Commencing our first delivery of Welcome pack hampers, to The Coach House, and 115 Church Street today. What beautiful cottages. Lucky guests staying here this weekend.

Well we may not have come back to Suffolk, with a Rural Oscar, as Britains Best Village Shop and Post Office, from the Countryside Alliance, but we have had a truly amazing day, at this incredible reception, beside the River Thames, at the House Of Lords. We have also been privileged to receive a tour of The Houses of Parliament, kindly arranged by our MP Therese Coffey. Wonderful also to meet our local Council Leader, Ray Herring, and his wife Anne there. We have been truly ...honoured, and humbled, to have got this far, especially in a year of record nominations, over eighteen-thousand! Thank you to everyone, who has voted for us, and a massive congratulations to Hampstead Norreys Community Store, upon winning. Also, to Justine, at Suffolk Market Events, who won the Clarissa Dickson Wright award, very well deserved. Thank you also to Steve & Lynne Tricker, at Truly Traceable Venison and Game Pies, hopefully we may get to partner together soon.

Suffolk Day celebrations begin, at 5.30pm, on FRIDAY 21ST JUNE, outside our shop, upon the village green, and the Kings Head gardens and car park. This is always one of our most favourite nights of the year, as the villages turn out, and support, what is an amazing sociable and entertaining evening. Live music is provided all night, and their are numerous stalls, and entertainment to keep you occupied. More than anything else though, it is so wonderful to see everyone here u...pon such a sociable occasion. Being the longest day of the year helps too, as if this rain ever breaks, hopefully we can have an amazing warm sunny night! This year, we are hosting Lavenham Brook Wines, who will be bringing their beautiful Suffolk Wines, for you to sample, and buy by the glass or bottle. Welcoming the sunshine today, with all this wonderful array of fruit and veg, much of it grown/sourced, as locally as possible. Delicious strawberries from Newbourne, and East Anglian growers, plus asparagus, from High House Fruit Farm. Locally grown cut flowers too, as well as Suffolk grown plants, summer bedding and beautiful floral, and strawberry and tomato hanging baskets. We are open 8.30am to 5.30pm Saturday, 10am to 4pm Sunday, and 8.30am to 5.30pm on Bank Holiday Monday. We are beyond excited to receive these today. To all our wonderful friends, customers and loyal supporters, who took the time, and made the effort, to vote for us, THANK YOU. Absolutely humbled, and totally amazed, to have got this far, and especially against such strong competition, in the South-East. We are now off, to the UK Finals, at the House of Lords, upon June 19th, to see who will be crowned Britains Best Village Shop and Post Office. Whatever the outcome, this has been a truly wonderful experience, for which we thank you, Rural Countryside Alliance.

Tasty local strawberries, from Newbourne, luscious local asparagus from High House Fruit Farm, and gorgeous vibrant bedding plants and perennial plants from Suffolk too. The weather may not be feeling seasonal, but we are!!!!

The sun is out this gorgeous, Good Friday morning. Now getting all stocked up, for all your Easter provisions, fruit and veg, and gardening needs. Even our cherry blossom, is starting to bloom.

More summer bedding plants, have arrived, ready for a busy Easter weekend, plus lots of fruit and veg plant trays. We now have in stock, trays of geraniums in varying colours, four varieties of marigold trays, trays of mimulus, and osteospermeum plants in four colours, plus hanging and upright fuschias in numerous colours and types! And thats in addition to all our gorgeous perrenial plants too!! Don't forget we also stock compost and growbags now too!! It's going to be a gorgeous weekend, so lets all get out in our gardens, and enjoy it !!!

A reminder, that Orfords Annual Easter Egg Hunt, will be held in the grounds of Orford Castle, on Saturday 20th April. We are also collecting easter eggs, as prizes, here at the shop, so if you would like to make a donation, please drop your eggs into the shop, by Friday afternoon. Entrance fee, is only £3, and all monies raised, go to support Orford School.

We have had a wonderful day, here at Orford General Store. We have received our Judging Visit, from The Countryside Alliance, and it has been such a special, humbling moment, to receive copies, of all the voting comments, made by our customers. The whole team here work so hard, and it was so good to feel all your appreciation, love and support. We really are so flattered. To be nominated was amazing, but to see all your comments, and kind words, really does make it all worthwhile. Thank you all of you, our ever loyal, supportive and kind customers.

.Our first delivery of animal feeds, coal, compost, salt tablets, dog treats, bird foods etc, arrived this week! Don't forget to let us know, of any special orders, or requests you may have, and we are more than happy, to accomodate them.

Wonderful to receive a letter from Dr Therese Coffey, our local MP, congratulating us, upon getting through to the regional finals, of The Countryside Alliance Awards.

With the sad news, of the impending closure, of Friends Garage, here in Orford, we have had numerous customers asking, whether we would be able to commence stocking, some of the more essential lines, that for many years, the garage has supplied. We are delighted to let you know, that as of the beginning of February, we will be stocking coals, animal foods, bird seeds, chicken foods, compost and salt blocks etc. We will all be sorry to lose our fellow retailer, but we hope, th...at we can assist, in enabling you, to purchase these goods locally. If you usually purchase/order a specific animal food, that the garage may order in for you alone, please let us know, so we may ensure availability. We hope this assists you all, especially those, who are unable to get out so easily. Also remember, we do offer a home delivery service, for those who need it, please ask should you require this service. We hope this assists all those, who are concerned, by the closure of the garage, and, if there are any further essential lines, you think we should be offering, please come in, and let us know.
