Blue green algae update.
The water was tested again yesterday and whilst the levels of contamination have decreased, they are still at a level that could be harmful to pets and people. You can still hire a swan pedalo at Nene Outdoors however all other watersports are currently suspended.
... At the weekend, you can still take part in the sailing tasters as there will be no contact with the water. you can book on these here. https://neneparktrust.cloudvenue.co.uk/fe rrymeadowsat40sail…

Want to try some tricks and flicks? There'll be a pop up skatepark on Lakeside car park throughout the weekend of 1-2 September. There'll be skateboards and scooters to try (as well as helmets and protective knee pads) and you can also bring your own skateboard or scooter with you! Thanks to Highline Adventure, Mobile Climbing Wall Specialists for bringing the skatepark to our Ferry Meadows birthday celebrations.

Lakes closed as precaution due to Blue Green Algae.
After a long, hot summer algae levels in some areas of our lakes have reached highs that could potentially cause harm to pets and water users. We have been working with the Environment Agency to measure these levels and as a precaution need to restrict access to the lakes for at least a few days to give time for currently high levels of Blue-Green algae to reduce.
Blue-Green algae can be dangerous to dogs who may swim and d...rink affected water. It is very important to keep dogs out of the algae and ensure they drink only clean water. There is also a risk to humans from rashes and potential illnesses if swallowed. This means we will not be running activities on the water this weekend to reduce this risk.
There is still plenty to do in the park over the Bank Holiday weekend with our mobile climbing walls operating suitable for all ages, alongside electric bike demos and cycle hire from Rutland Cycling, captains folly, miniature railway, trails available from our Visitor Centre and family volunteering on Sunday. Call us on 01733 234193 for details of activities.
If the conditions improve, we hope to offer some water activities on Monday, please call us to avoid disappointment. We will keep you updated.

User

Thanks to the fantastic staff at the smaller cafe yesterday who administered first class first aid and sweet tea to me after my incident in Ferry Meadows yesterday evening. Their kindness and concern went above and beyond simply running a cafe and I would like to commend them for their helpfulness and bandaging skills! Thanks for the ice and Well done !

User

My dogs and I love our daily hikes around Ferry Meadows and Orton Mere! Nene Park is well designed and much loved. Great team of employees and volunteers - or just regulars ... there is something for everybody. From sports to outdoor education or just feeling the grass under your feet!

I only wished that more people would remember to pick up their trash and only leave footprints! Please be mindful All :)

User

Lovely walks for dogs and children, fabulous in the great weather. Well worth a visit. You can spend all day here quite easily with either a picnic or bbq, on bikes or boats ❤️ Wonderfully kept, beautiful and lucky to have this on our doorstep

User

Love Nene Park. We always stop off for a few days in our motorhome when travelling up or down country from the north-east. This is our grandsons favourite place for a week stay in summer. Great place for walking the dog. Dog friendly cafe's. Fabulous scenery and waterfowl.

User

I traveled from kings Lynn been a few times now, fabulous place love the freedom to BBQ and swim canoes train rides, fabulous day out, highly recommend you GO

User

I started visiting regularly with my dog in February and we really enjoy the facilities, which are well maintained. The cafe and the gift shop staff are really friendly.

I would like to remind people that an annual parking ticket, valid for 2 cars in a household, for 1 car at any one time, currently costs £60 a year which is an absolute bargain!

My only major concern is the Milton Ferry Bridge end requires new roadway marking (double yellow lines) and parking bays re-marked out as these are so unclear now and it's causing confusion and frustration.

User

I have been going to Ferry Meadows all my life

I absolutely love it there its such a beautiful place to go.

The staff are always friendly & helpful.

I'm wheelchair bound it's totally wheelchair friendly & it's excellent place to walk my assistance dog, he loves the agility course & swimming in the lakes he's a real water baby! There are pavements all around which is great in the winter months when the fields are too wet to go on in my wheelchair.

Over the years I have been going to Ferry Meadows there has been a lot of improvements.

Lovely new landscaping around the park.

New toilet blocks

New play areas for the children.

New Lakeside Kitchen & bar.

New sailing facilitates & new Sailabilty facilities, there's a wide range of boats etc to hire for fun on the huge lake.

New cycle shop where u can hire bikes.

The visitor centre has been re vamped its lovely in there & is now much more accessible for wheelchair users.

There is a great selection of merchandise, & it's dog friendly too.

Ferry Meadows cafe has also been modernised & serves lovely food.

There are a lot of new picnic tables and benches around the park.

