Good day for the club at Tatton Park today. The weather was very overcast with some drizzle and light rain but warmed up in the afternoon. Hopefully tomorrow will be a lot brighter.

On 3rd September we held our annual charity road run. What an excellent day. We had 90 cars on the front lawn at Gawsworth Hall – the day started off fine but around lunch time we had slight drizzle.
We had visitors from Yorkshire / Lake District / Worcestershire / Wales / many thanks to all that attended and supported the day – see you in 2018
Thanks also to Katie from the Air Ambulance, Nigel from the Staffordshire Blood Bikers, Jason with MG & Alfa spares and to the membe...rs of this club that worked very hard today in helping and making it happen and to those that supported the run.

On the Bank Holiday Monday we went to the Woodsmoor Classic Car Show. This was a new venue for the club, the show is a charity event in support of Tommy's and St Ann's Hospice.
It was a fantastic day, very well organised and friendly with a superb range of cars on display. In addition there was also a nice craft fair and fresh handmade pizza if you were peckish (they were very busy !). The crowds certainly turned out for the event and amazingly it stayed dry.
We had a good turnout of cars spanning the MG history and a great day was had by all.

Bank Holiday Sunday saw us at Capesthorne Hall and surprisingly considering the summer we have been having, another warm dry day. The club turned out in force with a wide display of MG's from all periods. It was a good day with lots to see and do.
Club member Stephen Dent won runner up in the Sports & Convertible Class with his Iris blue MGB – Well done !!

August Bank Holiday weekend was very busy for the club and we kicked it off with our static display at High Legh Garden Centre. This is an annual event we do displaying our cars along with our tombola raffling off prizes to raise money for the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice, Air Ambulance and the Blood Bikers. It was a great day with fine weather and we managed to raise a sizeable amount of money for these worthwhile charities (more details to follow later).
We would like to thank the staff at the garden centre for making us very welcome and supporting this event along with all the generous visitors to the centre for the donations.

On the 19th and 20th August the club attended both days of the August Tatton Park “Passion for Power” Classic Motor Show. Unfortunately the Saturday was hit with rain, followed by more rain overnight which left the grounds somewhat soggy and muddy in places on the Sunday. Unfortunately due to the conditions the organisers decided not to allow the clubs to sort their locations out themselves so we ended up with quite a few mixed displays and clubs not where they were meant to be. Thankfully we managed to regroup and made the best of it with only a few members in other parts of the field.
We along with other clubs made the best of the day and thankfully the weather turned out warm and fine with no more rain !!!
Bob the club secretary won best RV8 in show – well done !!

On Sunday 13th August we had a drive up to East Lancashire Railway where we put on a display outside the Bury Transport Museum. Once we got there everybody did their own thing which included having a wander around the museum and having a trip on the steam train, getting off at any of the locations that took your fancy. Ramsbottom was one of the stops, with its park, quaint shops and cafes. So there were lots of things to do, places to visit and some great eating spots making it a brilliant day.

A new show for the club on 6th August was Cromford Steam Rally. We had a good turn out and thankfully the weather stayed mostly dry. There was a great range of vehicles on display and lots to see.

July 30th we attended another regular show - Helsby and Frodsham.
We had a good attendance by the club. The weather started off really cloudy but then turned really bright but very windy. This was a great little show with lots to do and see. The club also won another trophy with Bob the club secretary winning prize for his RV8- well done!

July 15th - 16th The club attended both days at the car show in Middlewich. On the Sunday despite the early weather we really turned out on in force with a large number of quality cars on display covering a wide range of MG models from Stan's MG SV-R Supercar all the way to the what is now the oldest car in the club Mike's classic 1934 MG PA Midget. The weather started off wet and miserable but as with any typical British summers day then turned into a real scorcher bringing out the crowds and keeping the ice cream van busy !!Great and relaxing day had by all.

July 2nd saw us at one of regular shows - Cars in the Park - at Lichfield. A good day, weather was fantastic and it was very busy with a big turnout of visitors. Great day for the club it was a bit cramped for room as there was a huge number of cars this year but this didn’t stop the club making the best of the day and the weather !
As well as the car display there were a fair number of car stalls and we had a fly over from the Air Ambulance which is one of the charities we sponsor.

June 20th The club attended the annual classic car evening run by the North West MG Car Club at the Plough and Flail in Mobberley. It was a beautiful balmy summer evening and there was a spectacular turn out of MG`s from all eras along with some superb examples of other marques and a good turnout of classic mopeds.
It was a fantastic evening with food, including a barbeque and some nicely crafted ales on tap, it was also very well attended by enthusiasts who turned out to see... the cars.
We had a large number of cars from our club attend and were very successful in winning some prizes as follows:
Tony Haughton – with his fantastic MG TD Stephen Dent – with his beautiful Iris Blue Mk 1 MGB Roadster Stella Bolton – with her lovely little MGF Congratulations to all the winners
Many thanks to the North West MGCC and the Plough and Flail for making this event possible.

Great event. I live near Gawsworth hall but even the 70 mile charity drive taught me new roads and I thought I knew them all. Even better it is for charity... Sign me up next year.. well done to all those that organised it and Bob for his ticket sales...
