reassure the children about what happened and to praise the children that quickly brought this to our attention.
We are in the process of contacting the parents of the teenagers involved, to notify them that this behaviour was not appropriate and ask them to discuss it with their children, so that it is not repeated.
I would be grateful if you could talk to your own child/ren about what happened at lunch time today in order to reassure them.
With kind regards, Simon Watts

Dear Parents,
Following the letter sent to you by Mrs Singh, last week, parking outside the school continues to be a problem.
I am continuing to personally witness parking/dropping off of children, that is at best inconsiderate and at worst, dangerous.
... On Friday morning, I witnessed one of our parents with a buggy, having to walk into the road in order to get around a car that had parked inconsiderately.
This, in my opinion, was dangerous. The incident occurred on the bend in Nascot Wood Road and could have easily resulted in another car coming around the bend and crashing into the parent and the buggy.
As a school community, we have a responsibility to ensure that the children are as safe as possible and not put in unnecessary danger.
With this in mind, if you choose to park inconsiderately or dangerously, please do not be surprised if you are approached or a photograph of your vehicle is taken and sent to the Police.
I would like to politely remind you that, time spent policing parking is directly taken away from time spent with your children.
With kind regards,
Simon Watts

Polite Notice regarding parking, including drop off and pick up
Dear Parents,
I wish to bring to your attention the concerns that we have regarding the dangerous parking that we have witnessed since the beginning of term. I realise that this only applies to a minority of parents, but impacts on the school community more widely.
... We regularly see vehicles parked on the zigzag lines in order to drop children for school. The zigzag lines have been put there to show you that you cannot park or stop there. This is done in order to safeguard children.
Secondly, cars often park with two wheels on the pavement, meaning that parents who are walking with buggies or people who are wheelchair bound cannot pass safely on the pavement.
Thirdly, parents are dropping children in the entrance to Harmonia Court, which disrupts residents from entering and exiting their own property.
The Police and the Watford Parking Shop are aware of these parking violations, and I am writing to give you notice that the parking wardens will be vigilant in issuing penalties where applicable, in order to discourage dangerous parking.
As a community, we have a shared responsibility to keep all the children safe.
Thank you for your help with this matter,
Christina Singh Headteacher

Please could you send in your child’s swimming kit as soon as possible. Many thanks for your help, NWJS

Dear Parents,
We are experiencing a fault with our phone line. We have been in contact with engineers who are investigating the problem.
Calls have been diverted to a secondary line, which means that you should be able to get through if you need to. If your query can be dealt with by email, please contact the school office on: admin@nascotwoodjm.herts.sch.uk

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the Class Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Office staff and Midday Supervisors who made a huge effort to ensure that we were fully staffed and therefore able to open the school during the recent snow.
We were one of the only schools in Hertfordshire to remain open, and this enabled your children to have uninterrupted education.
A particular thank you to Sarah Wood, our site manager, who cleared the site several times a day, wi...th the help of Sheena Fitzpatrick, site manager in the Infant School.
Sandra Bevis, our school cook, did a wonderful job to ensure that all our children received a cooked meal on Thursday and Friday.
Finally, thank you to all parents who battled with the weather to bring their children to school, some of which had a long way to travel; we had 250 children in school on Thursday and 235 on Friday.
Let’s hope that we have milder weather from now on!
With best wishes,
Christina Singh
