This is so sad! In the video we shared earlier it was mentioned how discarded ocean plastic becomes a deadly carrier for bacteria, but that bacteria is now even causing the plastic to clump back together?? It's already dangerous enough for marine life, and this shocking fact means it may e.g. sticking around even longer!

We thought this was pretty interesting... It's such a huge shame when you see animals trying to adapt to something that should never be in their environment :( then getting attached and quite literally carried away! And I hadn't much considered microbes and their impact. That ocean plastic becomes a carrier for diseases that spread as fast as the current!... Hats off to people like these guys who clean up where they can, hopefully we have less and less entering the ocean every day!!

We've all heard the facts about how long plastic sticks around in the environment, but sometimes it takes frank evidence to really hit that fact home. A lady posted that she found a wrapper while picking up litter on a beach in Swansea in 2017. First picture is that wrapper.what seems strange? The pricing! '2D' was 2 pence in British pre-decimalisation currency. As shown in the second picture, decimilisation was brought into the UK in 1971. A minimum of 46 years have passed... since this wrapper was dropped and it was picked up, and non-surprisingly, it still looks ok! It feels like a stark reminder of how long some of our waste will remain on the planet and makes us thankful that people are now trying to move away from single-use plastics. Thankfully, this was picked up. But what if it hadn't been? . . . #penguinsoverplastic #plasticsaction #plasticspollution #singleuseplastics

Companies releasing products like this just show how big a task we all have to change what is acceptable. I hope the sales of this product are also nothing! 😑🐧

New year's resolutions are great. It's wonderful that people feel a renewed energy to make positive changes.
With that in mind, why not make one of your resolutions one to help the planet?
You could make it as small as remembering to bring your reusable bags when you go shopping; saying no to straws or even bringing your own, or maybe shopping at bulk-buy and refill grocery shops?
... If you'd like to know what products we have here at Penguins Over Plastic that could help you start your plastic reducing resolution, feel free to get in touch! https://www.facebook.com/88155763969/post s/10157024221163970/

We love getting in the Christmas spirit! πŸŽ„ Tree-Decorating, baking, watching Die Hard and Muppets Christmas Carol on repeat...
Reindeer food is a really cute idea for kids, but as we all know, traditional packets are full of glitter. Sprinkling this around is directly throwing plastic right where it could hurt local wildlife πŸ™ not very merry!
... Why not take a look at this more environmentally friendly version? Still just as exciting for kids, but plastic-free!
