Poppets Pre-School

Today we looked at how our garden has changed. The leaves have come off the trees and are fun to play with, but playing with leaves is messy. No leaves on the trees mean the sun can shine onto the grass. We also found some mushrooms and a shiny white stone. To complete our outside experience we visited the chickens.

We thought about the brave people who keep our country safe, when then made poppies to say thank you.

Today we talked about farming and where our fruit and vegetables come from. The children loved bring farmers, they explained that first they buried them and then used the tractors to harvest them. Them bring the fruit and vegetables.

Today we have been learning how to look after ourselves, we washed our muddy hands, spead jam or cheese on crackers for snack and learnt a new song about cleaning our teeth.

The children are so lucky at Poppets Pre School, we don't only have the whole building to ourselves but we have 2 large gardens.The back garden is wonderful in the heat of summer with its large trees providing shade. Our front garden will be fully prepared for the colder wet weather after half term. Both gardens also have sheltered areas so the children can be outside even in Englands grey and drizzly weather

And for something different. Staff were looking for ways to cheer up the front garden and decided to use old wellies as flower planters. The children were working on counting, matching,colours and pairs, not to mention then needs of the plants as they helped plant up the wellies.

This week we thought about bridges, in our story the Giant gave his belt to a dog to make a bridge. The children used equipment of their choice to make bridges, some children even made rivers under their bridge.

This week we have been thinking about sharing just like the Giant. We had new pencils and masks,the children had to share...they even managed to share enough to make their older siblings a mask.

This week we have looked at the clothes we wear in hot and cold weather. In the story The Smartest Giant in Town the giant gave a giraffe his tie to use as a scarf. We made a winter clothes person and a summer out fit for Floppy

Today was the Barling Magna Fair. Poppets had a stall with a few free activities for children to play with and story times planned. Sadly the wind and rain won and after a couple of hours we left to dry off and warm up. We were running a raffle with some amazing prizes from a photography shoot, jewellery, perfume, childs designer skirt, teddies etc. We will now be selling tickets at Poppets the 1st week of term

All Poppets staff are sad to say goodbye to our oldest Butterflies. May they all settle quickly into big school and show their teachers how wonderful they are. To end our term we had a messy day

Today we celebrated our NHS day. The children dressed up as health care workers, patients, and even a fairy. We had a special Elf story when he met all the children in the hospital, we learnt a new song about cleaning our teeth and had great fun wearing bandages. Along with all the fun we raised some money for children who are not as healthy as our wonderful children are.

This morning we had our sports morning and mini fete

Saturday 14th July is our sports morning and mini fete, 10 am to 12 noon.

This week we have been looking a spiders as Mrs Honey had one visit her hat. As a treat we had ice cream, squirty cream and other sprinkles. Apparently the cream was awesome and looked like a hose

What a week we are having at Poppets. Yesterday the dentist came and taught the children how to clean your teeth, what foods stick to your teeth and gave them all a tooth brush.

Poppets filled my two children with love, fun and confidence - staff are lovely and wonderful and I miss them !

Our daughter has been going to Poppets since she was 20 months old and loves it! Every morning she asks if its a school day and when she does go she doesn't want to leave! She has definitely learnt new things and has helped develop her skills. The new setting is really nice plus the staff are great too!

My eldest, very shy son attended this Pre- school and totally thrived there and now my youngest goes, he started at 20 months old is excited to go in and staff are warm and friendly.

I cannot recommend this preschool enough !! The staff are amazing, all 3 of my very shy children have attended and Poppets really helped getting them ready for school.