I highly recommend you visiting Ferry Meadows if you haven't been you won't be disappointed.

User

Had another excellent visit to Ferry Meadows again yesterday.

The Grandchildren loved it and the weather was fantastic.

There was an issue with the parking but my experience on this occasion was different to previous visits.

My vehicle registration was not recognised when we went to pay...tried another machine still not showing up.

I decided to visit the parking with ease website and effectively " manually declare " our visit and paid that way.

Hopefully that was a "one off"!!

Excellent park and great facilities.

User

Great place , easy parking and plenty to do , loads of car parking spaces, and plenty for all the family.

Don’t believe everything you read , try it out , you won’t be disappointed.

User

First visit to England. Great park and so relaxing. Had a coffee and great chocolate chip cookie. Walked along sidewalk and watch the swans and ducks in lake. So glad I went!!

User

Excellent place, lots of things to do, somewhere to eat, park or use the loo, a gift shop and you're never more than 20 minutes walk (at the most) from a play area - so ideal for parents!

Clean and well equipped plus beautiful countryside considering you're on the outskirts of a city!

User

We visit every year about this time. Love to walk around the park with our two labradors. They are always excited as we walk to it and love to have a go at the agility course. Ferry meadows CAMC site is just next door so we can stay for the weekend in our caravan and nip in to the park whenever we like.

User

Very nice walk by the lake. Didnt manage to see the whole park as very vast and we had limited time. Great for cycling, walking, picnick.

User

Nice place to visit and walk. Downsides are the many irresponsible dog owners, dog poo left for others to walk in, dogs running loose and annoying other walkers. Sorry but when we are having a picnic we don’t want your dogs running up and sniffing our food. Car parking is quite expensive as well. Lots of money spent on recycling points and bins for rubbish and still people leave their crap all over the place for someone else to clean up.

User

This review is for recent experiences visiting and the awful situation now that Park With Ease are managing the car park - it means that a visit to a beautiful place can turn into a very stressful and expensive experience through no fault of your own. Nene Park itself is really lovely and we've been visiting for many, many years; but recently fell foul of the "fines" imposed by Park With Ease due to their ticket machines not working on a day back in January and even though we entered some money into the machine on the day, none of this seems to have registered with them and a fine was issued of £50 (£25 if paid quickly) for parking less than an hour. The "fine" from them only arrived very recently even though its for a date back in January. This has all come at a very difficult time and has added to stress and worry. It has definitely changed our feelings about visiting Nene Park which is really sad because it is a lovely place. The decision to bring in Park With Ease to manage the car parking at Nene Park will have left many people having a very difficult experience in visiting. A real shame.

User

The park is great. Parking charges are appalling and unfortunately have stopped me visiting the park. Park with Ease should not have your contract. Its operations run contrary to your charitable status.

User

Has anyone else had a parking fine come through for parking in the over flow FIELD !! I’m annoyed as we asked the parking attendant if we need to pay for parking or buy a program etc and he said no today is free as 40th birthday. Apparently there is a parking meter at the field but to be honest I didn’t even see this.

User

Has anybody has an issue with park with ease pay machines?? Terrible company with faulty machines, currently on going a dispute where my reg wasn't on the system when we went to leave , we paid anyway and they have still sent us a parking ticket, I've sent them transaction details from my card statement , they can see we've paid and are saying I put our cars reg in wrong so we still have to pay . . It wasn't on their system, Crooks !

User

Dog mess all over the place and dogs running amok. Absolutely stunned this place does not have a dogs on leads policy on its paths and around the lake. Our visit was ruined by multiple dogs running up to us and disturbing our picknik. The park code needs urgent updating. It says keep dogs from approaching others but allows them off leads. Laughable!!! Will not return.

Excellent place, lots of things to do, somewhere to eat, park or use the loo, a gift shop and you're never more than 20 minutes walk (at the most) from a play area - so ideal for parents!

Clean and well equipped plus beautiful countryside considering you're on the outskirts of a city!

We visit every year about this time. Love to walk around the park with our two labradors. They are always excited as we walk to it and love to have a go at the agility course. Ferry meadows CAMC site is just next door so we can stay for the weekend in our caravan and nip in to the park whenever we like.

Very nice walk by the lake. Didnt manage to see the whole park as very vast and we had limited time. Great for cycling, walking, picnick.

The park is great. Parking charges are appalling and unfortunately have stopped me visiting the park. Park with Ease should not have your contract. Its operations run contrary to your charitable status.
